Get an outdoor camera if you’re monitoring outside as the inside one will use infrared at night and reflect off the glass and you won’t see anything! I use Ring as don’t care what Amazon spys on..

Also in the feeling rough but ‘no positive’ test camp, been feeling super fatigued since Friday and got a slight sinuses headache and tickly throat.

Gutted though as will have to miss the lads Mtb/camping trip to the Peaks tomorrow, also got a three day bikepacking trip planned in nine days time, which hopefully I’ll feel better for.

Depends on what wildlife photography you want to do, the only negative is the slow continuous shooting mode of 3 frames per second.

Decided to ride the Singletrack cakes and ladders route.

Ive just started using Peatys biofibre sealant based on Guy K’s review, haven’t had the bad luck of a puncture yet but got a few big rides planned in the near future, so hopefully its as good as Guy says it is (either that or I’m just a sucker for biased reviews)

Thanks for the link to the thread, trying to search here can be a bit hit and miss sometimes.

Thanks Brutal for the offer, we’re only there for two days so will cobble together something I’m sure.

Sorry probably the wrong phrase to use, I really have no idea about the Peak District to be honest.

Spoke to the shop, all their ripmo’s in stock have 38’s on them.

So basically I can send bike back for a refund or suck it up, they did apologise though but denied any conversation I had with them.

So will give it a few rides, if it feels like a boat anchor, I’ll get a 36 or a lyrik.

Fairlight Secan 2.5 will take 27.5×2.4 according to them.

Yep they do, Dyna but the point was I specifically phoned the shop to check the spec. If they had said 38’s, my reply would of been, please don’t cut the steerer and it would of been easier to punt on the forks.

I knew that Ibis was shipping out bikes with the 38’s, hence the phone call but the bikes spec on the site was 36’s.

I’ll let you all know what the shop says tomorrow and look forward to hearing from Ben too.

    Interesting replies!

So I should accept the heavier forks (about 350g) which are way beyond my pay grade in terms of Gnar capable.

The other side of the pond opinion is that the 38’s are a bit much for a bike which is a trail occ enduro rig.

If you’ve decided on the actual bike you want, then buy it now, life is definitely too short, so live for the now!

I’ve been mulling over a new bike for a while and a 10% off code came through on a email, so just scored 19% off for the bike, as it was reduced already.

This flat just popped up on my Facebook feed in the Keynsham bargains group

I had a quick look on Rightmove and there are 2 bed flats in Kingswood for less than a grand but have no idea if they are still available.

Could try joining some of the local Facebook communities :-0 and asking on there, good luck!

Sucked it up and bought an inreach mini, should be able to resell it after the trip or keep it.

Hanham high street has a nice vibe, local bike shop etc even Keynsham is only a 35min cycle from Barton hill. There are even some short trails in Hanham woods by the river.

I would look at the route of the railway cycle path eastwards from Barton hill and take your pick.

I’ve got a LUMIX G9, which is probably the cheapest’pro’ level M4/3 mirrorless camera out there.

I tend to wildlife photography, so the G9 is not the greatest at Birds in flight but that is probably one of the hardest subjects to master. I haven’t tried any mtb action photos yet (but must do) it has a 6K photo mode which is very good for action shots.

Being Micro 4/3 all lenses are double the focal length due to the sensor crop, so my 100-400 is 200-800 35mm equivalent and in a package that only weighs 1.6kg, it is great for hand held shots and soo much lighter than a full frame mirrorless equivalent.

Managed to get an normal Evoc bag for a good price the pro was £180 more!

Plus it weighs a kg more too due to the frame in it and when you’re with BA with a weight limit of 23kg, could make a difference of £130 in xs baggage weight charges.

Excellent kingfisher photos, we’re lucky in that near us is probably the tamest kingfisher in the Uk, will happily perch and fish about 10’ away, sometimes there are 20 people watching it!

Only got good perching shots, it’s hard work getting the fishing shots!

Should of figured that sea otter link out, very sorry for my pedantry.

Nice Otter, Mull is ace for wildlife, we are back there in July for a week.

If you want to see the white tailed eagles close up, go on a Mull charters boat trip, best wildlife experience in the U.K. in my opinion. https://youtu.be/VzFBtY9kbvU

And really don’t want to be a pedant but they are actually normal Otters, who have been habitual to feeding in the lochs and coastline, best place in the U.K. to see them is Mull, unfortunately we only managed fleeting glimpses when we were there last.

3l 300hp diesel, takes ages to warm up, so it’s quite inefficient on a short 12mile commute.

Good thread, this as currently have a large engined diesel, which is great for long drives but not so, for the 12mile commute.

Thinking PHEV is the way to go but boy are they expensive and you’re restricted to SUV’s for any decent battery range, ie Rav4, mazda etc.

    Thanks Slackboy, that looks interesting.

It’s a shame Honda stopped making the element, perfect mtb vehicle in my opinion https://www.insidehook.com/article/vehicles/honda-element-discounted-too-soon

A new one with a 300hp awd hybrid would be perfect!

For the Mendips, park at the Swan inn (good food too) in Rowberrow.

Have a look here for details of the trails https://www.ridemendips.org/rowberrow

It’s also worth riding up to the trig point and following the bridleway around back to Rowberrow woods, good fast descent.

The DH Y Mynnd trails at the top of Twrch are good too as one has been refurbed, don’t bother with the new bit off Twrch, if it’s been wet as it can get quite greasy and it’s more up than down.

I find the Cafall descent is more fun than the Twrch down as more berms, drops and rocks.

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately it’s difficult for me to find anything to my liking.

I’ve already asked for a skills day from my sister.

I much as I hate to admit it, I really don’t need a bike, I’ll hand my membership card in at the door!
