    Hi Hock,

Yes, the soda fits in without a problem. It’s like the car was designed for it!

I’m 6′ so have a lot of seatpost out and it goes in at an angle, then lays nice and flat.

Also, yes. Take the wheels and seatpost out and the whole lot will fit under the luggage cover. When I do this I keep the wheels in a wheel bag just to protect the car a bit.

One thing I should point out is that I only run 680mm bars. You could use longer ones but it’ll get trickier.

One thing I would suggest is to go to the main dealers and try, even if you’re not buying new. They’re pretty accommodating if you look serious. I tried my bike and my dog!

One car you haven’t got on your list is the current Civic. It’s a great bike car, the rear seats fold up as well as down. In the up position you can easily get two bikes in with the front wheel off and a dog in the boot!

I have a current 3 series touring and I can get my medium cotic in with both wheels on without a problem. My 29er wouldn’t fit in with both wheels on, another good reason to keep away from clown wheels.

It’s not the biggest boot in the world, but if bikes fit in its big enough for me.

One other good thing is that if you take both wheels off it’ll fit in the boot with the luggage cover over it. Great if you take your bike away with you and need to carry clients. The smell of gt85 always gives away the secret!

Go for a Fiat Multipla – that’s reason enough to have a big family.

If you can’t take that level of ugly, how abot Honda FR-V

Both cars are 3 in front and 3 in the back.

I’ve got my first one on the way and am already thinking about a bigger car!

The bike i’ve kept the longest and still love every time is my Cotic Soda.

It’s the latest model which is lynskey made and rides so well.

I keep giving 29ers a try, but couldn’t bare to part with my soda.

Its my fourth ti frame, 5th if you count a warranty replacement Hummer.

As said before, don’t plan on it being a bike for life, bikes can break and if not i’m sure you’ll fancy a change at some point. (I’m around 85kg and ride pretty light, but i’ve broken a frame or two in the past)

If you can still get a Soda, do it i’m sure you’d love it, but seriously consider the Soul first. You could buy 2 and get them powder coated every year for 10 years and still be in pocket.

I’ve had a BFe and an PA, both great bikes. You’ll love either one.

From memory, they frames are very similar weights.

If i was choosing between the two i’d get another BFe, it felt a little more ‘fun’.

The blue and the Gritstone are great colours.

    Bargain at £300 too!

I’ve told myself I’m a one bike man many time, but I’ve currently got a super light cotic soda with 120mm forks and a rigid Pace 129e 29r.

The rigid 29er has an Alfine at the back so it is so easy to look after and great in the bad weather. It’s a stunning frame, it does roll smoother and takes out the unwanted ruts and bumps.

The cotic us my dream build, it’s super fast and alwas so much fun. It’ll be really hard to sell as it’s the second one I’ve had after regretting the sale of my first one…

My big problem is which one do I keep??? If I could justify it, I’d keep both but I can’t!

I’m thinking that a with super light wheel set to counter the rotational mass issue on up hills and slow suff the 29er is the one to keep.

I tried rigid on the cotillion and it wasn’t half as much fun compared to the 26er.

If you want and are allowed a rigid spare bike I’d go for a 29er without a second thought.

    Thanks for all the comments.

Not sure what it weighs as yet, ill get it into the shop tomorrow.

The forks are DT Swiss XRR470, super light full carbon ones.

Thanks, mine is a size large. I’m 6′ and it fits well with a 70mm stem.

If you’re anywhere near Norfolk you’re welcome to have a go on it.

The frame is far nice than it looks in pictures, it’s a proper work of art with loads of little details.

The red pedals won’t be on for long, i just needed to get it ready for riding tomorrow.

DT Swiss XRR470, the name gives away the length!!

Fantastic forks and the lightest you’ll find.

I’d suggest 120mm is best for the Soul, i’ve tried more on a Bfe which i believe is the same geometry and it didn’t feel half as good as 120.

I ran my soda at 100mm for a while and it was too sharp for my taste, currently on 120mm Sids.

If you’re looking for a frame to suit your forks, my mate is looking to sell his 20” Ragley ti for not much more than a new Soul. Fantastic bike, just a little too slack for his XC riding

I know they’re not crownless, but they’re an amazing pair of forks…

I haven’t tried the newer Magura, but i think they’ll strugle to better the 2012 120mm Sid XX.

I’ve got a pair on my Cotic Soda and they’re the best forks i’ve tried. They replaced some F120 RLC Fits and i think they’re stiffer and better.

I might be selling my Sid’s to go 29er, let me know if you’d be interested.

Really like that – i think i’ll build my Dialled PA into a street bike too.

    Had one and loved it!

It was a little more suited to bigger terrain than the areas i get to ride regularly so i sold it and bought a soda.

The soda cant take such a long fork, but i found the Hummer worked best around 120-130 anyway.

My Hummer broke too, but a warranty replacemnt was given without a problem. It developed a strange crack horizontally on the top tube where it joins the seat tube.

I still have the medium soda, but am considering parting with it.

Here’s my old one – it was fantastic.
Replaced it with a Soda, which other than weight it’s no better!

Ive always had Fox for almost 10 years, but have switched back to RS.

I had some 2010 F120 RLC Fit and have switched to SID xx, they feel a much better fork. They’re heavier which was a shock and I miss having fox styling /brand, but these feel better.

    Hope that helps.

I’m a 29er first ride convert – it’s different, but in my view better.

If you’ve got a nice 26er – don’t even try one. You’ll end up selling the bike you love(d).

Those white wheels do look good – i tried come on mine, but without white forks it looked a little odd.

With Bol needing his wheels back soon i best start looking for some nice ones. Anyone with a spare DT240s build or just hubs?

    It’s a shiny new medium!

It does look small, but it’s quite long in the top tube. It’s longer than my soda, so I’ve fitted a 70mm stem.

    Really excited!

Wow, what a lot of Bob’s!

I’m really excited about my first ride, my only concern is thats it’s my first ride rigid for 18 years too.

I’m sort of worried that I’ll like big wheels and want to sell my dream ‘proper’ wheeled bike.

Now Ive got the bike, the next big decision is what beard to go for. Any suggestions Bob?

I run Nobby Nicks front and rear both 2.1’s

Panaracer Fire xc pro’s work well too.

I’ll be there tonight for a quick post work blast – can’t wait. (Must avoid hitting the tree in the carpark again!)

    Hi Andy,

I had similar issues too! I ended up buying some new tubeless ready Nobby nicks, they were easy to get on and the rim seat was perfect, but the sidewalls leaked like crazy. Lots of sealant later, theyre sealing perfectly.

    Good luck.

It’s a genuine weight – on two different types of bike shop scales just to be sure. One is a Park tools set the other brand i dont know.

Thomson equipment is pretty light, but not the lightest. What it looses in weight, it makes up for in durability and quality of finish.

My friend has a ragley and it is significantly heavier, partly due to the 140mm talas.

If you add the offical weights up of all the parts, it should be a fraction around 19.5lb!

Thanks to most of you for your positive comments, i love it too.

Cy – i’d probably go for 15Qr if i didn’t already have the forks and hubs. It was a step too far to change them!

I recently sold a 2010 Cove Hummer to buy this one, previously has a 2009 Cotic Soda, a Ti Prince Albert and have tried a few other ti hardtails.

The Cotic geometry and size, just feels right for me and where i ride.

It’s been an long and expensive build, hopefully i can keep this for a very long time.

I find denial works best for that! If the bike doesn’t look too flash is can’t have cost that much.

I lied about the weight, it came in at bang on 21lb. Not too bad!

I agree, the chain does look too long, but it needs to be like that for the 2×10 to work well in all gears.

Gear cables on, hoses cut down, re-beld and ready to ride. Really excited!

    DT’s over CK’s, that’s a tricky one!

DT are lighter and much easier to maintain, but even with the ratchet upgrade only 36t pick up. The coating is not that great if you use them all year and they look a little basic.

CK hubs are very pretty and remain looking good due to the anodised coating. They are strong and have amazing pick up. The need regular maintenance and special tools.

I’ve had both and have stuck with DT.

Ive always fancied having a ti frame with polished forks and silver CK hubs with silver Thomson finishing kit.

Thanks, not sure about the weight.

The frame was only 1480g and the wheels/tyres were over 450g lighter thanking set on my BFe, so I guess just over 20lb’s should be about right.

I’ve had mavic ST’s, Roval SL’s and have now got DT 240’s with the ratchet upgrade built into stans Alpine with black SuperComp spokes. It’s the best Wheelset ive had and at 1450g one of the lightest too.

The mavic hubs are nothing special and the spokes/rims are a pain to get hold of.

Personally, id go custom build from JRA or your local bike shop.

They got me too! Ordered a number of things from CRC last week and and recieved a call from the bank at the weekend.

Who ever is doing this is never going to run out of credit on their T-mobile account!!

I think an email to CRC is in order.
