similar to the old stumpy linkage then, 'cept they had a ball joint washer setup aswell as the bearings

simple stuff first, make sure you're turning it the right way (anticlockwise).

WD40 will do bugger all, plus-gas is a proper penetrating solution, try that or coke.

Get your mate to weld a spare BB tool to the end about 4 foot of (sturdy) steel rod, make sure the frame is secure and get bouncing on the end – lots of leverage is much more effective than percussive persuasion.

Made on behalf of Crank Bros by Cane Creek. Might explain a few things….

cane creek own the Aheadset patent…I'm guessing CB get a bit of a discount by putting the cane creek name on the thing

new master cylinder seal kit. If they're new ask the shop to get it sorted through fishers' warranty, I've had a few of those before

Because your children should be at school instead of sitting in the corner of the office?

But what if you need to drop the kid off at nursery en route?

on a slightly related tangent, does anyone know why child seats aren't allowed on cyclescheme? Not that it effects me, we've recently had one rejected in work….

stumpy elite is £2200, the main difference is the talas fork though. Stumpy comp comes in at £1800.

The triad shock is a spesh only custom job made by fox. It only differs (apart from the lack of end bushing) in that it has an open/propedal/lockout switch rather than an adjustable propedal.

Rather than focusing on spec though, get which one feels the best. I'd rather have the bike feel 'right' then build on that than the best spec in the shop.

I'm fond of these guys. They have a stall at the bottom of Park street in Bristol if anyone local wants to save themselves the postage

08 stumpy elite here, completely stock apart from the layback post (original was inline) and even that is specialized.

And I work in a bike shop.

Ever seen a lifetime warrantee on an aluminuim bike? This used to be fairly common on steel frames.

erm, Spesh and Trek for starters….

sounds like your mech hanger is slightly bent inwards. It might only be 3 or 4 mil, so it'll look fine by eye but by the time you get to the 2nd sprocket the bend is exaggerated enough to mess up the indexing.
