cozzy, i could’ve tried the fuel but i didn’t like the narrow bars – can’t understand why they don’t put 680’s it. If i had the money burning a hole in my pocket i’d definitely be tempted. It was a harrogate – based bike shop (not sure of the name) doing the demo at stainburn trails near leeds and they’re having another one in 3 weeks time if that’s any use?

I test rode a zesty 514 and a spicy 516 at the weekend. When the guy was setting up the shock i commented on how soft it felt but he said that when you climb it sits back into its travel for max traction over bumps and by jove it did! the thing climbed like a mountain goat! On the rock gardens and the jumpy bits it was extremely plush and IMO out-performed the longer travel spicy. It just felt so nimble… great bike.

so air pike users out there, do you notice a ramp-up at the end of your travel?

i went yesterday and it’s still a bit snowy in places – under the trees is fine it’s just a couple of berms on the descent line and the push-up that still have snow on

we went to stainburn yesterday and rode it in the snow. There was a van there from an LBS offering test rides on the new lapierre spicy and zesty – the people who’d booked in hadn’t turned up so we thought it rude to not break them in! off came the tags! my mate took the spicy and i had the zesty and then we swapped at the bottom of the hill. the zesty won :)

    too true

“of piste” could have actually meant ON piste, especially as the preceeding clause states that the trails are still covered in snow:

The trails are still covered in snow, but 90% rideable at present, of piste and some open sections of the climb it is up to 1ft deep

i am too but why a new thread every other day? theres already been a million other threads about it so why not use the search function to look them up and post on there? we don’t care if your item was late! get over it! or go to LBS perhaps?

thisisnot a spoon, i’ve done the hard work for you, took me all of 2 minutes with a google search of the product title copied and pasted from the CRC product. Here is a link to the info:

    raceface FAQ[/url]

it’s on the left hand column exactly the fourth question up from the bottom:

Q: Where do the 1mm spacers go when I’m installing my crank?
A: The small spacers are used to adjust your chainline from side to side to reach the ideal chain line position for your set up. The standard configuration of 1mm spacers is going to be 2 black spacers on the drive side of the spindle and 1mm black spacer on the non-drive side of the spindle. This arrangement will yield a chainline of 49mm on most bikes.

the clue is in the product title “chainline spacers”

sorry to be a smart-arse but if the guys at CRC are sitting around answering questions like that all day via email/phone then i’m not surprised standards are slipping in the delivery department.

thisisnotaspoon, i’m not surprised they didn’t answer that mail TBH. I’m sure they’ve got better things to do than answer every numpty technical question (like running a business). Why didnt you just ask on here or look the answer up on the net, or do you expect a full-on google search service as well as cut price goods?

oh i wasn’t sure what “of piste” meant, thanks CM.

quite confusing that! 90% rideable but 1ft deep?? not the most decisive analysis!

nickegg if i had just paid for new lowers and uppers (and probably a new 15mm hub/wheel build no?) instead of just buying a brand new pair of rock shox i would be defending fox right now too.

    bomberman

Boycott fox forks. after all the new talas QR15 is £750 (and that’s if fox prices don’t go up shimano style). Why 15mm i ask you? i know why. because if they were a 20mm axle they’d be in direct competition with rock shox who seem to be making cheaper and more reliable forks.

merlin still have them for 39 i thought i’d better get one before they disappeared! which is really silly because it’s to go on the pro 2 wheelset that is now going to take me longer to attain due to being 40 quid out of pocket! duuuuuuuuuh… if only hope freehubs weren’t made of cheese.
