I like mine. Good fit, comfy, well vented, well made. Bit heavy.(350 gm)

Got mine from amazon – used . Only £53-it was new (box lid was torn) – probably customer return. Well chuffed. I dont know if I’d pay £130 for one though.

I know the 303s gained a bad reputation for cracking. What’s the situation on the 305s. Perhaps previous rep putting people off ?

Use tubeless on 3 bikes. 2 with standard folders. 1 with TLR Schwalbes. Of course the one with most problems were the TLR Schwalbes – multiple small leaks in the carcass.

Methinks the forks are to long for the frame. It’s a Sikorski Chickadee by the way. I think frame designed for 80/100mm forks.

Thought the ratchet hub only on race x lights (pre 2009) . Thought race lites 370 hubs ? 2009 were formula hubs. If ratchet hub will need the special tool to get to one of the bearings.

Personally I’ve bought several bikes from them in the past – Carreras are good value for money, though their habit of having sales at BHs can be annoying unless you realise what they do.

However their website is not the most pleasant to use.

The problem with the indesit is that when the heater goes it can take out the PCB which is very expensive to replace. The heater is pretty easy to replace by itself.
I had one for 4 years – after 24 months the heater failed. I replaced the heater, but when it failed again 24 months later i scrapped it. You are lucky it’s lasted 3 years to be honest.

Better to buy something more reliable.

DAB radios used to be known as Destroy All Batteries, so a rechargeable might have a short playtime. Got no knowledge of rechargeable myself though Pure Dabs seem very good (mains)

Of the previous generation of shimano disc brakes – the LX, XT and XTR (960 and 970) All used the same pads. I’ve used all threemodels However the lx always howled/sqealed/ vibrated (2 pairs plus pair on my mates bikes) whereas the other models never did. Never discovered why despite incessant tinkering with different pads/discs/mounts.

See here – http://www.eastoncycling.com/en-gb/road/faqs/wheel-faqs/ They offer a repair/replace rim service.

Got to be cheaper than a new wheel ??

“11. Does Easton offer additional warranty coverage for crashes?
While other manufacturers provide ‘extended warraties’, Easton has found several drawbacks to this system. First, you may never need the coverage, and cannot recoup your investment once the extended period is over. Second, since these programs must be initiated at time of purchase, this is only available to the original owner and requires a snap decision. Finally, even an extended warranty may not cover the long life of your wheels(certainly not an Easton wheel!)
However, we understand that crashes do happen, and that this should not require replacing the entire wheel. To accommodate for these cases, Easton offers a “Rim Package” for all wheels. In the case of a crash(or any damage to the rim), you may return the wheel to our Wheel Service Center to have the rim replaced at a discounted price. The cost includes a new rim, nipples, and a professional build by our Easton wheel technicians. A new rim will carry a new serial number, thus renewing the rim’s 2-year warranty. Additionally, every wheel receives a 32 point inspection, so additional repairs can be recommended and completed during the service.*
Any Easton wheel is eligible for this program, for as long as you own it. No up-front cost, no time limit, and no receipt necessary.
Please call our Customer Service(877-835-6629) for questions, pricing, or a Return Authorization.
*Any cost for additional parts and repair is charged separately from Rim Package.”

I used to motorcycle in the 7os and 80s retiring my bikes in 1992. At the time the only filtering i came across was in town traffic at barely walking pace.

I’m amazed at some of the filtering i have seen in the last few years. It’s an incredibly dangerous practice. You can shout thats it’s legal all you want – to me it seems a bit dumb – car drivers are not expecting you to be there.

I hope that your injuries heal soon.

Your best bet is ebay for normal size or http://www.cannondale-parts.de/Headshok-stem for o/s.

I know when looking myself could only pick up 25.4 stems on ebay

i’m not so sure at the Belkin recommendation., the one i used 18 months ago was a nightmare – totally unreliable and a bastard to set up.- worked on one pc but not another etc etc. Beating it to death with a hammer solved my stress problems

i thought advantages of mineral oil is that it not hydroscopic like the other stuff.

I’ve set of deore brakes which were last bled 6 years ago – do they work fine – yes.

as long as you kept lid on and its not been contaminated i presume its ok/or you will die

Pauls probably your only chance of deore/slx new for £500 – such as this http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m1b0s2p3026/SCOTT-ASPECT-20-2010.

otherwise you are looking 2nd hand

Their V brakes are/were superior to shimanos efforts for the same price. Avid arch rivals if set up properly could be/are amazing.

Sadly their disc brakes don’t seem to be in the same league.

expensive new I agree – but always turning up on ebay – quite often as new. There was a set of new 2013 race lites (approx 1450 gms ) that went for less than £140 (with tyres) 2 weeks ago. Still kicking myself about not bidding on them :(

myself , being a fellow lardarse would suggest bontragers – dt swiss hubs and no weight limits. you would get a nearly new set of race x lites for less than £200 and running tubeless is embarrassingly easy.

Perhaps you have a loose connection – I had this on an old Hotpoint washing machine – it vibrated the control board components so much that the board had to be re soldered (but then again this was the only washing machine i’ve had that hated water and vibration). It used to start spinning and then cut out as soon as it got above a certain RPM and then kept on repeating ad nauseam. I’d check your connections first.

Ps Its kosher (pedantic i know :-))

Hayes 9s I had were reliable and then the calipers started to rot – paint flaked off and then seals went. Meanwhile my old Shimano 525 have gone on for years….

by her own hopes she was a complete failure

“Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope.”

She achieved that then as witnessed on here.

I’m in my fifties and have a vivid recollection of life in the UK before and during Thatcher’s reign. I’ve always thought that without Thatcher, the UK could have grown into a modern prosperous economy, where the economy serves the whole of the population rather than a small proportion of the population , with the vast majority serving them. As a consequence of Thatcher the postwar consequence was broken and directly led to the problems we face now.

I came across this quote the other day from J K Galbraith and I think it sums up Maggies legacy :

‘The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.’

Glad you are not badly hurt. It always amazes me the number of drivers in supermarket car parks who are surprised to see you waking to and from your car – how do they expect to get from the car to to supermarket and back ?
