it replaces the qr skewer with the axle. The axle slides into the cart bearings, has a lever at one end and a thread at the other, which you tighten.

take it to the shop with reciept etc, and see what marin say. Cracks like that ain't massively uncommon and marin are usually good with warranty stuff.

get tft/mojo etc to do them. Far too much hassle than it's worth, you'll need to buy the right installation tool as well.

it's easier without splitting the caliper tbh. Hold the one on the same side as the bleed nipple in and pump the lever until it pops, then stick an air line/pump on the bleed nip and blast that one out. You can't get spare pistons or seals from shimano, so make sure you don't damage them.

The RST bushings aren't as bad as some suntour ones, but don't expect anything amazing. Saying that, they are nice and lightly sprung and spesh would sort you out if you had any problems

I love them as peaty and smoky as I can get. Mis-spent teen years drinking far too much JD and coke makes me nearly retch at anything too sweet. I do like the 'cleanness' of laphroaig more than most though

Yes. They're bloody awesome. Although I would say have a small test before you buy as it has slightly quicker steering than you'd expect. Wish I still had mine now.

I think it'll be highland park then – if I can walk past the quarter cask quickly enough, anyway!

I'll be getting it from the scarily rather good selection at my local asda, so it won't be anything too hard to get hold of, I just wish the bugger liked quarter cask as I need a refill

also: why does highland park always seem to be on special offer? £22 in nearly every supermarket

shimano cable cutters are a lot smaller and lighter than the park ones.

I thought the coffee was the least important part of a starbucks 'coffee' anyway. Not been able to find a roast there I like, not dark enough and either too citrusy or liquoricey

Cheap ones tend to be heavy and flexy, with naff brakes and wheels. Everything you don't want really. I'd look 2nd hand to get you rolling with a view to upgrading

I'd have thought if you smacked the old one out 'fairly easily' the crown hole is already fairly flared/damaged. Why not fit a new one, then drill a hole through the crown and steerer then stick a nut and bolt through the whole lot? It'll snap around the hole but you'll KNOW where it's gonna snap….
