    black = boring and unimaginative

isn't there a really long thread with lots of orange five colours on here somewhere? There was a neon pink one with pikes on it that looked cool. They also do a "hazard yellow" which is quite rare. and Dirt mag had a raw ally one which they polished up to a high shine which looked amazing. Failing that i think the fools gold and apple green are nice colours.

A few years ago a certain type of board had a jumper set in a position where it wouldn't run til you move it over

    it was the Asus A7N266.

Web review here with correct jumper diagram

I meant the tube that was in his throat by the way. Not the catheter or anything.

When the nurse pulled my catheter out it was the craziest feeling ever! I just had to phone my mate and tell him!

Good luck Mark and Meg x

I reckon lockouts on mid travel bikes like that are a waste of time. One of those things that you think you're missing when you haven't got but never use when you have.

EDIT: 15mm axle is deffo worth having though

PP – if your selling the 17-70, email me with a price as i'm on the lookout for one. Can i just add that buying a cheap canon 18-55 IS would be not much use because you can't use IS to stop action (which im guessing you'll want for MTB shots). IS only prevents camera shake with still subjects. Maybe the problem could be that the sigma 17-70 only has an f2.8 at 17mm? so when you zoom in to 70mm you're not getting enough light into the lens to stop the action? What with winter coming up and maybe being under trees and forests where its dark i would be looking at something with a mid zoom and a constant 2.8, and maybe an off camera flash as well.

I doubt whether you'd be able to tell the difference between either. why not just go for the cheapest?

What a thread! a suspicious post from there from duditude, it being his first and only and all that.

Can't be bothered to read the whole thread.

    My top tips –

    1) Concentrate on being smooth and speed will come. Don't grab suddenly at the brakes as it'll get you into trouble! I've only had about 3 bad crashes ever and they've all involved the front brakes. clearing obstacles is better done with a bit of momentum so allow yourself to roll in a controlled way.

    2) Allow yourself to take small leaps of faith. Picture yourself clearing the obstacle in your mind. It's one thing seeing someone else do something but until you know you can do it there will always be that element of doubt in your mind. If you can imagine how you are going to tackle an obstacle it will help bridge the gap making it easier to commit to the unknown.

Once you've decided how to do something roll it smooth with enough momentum to take you through without wobbling. and once you've commited remember not to grab the brakes suddenly!

    Happy mountain biking.

just for info sake you can also substitute fox float fluid for 85w gear oil as it's the same! I took a syringe to my motorbike shop and they filled it free of charge. These motorbike shops are a lot cheaper than mountain bike shops. puts us to shame!

any synthetic fork oil will do the trick really. I get all mine from a local motorbike shop. at the moment i have PJ1 5w and 10w which i mix but i've had silkolene in the past. Don't be fooled by MTB marketing! fox suspension fluid is just re-branded Torco RSF medium.

I like photograpy, and it's giving me a break from this introverted mountain biking forum away from people like terry limp-wrist :)

but seriously, i bet people who slag photography off are probably a)Gay and b)Hypocrites (who jump at the chance to see pretty mountain biking photos)

And what's this about photography not being art? I think those B+W prints of New York City people hang on their walls are kinda cool. And did you never see the little girl caught in a napalm attack in Vietnam? The little girl running down the street naked screaming? Did that not convey emotion? Ever heard the saying about a picture and a thousand words?

And just as photographers obsess over f-stops and focal lengths, mountain bikers obsess over TT lengths, tyre widths, shock strokes etc. and people post on here – "What tyres for riding in Calderdale over semi-aqueous ground and some babies head sized metamorphic rocks in the ratio of 40:65 with a chance of mild precipitation?"

seriously, just because you can't do it doesn't make it shit.

Hi i've just read this post and would like to offer you some words of encouragement. I was taken ill last year and had to stay in hospital while doctors a) figured out what was wrong with me and b) fed me through a drip to stop me losing weight/nutrients. I was passing a lot of blood and constantly hooked up to I.V fluids. after almost 2 months and having filled two drug-charts it was decided that i needed an emergency operation to remove my bowel. I had to deal with it quickly and shortly after the operation the reality that i would never be the same again sunk in and i hit rock bottom. I put a towel over my head and cried my eyes out.

Having come through that was like being born into a different world. I was introduced to foods that i hadn't been allowed to eat and they tasted divine. I had a new appreciation for everything around me, new found respect for people – just being allowed out of hospital and seeing trees and buildings and people on the streets made me realise how lucky i am. You will have highs and lows but stay strong and positive, focus on all the things you CAN do and all the things you DO have, and when you get through the other side, life will taste SWEET :)

yeah feels good to finally be getting this done.maybe i can have my pc back! have been down the hijack this route with it but ended up just using my laptop which crashed a few weeks ago after i dropped it. it keeps flickering at me as if its trying to tell me something! should have a nice stable platform to edit some photos on when this is done. not to mention more ram :)

if i had the money i'd get myself a 24" Imac

thanks steve, i never would've seen the option to delete the partition (or had the balls to use it).

Oh and Simoan, it's a full hard drive. you might be happy watching endless data transfers but i'm not!

have done all that, it went away, now it's back. Thats the situation.

RIGHT I HAVE HIT A PROBLEM!

when it asks me which partition to install windows XP on i can either choose (on the c drive) the partition with windows installed on it OR the un-partitioned space, OR i can choose my E: drive which has all my mp3s on it – which i don't want to do! So i chose the partition [ntfs] on the c drive already in use. But it then warns me about installing multiple copies on one partition. I want to get rid of the old operating system completely and start afresh. So i didn't go fully ahead with it yet. i'm waiting for your advice :)

drac, there's no other way to get rid of this trojan. it's been engrained in my computer for a couple of years now. by the way if you read the original post it clearly says i have 2 hard drives. and it's in my system files, not my mp3s. Thanks for the useful info steve.

ok i've just finisher trying to repair it with a different windows disk. It's now telling me the following:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair

Which would be fine if i had the original windows disk…..

    Have i stuffed it?
