“you get 20% off the RRP”

Yes you do, RRP is £200, the £180 is already reduced by 10%, the discounts aren’t cumulative.

    Very nice.

RRD – If you need a 17″ or 18″ frame, my LBS (Quest Adventure) currently has 1 of each on offer: http://www.questadventure.co.uk/index.asp?display=specials&specialcat=MTB%20Frames&specialId=321

If you want steel, go with the Soul. If you’d consider Ali then try a 19 as IMO the ali model is better than the steel option. Which to go for out of Soul or Ali 19 would be down to you though, both good in their own ways.

You might struggle getting a Whyte Ti at the mo.

When I looked only 2 of the 2010 frames in stock and 2011 not due until January or so.

If you can make the stretch, the Whyte 905 is a nice bike with a very nice spec.

You wouldn’t be disappointed with the 809 though.

Didn’t like the steel, too heavy.

That’s one of my thoughts, that it would lose some of the sprightly character. Is that a Ti in there then? How you finding it?

Thanks onceinalifetime and messiah, really helpful.

onceinalifetime – could I ask what other Ti hardtails you tried? If a Soda, Hummer or even a Ti456 I’d be interested in a comparison as I’ve slung my leg over those.

messiah – in what way are you looking for something different in geo?

onceinalifetime – How does the Ti handle tight, techy singletrack? Can you be a bit more specific on the sort of rough (big rock) stuff you need to take easy on? What else did you try before choosing the Ti 19? Ta

mtbfix – That’s the thing, I reckon I’d leave the dropouts alone, would only SS due to mech failure, so the 905 should be fine.

    Slight hijack.

Can anyone tell me if I need rim strips or can I just use the tape with the Flows?

That saved me the trouble, was going to post almost the exact same question today.

Snakebite – any more info on the new XTRs?

Looking to build something up at the mo, and was going with SLX as loved them on a demo bike, but seriously tempted to go with the new XTR.

I’d of said they come up small myself.

5′ 8″ and ride a medium in most things, 17″ Hummer felt too small, but fantastic in twisty stuff and pointing DH.

I think 19″ is where you need to be, shame as http://www.questadventure.co.uk/ have a 17″ and maybe an 18″ at the mo at a good price.

Patience with Curtis, as new things might be happening from what I can gather. Will inform more from possibly next week.

    Intriguing

    You are clearly ignorant 😉

You don’t have to like it and you should inform SO that you it does F all for you.

    Bores me to tears.

However, my wife is a ballerina and having told me some of what is involved I can appreciate the skill and dedication involved. Ever watched Swan Lake? You know all the swans in the background doing nothing? They’re all stood on one leg doing nothing, with it going dead for about 20 mins, and then suddenly they are meant to dance on it as if they are warmed up and limber.

If you don’t like it just don’t go, or have you got a HUGE thumb print on your forehead?

Ignoring material, and price, I’d say the Soul might be a better replacement/match for an old Hummer than a Soda is.

Could you elaborate? I’m genuinely interested due to my current predicament.

Either ignore it, or let a gap open, big gap, no I mean a really BIG gap, then close em down, hard – good training 😉

Oh, Ian Leitch – top bloke, great rider and even took time out to say thanks to the marshalls on his last lap whilst still racing. I doff my hat.

Totally agree, awesome effort and thanking the Marshalls as he passed to, what a great chap.

I marshalled too, hope the laughs/encouragment/heckling helped a few on their way. Everyone seemed to have a smile on their face. Hopefully I'll take part next year, but more than happy to help again.

Cove Hummer is possibly the worst bke I have ever rode, handled like a pig..:(

    In what way?

Tried the previous model, great fun, just asks you to and go and be silly, great cushioning from the stays on the bigger lumps too.

I wouldn't want one as an only/all day bike, great as a 2nd/play bike though.

Just saw the update, not sure about the tapered HT. Hmm, nice price though.

So now rather than Soul/Latitude, I think I need to add the Ti456 into the debate…

    Loved it.

Round of applause and cheering at the end from the audience when I watched it, and a loud groan at the end!

    just your riding position.

That's kinda what I was after. Want to isolate the change so any affect would be purely the geometry change.

So, if I'm running 0deg 70mm stem, would 5deg rise suffice? And would it need to be any longer?

Lovely little page that Alex, I can associate with some of that.

Looking at some of your ownerships I'd be interested to hear how you think the Hummer compares to the Soul and both to the PA?

    That's tidy looking.

What year frame is that? Looks similar to the 2008 but no window gussets?

Are those Rebas you've got on there? How do they suit the frame?
