I'm your size and used to ride a small Soda. I have a long torso and short legs (32" inside leg) always wondered if I'd of been better on a medium for all day rides. But for singletrack and tech riding it was fab.

I once did this by mistake, having read that it gave better grip, I left it like it for the ride to see what it would be like.

Yes, it does give slightly better grip, really noticeable on climbs – BUT, it doesn't roll as well, really noticeable on smooth bits and when using linking roads. Less so in the singletrack, but still felt a little odd. I put it back to normal afterwards.

Best friend? Get them something that will last longer than Thomas Cook vouchers!

That was my thought, he insisted he didn't want anything but this.

Oh, and take a look here for some words on it from another happy customer:

The new one is better (Subjective? Sure, and I've only ridden my new one once so far, but it is better for me).

Can't comment on the chainsuck yet on the new one obviously, but it was very bad on the old one.

Personally I prefer the look of the new one too.

Is either worth the money? Only you can decide that, I rode a Genesis Altitude as well and really liked it, but (Again for me) the Hummer is better. Is it 'worth' the extra? That's a personal decision – I say yes.

Are you certain you need an 18"? If you can get away with a 17" I may be able to point you in the right direction for an 'as new' from a shop if you are prepared to wait until Nov/Dec?

Have been riding (Not 2010 – don't know age) as a stop gap, rides better than I expected, but not great. Personally, as you mentioned it and I've also ridden it a bit the Genesis Altitude is a far better bike – IMO

Do like the new Cove graphics.

I heard it wasn't worth it on Fox, but was on Rockshox, I've been running Pushed Pikes for a couple of years now, considering the price of a standard service, which you effectively get as part of the upgrade, I think it is cost effective – there is a marked improvement.

I remember hearing a few years back that sleep should be in multiples of 3 hours,so 6 or 9 good, 7 or 8 bad – don't know how reliable that was though.

As mentioned above, quality of sleep is more important than quantity.

I'm normally 6ish, but every now and then will have a long catch up sleep.

I find that I need a Medium Endura outer, but a Large inner or lycra

Ditto – glad I'm not the only one!

Why would adding 20mm (before sag) of travel add 60mm to the bar height?

    My thoughts exactly.

Anyone ridden a genisis altitude ?

Yes – Absolutely loved it, thoroughly recommend it for Aggressive XC as you describe – the Reba 120mm Maxle fork perfectly matches it. You'll have to wait though, frame only is late Sept/Oct.

Block of wood on the top of the steerer tube and give it a whack, it'll be fine.

I’ve just recently done this set-up again, pig to get up at first. Left it for a bit and came back to it, up first time with a track pump. New valve cores helped as the old ones were a bit gunked up. Right mix and distribution of soap suds will help too. Only got lot of the clear tape on from memory.

Toying with the idea of a freeride at the mo, be interested in your comments on how it rides.

No need, it’s in MBUK next issue, alongside the Ragley Ti, Whyte 19Ti, Genesis Ti.

Interested bystander – I heard that the adjuster on the CRs works itself loose and needs re-adjusting periodically. Is this so?

Both are good in different ways, so ideally do both.

If you want lighter weight, go for Pushed Air, otherwise std coil.

Just done mine and the only tool I wished I’d had was the freehub seal tool for refitting.

One bike out of those 2? – Handjob

What would I personally do? – Sell the Pitch and the Handjob frame, get a Hummer and use the bits from the Handjob on that – sorted 8)

I’ve got the seal on the freehub groove, it’s getting it seated back on the hub that’s the problem – I’ll try easing it bit by bit then, was hoping there might be a cunning cheat 😉

As I’m in the market too at the mo – do letters in front or at the end matter? Just searched for 61804 2RS on a local suppliers website and came up with an SKF option of SKF618042RS1

IMO – Even with describing yourself as inept, leave the disc brakes and suspension to a shop then but you will be able to do everything else yourself.

As above, chain whip and lockring tool are worth buying, 4/5/6mm allen keys and a philips screwdriver will see you alright for most other jobs.
