Erm. Carrera bike, say two hundred quid. Ignoring tax that’s over 70k pa. If you’re going to be dismissive, at least be realistic. Why would a single mother earning that post tax be studying.

I call it ‘the terminator’. First I crouch down in the shower in the classic ‘naked terminator traveling through time’ pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the chick in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through my day as an emotionless, cyborg . The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.

    bravo

that’s brilliant, we had our first last august and it’s been amazing. I’d worry about the excercise later, i commute more by bike, also get up up way earlier on a weekend, i’m lucky i have friends in similar position, if you want to, it doesn’t have to be that difficult. and think it’s important to get a bit of space.. 😀

Interesting idea, my wife is coeliac, I on the other hand am a sandwichaholic. Might give it a go.

Caadx again, not sure it’s a stylish racer, but for the money I think it’s bang on.

I’ve had unfortunate experiences with stopping smoking. Going cold turkey in the past has always been the most effective. But you need a time slot to do it in and personal issues can get in the way.

always the most effective?? Not sure how always and effective work in the same sentence about quitting.
I gave up nearly five months ago now. Have to agree with don (although Alan Carr didn’t do it for me) it was getting my head ready that worked, my way was; No excuses, just get it done. Then it will be over far sooner than patch/placebo prolongation. I imagined it as a hangover and realised I’d would be over soon, and sure enough, with far less stress than I imagined, it was.

Each to their own though. Still really pleased with myself. Saved four hundred quid too.

Why even start a thread like this if you’re not prepared to even try anything different?

if you want new shoes, just buy them.

Is it really worth it? At what rate would you charge? And over what period. I recover overpayments for a living and wouldn’t go near trying to get interest on that little, I’d be more interested in a quick repayment and put it down to experience. If you want to keep using the company, it might be worth a discount though.

ten hilly yorkshire miles each way, can’t do more than 4 days though without losing my legs for the weekend.

wouldn’t wear one of those tabards though, say a driver saw it, slowed down, read it properly, then sees you the next day, do that to the wrong sort of person. no thanks.
not to mention what your fiendly plod might say.

Yup. My son would go nowhere if I thought his well-being was at stake. Not a dig, just blocks to court.

I’d go super scientific and go for a slow twenty minute shuffle. Do that every few days, maybe for a fortnight maybe for a week, Trying to get faster, then add ten minutes, and repeat. keep upping the distance. build up gentle. get your head round enjoying it, day dream, podcasts, that sort of thing. But keep trying to a go a bit faster. No coasting.

It’s a good place, I go up there every few months, quite often just do a lap of the top half, it’s the more rewarding one (for the timebeing). I like it, the bit up to whelpstone cray and around is great. Used to be hard work, but occasionally spend a bit of time playing around up there. Probably my favourite bit as I find it a challenge to go fast over the rocks. I would also agree that the place will hopefully one day be awesome.

Small point mat. I wouldn’t be complaining about having my time wasted. You’re on holiday and asking for our advice. A bit of fairly friendly ribbing would seem a decent price for lots of good advice. Like I said. If you’re not a troll don’t let it get to you. But as far as I can see, no one’s wasting your time.

I’ve never been laughed at on my steel one, I get more ridicule on the BMX!

Are you 15 though? You’re reiterating David’s point, you get laughed at on a bmx because you are too old for (although i don’t think you are), Matt on the other hand would get laughed at for a carbon 456 because he’s too young for it(see above). i think the 456 is a good bike for a beginner who wants to get into non specific mountainbiking, But his first video suggested he wanted, essentially, to get into dirt jumping and there’s little doubt pinkbike know more about doing that on the cheap and i doubt they would be recomending a 456.

456 is built for abuse far beyond most poeple’s skills, you’ll brake/break before it does. don’t worry about the trolling thing, if you’re genuine, then you’re doing nothing wrong, rise above it. it’s just people are wary of wasting time on wind-up merchants, of which there are plenty.

In 6 months it will be winter again.

whatever you choose, do you want to miss out on summer? £1300 is a very good amount of money to spend a first, non halford, special. 2nd hand fs, or new hardtail. either way…enjoy.
