The scam was identical, price negotiated on the phone, couldn’t make it, met at a train station! Too similar for coincidence!

    Avoid!

I got stung by almost exactly the same sack and list £11k.

They will want to give you a bankers draft and it will look fine but will be a copy/fake. They will have a genuine one somewhere but be doing the same scam at the same time to lots of folk.

Your bank will credit you when the draft is handed in, then the money will be removed as it’s a fake.

I’m in too, I live in norwich but only get there once or twice a year.

Can I suggest the last weekend in July?

My 2010 318d touring had the same thing happen.

I didn’t know there was an issue, but it didn’t sound right so I took it in to be checked over. BMW said it was the cam chain tensioner that was failing!

The engine had to come out and have parts replaced. That was at 76k, I think it’s just started happening again at 100k. They sorted it at no cost to me, lets hope they do it again.

It’s been a pretty troubled car, two steering racks, replaced front suspension and a problem with the clutch. I’ve had it from new and drive like an old lady so I’m not very impressed.

It’s a shame really as its a great car, 50+ mpg, fun to drive and all day comfy.

Take it to a professional, I had my toad bike stay fixed for under £70.

Wrecker, you obviously don’t like them, but I have a Nibe air to water heat pump and it’s great.

We have a good sized 4 bed house, some dating from 1860’s, but well insulated and dry lined where there are no cavities. The roof insulation is ok, but needs to be improved as its just about the minimum.

We have underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs.

The heat pump works really well. We have the house at a constant 20c and our combined heating lighting and cooking works out to be around £90/month.

We had no option for gas, so it was oil or lpg and heat pumps are much better long term choices than either of those.

The payback is not crazy quick, but it works and works really well.

Wrecker, why don’t you like Nibe?

I’ve had a blur classic and 5.5evp, so not exactly the comparison you’re looking for, but I may be able to help.

I’d say a medium SC lt will be too small if you’re 6′ I had a large one, but saying that my intense was a medium.

The 5.5 is crazy steep, but with 140 it feels amazing. With an adjustable fork 120 was ideal for climbing, 140 felt a little wayward. I’d personally go no longer than 140 on one. The bb is low and the angles are steep, but it’s the fastest trail bike I’ve owned.

Both bikes have a scary shock bush and bearing appetite, so be aware of that and get the tools.

Get the right fit and they will both be great bikes.

Here’s a pic of ours, just before a deep clean and seal. The sealing made it a warmer colour. Our house is an 1860’s but I think it works. To keep it soft and not feel like a villa we had oak door thresholds put in, it works to devide the space up well.
One with a bike in for good measure!

I would suggest natural, but avoid anything too plain, pale or shiny. We went for pale Portuguese limestone, it looks stunning and although well sealed it has been stained by red wine. Natural stone with a pattern is a great option as like pub carpets, a pattern hides a multitude of sins. A few marks are characterful, I think it’s getting better with age.

We had polished marble in our last kitchen and the walkways became dull with traffic and a crazy dog.

Anything with a print or surface finish can wear off or chip, if its the same all the way through its got to be better, hasn’t it?

My boy’s only 7 months, but has great head control and is on the 98% line too. It’s a snug fit for him with his snow suit on, so i be amazed if he can still use it at age 4.

I borrowed this seat from my lbs, they do yepp too, but as this one was going spare I went for it.

Halfords are doing 20% off online on the weeride, so makes them ok money.

I’ve fitted mine a little different from the way they recommend, mainly as I was scared bolting it to a carbon post.

It does make you ride bandy legged and getting on/off can be trickier but it’s not bad and as I’m not going wild with him on I doubt it’ll ever be a problem. I will get a dropper post to make it easier.

Thanks guys, I had to be stopped taking him out again this afternoon! Instead we went out for an 8 mile walk with him in the backpack.

Having babies is the best reason to get out and about. I can’t wait until he does more than sleep when he gets in the backpack.

The bar ends are Ergon GP3’s, they’re great on a flat bar, a little odd on my riser bar.

Thanks guys, I’ve just checked and they’ve got stock at a good price.

It’s a shame any uk shops can’t do the same, but if it has the warrantee at least I’ll be covered.

What ever you end up doing I’d fit one of these to hold it all together.

Cotic X, my mate uses one on the road as his winter bike. They’re lovely to look at, have disks and the new one has rack mounts.

I’m running dt240s hubs with stans alpine and supercomp spokes with brass nipples. Including the rim tape and valve they weighed 1460g the pair. They’re the best wheels I’ve owned and get used for everything.

The alpine rim is almost as wide as the crest but a bit deeper and much better looking.

    These look a bargain… http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=92078

I’ve got a 2010 diesel tourer in loaded SE spec, it’s a great car in many ways but not without problems. I’ve had it from new and clocked up around 40k per year.

It’s been back to BMW a number of times…. New suspension at the front twice due to failed shockers and squeaks. New steering rack, new boot lid gas struts, engine out to have the tensioners replaced and a few other little things.

Other than the above it’s run like a dream, great to rack up the miles with 54+ mpg on a run and around 52 if driven locally and in town.

The boot space is pretty poor, but you can get a 26″ medium hardtail in the boot with both wheels off and under the luggage cover. Drop both seats and it’ll go in with both wheels on.

We’ve got a dog (springer) and he needs all the boot, so if you have children you’ll need a top box if you’re going away for more than a night.

All in all, it’s a good car, but the boot will be smaller than your 306 and something like a Passat tdi would be a better family/bike car choice.

I will be changing mine for either the new 320d or Passat if the new one is out next year. Hope this helps.

I’ve not owned a soul or handjob, but have had two soda’s and a hummer. I sold my first one to get he hummer….regretted it, sold the hummer and purchased a new soda.

Cotic have got it just right.

Ti hard tails really seen to have gone out of ‘fashion’ it’s great to see so many beauties here. The de-stickered hummer looks great. Don’t you wish Fox had made a special coating that was ti colour, not morning after pee.

Three of the best?? Cove Hummer, Ragley ti and a Cotic soda. We’ve all changed since then, my hummer made way for a Soda.

    Here it is!!

I run some specialised fact carbon ones on mine, the zerts make them look a little ugly, but it rides really well. I’m using avid sd7 canti’s and they work a treat.

Specialised had issues with their carbon forks and sent boxes of replacements to their dealers, pop in and see if they have any spares knocking around. Mine are black fading into carbon weave and look great.

I have a RAM mount, it’s not waterproof and doesn’t offer any protection, but it holds the phone really well and doesn’t rattle. I only have it mounted to my road bike as I prefer to pop my phone in a case and in my pocket when I’m off road.

I have an Ultimateaddons mount and case you can have for £10 posted if you want it. It’s one ride old and as new. I couldn’t handle the little rattle on my road bike. It gets great reviews and the case is really waterproof.

Sadly gone now, it was a great bike! Pace 129 with Alfine and DT Rigid forks.

I’ve had 3 29ers now and like the other guy said, I don’t regret any of them, just prefer the feel of 26″ wheels.

I’ve tried almost exactly the same build as my 26er, so it’s not that, I just found the smoothness took some of the fun out.

29ers are great, and if I could have a 26″ and a 29″ to ride whenever I’d probably do it, but knowing me I’d always take the ‘small’ wheels one out .

My best advise would be to go to a proper demo day and ride an ‘equal to yours’ build for a day. If you buy a cheapish one to give it a try, I’m sure you’ll not enjoy it as much.

The big wheels do roll faster when up to speed and I noticed a benefit when climbing on rocky trails, but the lag conning out of tight turns kills it for me.

I’ll be giving 650b a try soon! It appears to be best of both, if sadly slightly more niche than both.

    Thanks Bol,

Yes, I have a 2011 Soda for sale, it’s a 17.5″, so exactly what you’re after. It’s in as new condition, that’s the beauty of ti!
It will come with a Chris King SV headset and Nokon gear cables. Ideally I’m looking for £950, but am open to offers.

I also have some 120mm SID XX forks and a pair of super light (but strong) wheels built using DT swiss 240s hubs, with supercomp and Stans Alpine rims to go with it if you’re interested.

I switched from Fox F120 RLC Fit to SID XX 120 and felt a noticeable improvement in stiffness.

SID’s are great, go for it!

I have my XX 120’s for sale I’d you’re interested…. 2012, 120mm, std steerer, white and qr. Yours for £320 posted!

I love the cotic blue too, I’m seriously thinking about a Solaris in the same colour.
Here’s my BFe that I had for a while.

Why – they ride great, lots of other bikes tried but I always come back to cotic
    Setup – light and flashy
Why a Soda – slightly lighter than s soul and no paint to scratch

I need a roadrat now, they look perfect.

Hi Monksie, thanks for getting back to me.

Apparently he’s posted one pair but they got lost in the post?? The second pair were meant to be posted on Saturday 12th May, but since then i’ve heard nothing and no tyres have arrived.

Let’s hope he is just rubbish at communication.

I’ve just remembered his full name…. Andy Bourne

    He’s from hemel Hempsted.

I paid him for some Tyres that still havent arrived and he’s stopped replying to my emails.

If you type in andy Bourne Hemel Hempsted into google it comes up with a previous Singletrack thread when he was called ‘Lyons’.

    This is not looking good!

Any help would be greatly apreciated.
