Pretty much covered with all the posts above, so I’ll jump to the music bit.  If it’s playing, check out Guitar Centre just off Times Square.  There’s probably better, but that’s easy and convenient.

Also Ellen’s Dinner, no no, bear with me. There’s also a blues and jazz type club underneath.

“I have had a job offered to me with another company that I want to accept.”

“I suspect there will be a counter offer that I’d like to chat about”

To paraphrase The Clash – are you looking to stay or go?

Whilst you can verbally advise (ie call in), most companies would want your notice in writing, and would not act upon anything you have said until this is received. It is normal within that to state the notice you are giving and when you intend your last day.

So, if you really do want to explore the counter offer, best bet is to wait until you are back at work and request a meeting with the appropriate Manager/HR to verbally advise them of the situation and see where it goes.

If you really want to go, any counter offer is pointless as you will have itchy feet now and be off within 6 months anyway. In that case, phone Manager/HR, verbally advise them and then post your notice letter recorded delivery.

K2so reminded me of Stewie Griffin a bit.

    This.

Commented the exact same thing to the friends I watched it with.

I would suggest waiting a little, for the details of the Mason Aspect Ti, essentially the Resolution in Ti with a couple of subtle changes – it’s what I’m waiting for, to upgrade from the Resolution.

I’m under the impression, that whilst ‘off the peg’, due to the expected low volume, there may be some tweaking available.

I’d wait a little bit. VW are about to announce the facelifted Mk VII, rumour has it in November. Which should give you the option to grab the latest version, or pick up the slightly dated model at a better price.

Some very good advice and perspectives in this thread.

You say that work is depressing – is it? Or are you already feeling that way and seeing work as depressing because of it?

As stated before, seem to be far more common than you’d realise, there is a lot of pressure on 40 something males.

From recent experience, if you get to the point of needing professional help (Counselling), pay for it. In my area, the NHS are limited in what they will support, you’ll be on waiting list, and more likely to be part of group sessions. Going direct, I saw someone within a week, 1 to 1 sessions. Yes, the money racks up, but it was worth every penny – much happier person now with a better perspective on life. I went with a specific goal, from the first session, the counselor identified historic issues that he suggested we return to after dealing with the issue I had presented for.

The most important thing is you’ve identified there is a problem.

I’ve used Philishave (Now Philips) for years and would of recommended them, but recently they’ve gone downhill.

The battery life on my RQ12xx series degraded, and needed sending, twice under warranty, and is now doing the same again outside of warranty. Also the heads seemed to blunt earlier, and when I replaced with the new style, my old shaver that I kept for emergency/back up, with worn heads, shaved better! So I used that til it died completely.

Have to say that I have enjoyed the convenience of electric for years. Tend to not shave at weekends, and now shave wet on a Monday morning, for whatever reason not the hassle I remember it being. Am toying with reverting to wet shaving after all these years.

Either that or trying a Braun…

I enjoyed it, but preferred Civil War.

Some good laughs in it, agree with muggomagic – Wolverine bit was ace.

Surely the point at which N+1 becomes silly is when:

    N+1 > LBS ?

Personally I wouldn’t compromise on a rear light, as that’s the way traffic coming up behind you will see you.

If it was me I’d find a way to afford a decent rear and get the Volt 1200 that you like.

Yep, just get the biggest/tallest tyres on there and call it 26+. It is the next big thing.

Recently gone from 172.5mm to 170mm on a road bike, feels so much better for me.

I have a long body and short legs.

It’s made enough of an improvement to feel that I’ll probably drop to 172.5mm on the MTB

I’m soooooo tempted to the darkside, solely down to this…

    http://masoncycles.cc/

Ridden it, loved it, getting one.

What the OP describes is a very familiar story, I’ve been there before, went back to MTB but find myself there again. For me the CX route wasn’t quite right, don’t get me wrong, it’s a hoot off road, but found myself riding it a lot on the road – and wanting something more road focused. Then Dom came along with his new brand…

Hoping to keep all 3, Road, CX and MTB to cover all ground.

i know that what i would ideally want is something carbon, di2, racey and with discs

OK, it’s a bit mainstream but perhaps:

    Baaaa

Or drop the Di2 and stretch your budget a little for the 105/Hydro build of one of those Masons you like:

Hmm, link doesn’t look right on the preview, so copy and past this into your browser:

Default answer would be Metallica – Master of Puppets, loads of other great suggestions on here, well done on the Dnazig.

Can’t believe there’s no mention of Overkill – Years of Decay is a Thrash classic!

Pantera – Cowboys from Hell – Recorded in 89 but released in 1990 – damn 🙁
    Megadeth – Peace Sells
Testament – Practice what you Preach
Flotsam and Jetsam – Doomsday for the Deceiver
    Danzig – Danzig
Anthrax – Among the Living and State of Euphoria
    Motely Crue – Dr Feelgood
Almighty – Blood, Fire and Love
    Skid Row – Skid Row
    Annihilator – Alice in Hell
Faith no More – The Real Thing
    Mordred – Fool’s Game

toby1 – Agree about commuting on drops, was just trying to highlight that I believe the ACE will be a variation on a theme.

For those not following Kinesis on twitter:

But I don’t ‘know’ anything, just guestimating.

If you look at the ACE, the C is for commute. It won’t be just an alloy version of the Tripster, it will be a different bike, flat bars rather than drop.

cinnamon_girl – I’m using the Kinesis CX Disc wheels, they’re great, so far indestructible off-road, plenty good enough for the road. Thoroughly impressed with them.

36/46 up front with 11-25 at the rear, can be a little difficult off road at times so might change to a 28.

    Absolutely fantastic bike.

It’s responsible for getting me out riding again. It loves road rides, it loves off-road rides, it loves mixed rides. I’m amazed at how capable it is off-road, and that’s with the standard 32mm tyres, can’t wait to get something around 40mm on.

The type of ride it seems most suited to is a ‘follow your nose’ ride, taking you where you fancy.

For reference for sizing, I’m a tad under 5′ 8″, 29″ inside leg, riding a 51, fits perfectly.

Oh, and Ti King Cages compliment it nicely.

I’m similar proportions to you (Long torso and short legs) and same height, and often face the frame size dilemma of going small or medium as I tend to be on border of both. I have managed to make both work, but a small frame tends to feel more playful.

Looking at your photo, your ankle looks slightly dropped. Personally I ride a little more toe down, so you may want to consider popping the saddle up a bit? With the seattube angle you wouldn’t then need to pop the saddle further back.

    Shorter stem and wider bars?

Haven’t tried a Pro6, but tried the prototype Tripster ATR and fell in love with it, now own one.

It would handle your 20 mile commute easily in cross guise, slap some road tyres on and even better. Will easily handle light off-road you describe, I’ve been riding same stuff I would on my MTB and having a lot of fun.

I too suffered from the Legendary Lynskey Build Quality, twice.

    That’s it, never Ti again…ever.

And then along came the Kinesis Sync and Tripster ATR. Have purchased a Tripster and the Sync is currently on the ‘wish list’ for my next MTB.

My Hummer did the same, same model as yours.

Fortunately it was the 2nd time for me, so when the standard repair option was put forward my LBS was able to be a bit more pushy.

Same height and inside leg as you.

I went for a 16″ with a 70mm stem and it always felt a little too cramped for me, so I reckon the 17″ would be best.
