After two days of the auction ending you have not paid, and *** seem to think the seller should stay in all day, probably taking a day off work to do so, in order for your courier to collect the item from them. But in 48 hours they have not arranged for your courier to pick up the item so you are going to give them negative feedback?

this is the question that the other guy sent him, asking if he could box it up for COURIER COLLECTION. He agrees, but thinks it’ll cost 20 quid. I win the item and inform him that i can arrange a courier for £7.99 with interparcel. NO REPLY! AND STILL NO REPLY AFTER 2 DAYS!

i will only neg him if he dosen’t communicate anyway. sent him a request for the total with a note on saying i am willing to negotiate on postage but to check with me first to make sure i agree. after all i don’t want to invite him to charge me £30 for postage! that would be a sure fire way of him being able to keep the item and re-list it at a higher price!

why wouldn’t it be fair to neg him FFS? i’ve won the item fair and square! you can’t suddenly decide that you didn’t get what you wanted and pull out. It’s an auction.

by bidding you were agreeing to his postage charges and you already knew this was £20,

incorrect – it was listed as collection only but he made public an email to another bidder that he would post the item – he was unsure of the price but thought it MIGHT be around the £20 mark.

spot on geoffj. but he had already told someone else he was willing to post the item. and i have told him i’ll be sorting out the courier at my end. i suppose he does have the hastle of waiting in for the courier at his end. but who knows if he won’t get in touch there’s no way of finding out is there?

well trail_rat… if his seatpost is up his backside and he has a stupid long stem like that then maybe he could do with a bigger bike? There is no way i would run a stem that long because the rocks we ride over would send me flying. I was squashed in the cockpit on my bike until i put a layback seatpost on and it is fine – in fact having the weight further back gives me more rear wheel traction on the climbs. And i live in calderdale so there are a few climbs.

This Myth that running a shorter stem will make you do wheelies on steep hills is what’s comical. unless you don’t know how to adjust your riding positon depending on the terrain in which case you’re probably best with a longer stem anyway.

It depends how rocky your trails are and how much you value being able to steer.

You could do with:

New shorter stem – something like a 50mm thomson x4
new seatpost in BLACK (thomson layback would be spot on)
the grey lizard skins peaty grips (red bits would match the seatpost collar)
Lose the red headset and chainstay protectors or get some in black
NEW DECALS
SLX crank

EDIT: – and the spring would look better in bare metal finish

Evans just don’t cater for the customer who builds their own bikes, they get bikes sent in bits and build them up as needed. In this time of recession it would be bad business sense for a shop like evans to stock parts like stems because it would be a waste of money.

I think it looks great! not sure about the red bits though – i would get rid of them and get some nice white bars instead. and maybe pedals as well. and some grey lizard skins peaty grips :)

BB7s are quite expensive now though arent they? plus you only get those sh*tty roundagon rotors instead of the G2s. I’m probably going to stick to my BB7s and occasionally just drool over the gorgeous looking Hope tech x2s!

i don’t think i’d need TOO much more power or i’d be over the bars. have heard about a few problems with sticky pistons etc. think the only reason i might swap is if they give me a more cushy feel/better control.

are the hope x2’s a one finger lever? they look quite long

i can’t seem to justify 300 quid on something used to slow me down! any more advantages? i tried my mates hope mini pros and they felt quite squishy in comparison. i can brake with just my middle finger on the BB7s but i’d like to be able to use my index finger…
