gay in this context means ridiculous

You should be told off for using it in that context, It used to mean “happy” but we live in 2016 now and it’s time to get with the times. When you think about it it’s an awful homophobic way to use the word and it’s a slap in the face for all gay people who read the forums. We are supposed to be moving forward not backwards.

So consider yourself told, suck it up (no pun intended) and stop trying to defend yourself. Take it like a man (fnar fnar) and admit you were wrong and don’t do it again.

I’ve done it without thinking on Facebook, got a slap off my gay friend Emma. It’s a learning curve.

    2015 Camber Evo?

I LOVE this bike. It’s low, slack, fast as f***. and It loves rocky, rooty, fast flowing trails. The only thing i would upgrade is the fork, because i want to be able to go full chat over EVERYTHING, but you can put bottomless tokens in it which i’ve done but yet to try. It’s a very, very fast and efficient climber.

You are in luck – I paid £2000 for mine 6 months ago, but you can get one in the sale now for £1400 and that would allow you to make a few changes and still have money left over. I have only added a dropper post.

There is a good MBR review and walk through video HERE

    you lucky bastard…

Here’s my take but with beef sausages. My recipe is all about the onion gravy. Warning contains Marmite.
Serves 2. Great with steamed green vegetables. upscale ingredients ratio (flour/milk/eggs) as needed.

    INGREDIENTS
4 beef sausages (can use pork)
    100g Flour
    2 large eggs
100ml milk (tiny splash of water for consistency if needed)
pinch or two of baking powder
    chopped rosemary
    salt and pepper
    one red onion
    Beef dripping
    Onion gravy granules
    Marmite

    METHOD

1 – Whisk the milk and eggs into the flour and add salt and pepper and chopped rosemary and a pinch of baking powder. Mix it in well so it’s nice and smooth. Put it in the fridge and have a beer.

2 – When you’re ready to eat, crack another beer. Beer suppresses appetite and you can drink it while you’re cooking and pretend you’re Rick Stein.

3 – Drop a 2cm wide slab of beef drip into a metal ovenproof tin (the one i use is about 15 x 20cm for these amounts) and whack the heat up full. It needs to be at full chat before you put anything in it.

4 – Heat some olive oil in a frying pan and chop a red onion in half then into slices. put both the onion and sausages into the pan at the same time and brown off the outsides of the sausages. add a sprig of rosemary and some freshly ground black pepper. You can add a knob of butter if you want your gravy extra tasty as you’ll use the same pan to make it in.

5 – Now take out the piping hot beef drip from the oven. Be careful at this point, especially if you’ve had a few. Drop in the sausages, stir the batter that you just got from the fridge a few times and pour it over the top. stick it straight back in the oven A.S.A.P. and put a 20 minute timer on.

6 – Make the gravy now. Dissolve one generously heaped tablespoon of gravy granules in half a cup of boiling water and stir it up. stick the frying pan with the onions left in back on the heat and add the half cup of gravy granule mixture.

7 – This is the good bit.

8 – Add one small teaspoon (level, or half a heaped blob) of MARMITE into the frying pan along with the gravy granules and onions and sausage fat and any sprigs of rosemary that are left in there. It’ll be bubbling away at this point so give it a good stir with a wooden spoon and add a touch of water from the kettle if it gets too thick. Set it aside off the heat while you wait for your pudding to rise.

9 – You can prepare your veg at this point, i like steamed cabbage and carrot slices which take 10 minutes.

10 – When your Yorkshire Pudding has been in 20 minutes, open the oven to let out the steam and if it isn’t looking crispy/burnt around the edges, turn down the heat to 180 and leave it for another 5 minutes.

11 – When it looks done stick your gravy back on the heat to warm it up (add a bit of water if it’s gone too thick), plate up your food and pour straight over.

    ENJOY.

I’ve found a really soft dustpan brush is really good for a quick clean. Big washing area and the long bristles reach in behind fork braces and into cassettes so can shift the worst of the **** pretty sharpish even with just a bucket of water.

I do pretty the much the same but i’m struggling with one bucket of water when it’s sloppy out. I got a bike brush from Blazing Saddles, it’s basically a big wooden toothbrush with long angled bristles. Wet the bike, spray some toothpaste (muc-off) on it and give it a scrub and before you know it the whole bike’s covered in suds.

It’s the water source that’s my problem. I can only use one bucket because i wash my bike on the back road, there isn’t a road in front of my house because it’s an over dwelling. If i go back to refill my bucket someone might nick my bike!

I’m going to get a Mobi Pressure Washer form CRC. They look pretty good from the videos i’ve seen and they’ll be useful for trail centres and any ride that involves the car. And cleaning the car. And myself.

They are £100 but since i don’t have access to a tap i reckon it’ll be worth it.

Andrew, until you get an outside tap could you run a hose through the window? or just use two buckets and some good cleaning products?

    Whatever you decide, good luck.

Maybe we could do a swap?

I’m looking for pikes too really but second hand 29er pikes are thin on the ground here it seems. I have a 2015 120mm Reba and would like to go to 130mm. It’s in mint condition, new in July this year and not had many outings.

If they are solo airs i could be interested…

I find photoshop quite complicated as there are usually three + different ways of doing the same thing. The best thing to do is search instructional videos on youtube. Gimp i’ve used for a long time until i got lightroom and it’s a lot simpler than PS, which is a good thing, BUT the results are often less polished. PS is quite powerful and will do a lot of things that Gimp can’t.

    Good luck!

I would say it was just about borderline cheeky until he says “don’t blush baby”. You don’t call any female “baby” in the workplace, it’s derogatory and demeaning and makes a mockery out of her and her professional aspirations. And on camera too, it’s not like she can retaliate or even defend herself in that situation and he knew it.

I’m glad he got a fine as it sets an example, female journos are there to interview people, they are not there as playthings and eye-candy for cockwombles like him.

I totally condone meeting women in professional environments but only in a discreet, respectful way which isn’t going to put her career at risk!

I kind of agree and disagree. The bike journos said the fork didn’t really match the bike and it doesn’t, which is why it now comes with a Rev instead of a Reba for 2016. What the OP gains in control from the better fork will offset the difference in the offset. Sorry about the pun. Sometimes it’s about budget not what’s best for the rider. But yeah re offset and angles etc you are probably right. But a stiffer 35mm fork with better damping should make a big difference.

I’ve just installed two bottomless tokens in the Reba and dropped it from 80 to 70psi. I am hoping you are wrong about the bottomless tokens thing and then I can stop dreaming about a Pike.

130 Yari up front with 120 Rear is perfect for the Camber

I bet the Yari is nice but there’s no reviews on them yet, read that they don’t have the charger damper of the pikes? I could probably save £100 by lowering a s/h Pike to 130.

You’re right about the Reba fork, it’s an excellent bike but the second time i rode it i got thrown off into a wall because the front end freaked out on me. It’s just begging for a slightly better fork to set it free!

I’ve never know Sowerby Bridge to flood, went to a mate’s house last night and woke up to find the bridge closed with no way through to Triangle. Went through all possible route variations but they all involved crossing a river, eventually got my mate to take me up over the tops and drop me down into Ripponden minus the bike as it wouldn’t fit in the car. I can’t even begin to imagine how the people in flooded houses feel!

My LBS is Blazing Saddles in Hebden, they’ll be under water. My print guy lives next to the canal in S.B. It’s Gutting :-(

Interesting. Wondering now…. second hand pikes with a 130 air shaft or new Toyota i mean Rockshox Yaris!?

    bomberman
    Free Member

I was surprised actually when I read that more offset makes a 29er handle better, I would have thought making the wheelbase longer made it more stable but harder to turn. Imagine the extreme – a 1m offset. Would be a nightmare!

Anyway it seems we might be splitting hairs.

I was contemplating lowering a pike to 130 myself, looks easy enough.

Has anyone tried the new Rockshox Yaris?

    Yeah it was this article

    http://www.pinkbike.com/news/To-the-Point-Wheel-Diameter-VS-Fork-Offset.html

    Linked from THIS STW thread.

So according to these sources, 51mm offset is what you’re after to make your bike handle BETTER.

EDIT Sorry Davo/SWH, I didn’t see your post before i posted mine. Confused now!

Within the last couple of hours I’ve ordered some 32mm bottomless tokens for my Reba from Amazon

Is everyone having the same problem with the Reba on the camber Evo? That it just doesn’t quite cut the mustard?

    bomberman
    Free Member

I have the same bike and looking at 130mm pikes, i was reading about the offset thing the other day somewhere and i’m sure it said that the 51mm offset was specifically for 29ers to make them handle more like a 26″ bike?

let me try and find the link…

It just seems like a massive, pointless lie to me

This, and the fact that the lie is propagated from a very early age by the bribing of young children with presents. And then you find out Santa isn’t real, and probably Jesus, but you still have Christmas anyway. WTF!?

Food, yes i like that bit. The commercialism annoys me but i try and blank it out.

I think it’s a necessary event to get us through the shortest days of the year.

I was doing fine until i started worrying about buying presents and wondering if people would like them or not. Yeah Winter is setting in but for that reason i need to buy stuff to see ME through the winter – winter normal clothes (i’m still wearing a 2 year old jacket), winter riding clothes of which i had none, and i really need a portable bike washer as i have no yard and can’t run in off the back street to refill my bucket incase someone steals my pride and joy. And what did i get? A chainsaw. For the wood burning stove of the house that i don’t even own. And all the fallen trees are soaked now anyway. And i got rid of my car and don’t fancy a back breaking walk with a garden sack full of wood over my shoulder from the local woods every time i want firewood. Like, Winter’s a hard enough time anyway without getting caught up in “Consumerfest” (TM); your heating and lighting bills go up you eat more and you need to buy jumpers.

As Onzadog and Mattyfez say, it’s best not to use the word “hate” though, as you might offend someone. I’ve avoided Facebook all day now. Be indifferent and maybe get away somewhere nice next time. Plan it nice and early and tell nobody and you’ll have a lovely trick up your sleeve all year long! “**** you Jesus freaks i’m off to Thailand to ride some elephants!” “Merry **** Christmas from my Wi-Fi enabled beach hut!”

The problem with online dating, as far as i can see, is that there’s not much jeopardy involved. Instead of meeting someone in day-to-day life and having to pluck up the courage to tell them that you like them or ask them out it’s just swipe right and send them a few messages, there’s nothing to lose and therefore, it’s totally different chemistry (i.e. not much). You don’t get that tension, or the relief when you do manage to cop off with someone.

I reckon (and i’m no psychologist but i have been on a lot of Tinder dates recently) that it’s a case of easy come easy go. Make one mistake and you’re out the door and it’s onto the next one. I apply the same rules, i’m picky and i find a lot of traits of single thirty something females a bit annoying. Kind of makes me wish i’d met and stayed with someone in my 20’s.

But having said that i met someone in real life a few months back, thought she was my ideal woman, turned out she was a bit of a control freak and also had a history of dating mountain bikers. I think she just saw me as a toy or some sort of prey she could toy with.

It’s hard but what else can you do except keep trying? Try not to let the bad experiences poison your view of females in general, and bin the girls who have a negative attitude towards men as soon as possible. Don’t waste your time on haters.

Sometimes things happen, they usually get fixed pretty quickly if your polite

Just for the record, i WAS polite. I sent 3 emails to Bikeinn before i got a response, One on the 14th, one on the 15th, neither of which got any response.

i dunno maybe i sent the to the wrong place (info@bikeinn.com)

And then this one on the 20th which read:

“Hi I ordered a Catlike Leaf helmet in blue, order number 3659919. Please tell me if this order has been shipped? Has the money come out of my account? If the order has not been shipped then please hold off and give me a refund because i’ve got the helmet from somewhere else so i would like a refund please. Thanks. “

    Note the words

    please

    and

    thanks

    (robdob)

    The response was not

“Oh i am so sorry you’ve had to wait 2 weeks past the due date but we have just shipped your item and it will be with you on 15th August, so sorry for the delay”. It may as well have said ” Tough sh*t! Enjoy the wait!”

That was what annoyed me, the way the content of my email about wanting a refund and asking to cancel was completely ignored.

Anyway, i’ve had my refund so thanks to Bikeinn for that but Wiggle

    a) Had the item in stock
    b) Were quicker to deliver
    c) price matched Bikeinn with a retrospective discount
    d) were fast and efficient to communicate
    and
    e) gave me a free packet of Haribo gummies with my order

So this hole that you have created for me…..remind me again who is holding the spade?

Perhaps i should have been really polite and maybe that would have made them change their mind and give me a refund?

    You guys are hilarious.

Hi all you beautiful people. As Robdob won’t post up the email i sent him i’ll do it instead, here you go:

Harly a taunt, more of a question. Actually it was a question.

To whoever it was who found the tracking info, if you’d actually read it you would see that the item was coming from SPAIN so would not have arrived next day and probably not by the weekend either, 10/10 for the detective work but -5 for the conclusion (sorry to p*ss on your chips).

As it happens, i’d already ordered another helmet from Wiggle for £10 more when someone posted on here that they price match BikeInn, so i emailed Wiggle (nicely of course ;) to ask them if they could still do it and they very kindly offered me a RETROSPECTIVE discount and refunded the difference back into my account!

    Now THAT is customer service.

Moral of the story? You need anger management.

I don’t need anger management, i’m just allergic to bullsh*t!

I never, ever have sworn before at anyone in retail before, ever. But when you’ve been waiting weeks and that money is in someone else’s account and you email them to say “please can i have a refund” and they turn around and say “we shipped it this morning!!”, and you KNOW it’s bullshit because they can’t provide a tracking number, you would be angry too. Don’t try and pretend it’s not the case. Some people will take liberties until you get annoyed and then do a U-turn just as this company did. Seriously i’m here to give advice, not take it.

But if people like you are happy to have money taken out of their account and have nothing to show for it for weeks and weeks then more fool you.

Me, i’ll fight for my rights as a consumer because i have a spine and a pair of gonads ;)

There really are some idiotic low-lifes on here during the daytime aren’t there? Isn’t there an episode of Pointless you could be watching?

I’m trying to give you a heads up about a company who are blatantly lying about having shipped my item and had hold of my £60 for the last 2 weeks.

Any threads like this are just troll-bait to you morons.
