Building a cheap singlespeed from scratch did it for me. It didn’t stay cheap for long, but that’s ‘coz I’m crap, but the simplicity of it brought me back. I built mine rigid to start and used it as an excuse just to have fun on easy stuff.

I did the etape.du dales earlier this year pretty much double the longest I had ridden. Started really early. Ate loads, it was fine. My neck was also more trouble than my legs. Just don’t be shy of jumping on the back of a group.

Gave up on the 16th january this year, was prompted by the other smoking thread (and having a child). Had a few lapses, probably smoked twenty cigarettes since then. But considering i used to be able to do that on a night out i’m not going to beat myself over that.

I am now a stone + heavier though, but as i am getting made redundant in a couple of weeks, i should have plenty of time to do something about that 😆

Course was shit, but it was worth it to meet people going through the same thing at the same time. Fortunately i was away biking for quite a few of the sessions.

Bang on about the negativity. For my wife though, she doesn’t know many local people who don’t work full time so it was good for her to have poeple to meet up with during her maternity leave.

i quite like sitting in the lounge with the main light on without her complaing that it’s too bright and she needs mood lighting.

i bought some angostura bitters and maraschino cherries the other week, which i though made me qualify as an adult. The amount of old fashioneds i then drank on a work night was really quite irresponsible, i then felt as old as time in the morning.so it’s ups and downs really.
