Buff to minimise sweat dripping works well. Be careful with glasses, they need to be safe if you crash.

On another tack, I can go out tomorrow, 11 days after first symptoms. The testing system worked fine for me, glad to say. I’m going for a very long bike ride.

Try loosening the caliper mounting bolts; does that cure it? If so, it’s an alignment problem

It’s the same with skiing; low speed pratfalls are the worst for causing injuries

Don’t worry about the weight, the frames are perhaps 2lb heavier than a good carbon or alloy equivalent but Cotic bikes just really really go! If you’ve got any doubts why not organise a test ride? Could you get up to Derbyshire?

Pit pony here; outdoor research gaiters are very generous. Velco closure up the front not zipped.

I don’t take the Guardian any more. I’d been a loyal reader since I was at school but it’s just too down on everything these days, without offering any alternatives.

I **** up at work sometimes. Our chief exec actually got a nasty letter about me from Theresa May, when she was Home Sec (actually from a minion obvs); I have had sleepless nights cringing and in cold sweats. It passes……. until the next self inflicted episode. I’ve learned to roll with the punches; no one else seems that bothered, and I suspect it’s the same for you; we hold ourselves to higher standards than others expect. You just need to be a bit kinder to yourself. You’re great, **** em, they’re not a patch on you.

Having children (in the West) has become a ‘luxury’ – as living standards rise the desire/ need to procreate seems to fall off and having more than one child becomes unusual. The third world will eventually follow suit.

For dystopian world-view enthusiasts this will only be seen as a good thing (then off they trot for another self-flagellation/ self-hating session). I’m not so sure, as a humanist I celebrate our success as a species and hope that we will continue to thrive and maybe even survive the next extinction event.

I use snuff. Appreciating that it’s probably doing horrible things to my tubes it works for me. I prefer it to steroids. Cherry or Orange Ozona is lovely

Another option is Sink the Stink, divers use it on smelly wetsuits and it actually works on climbing shoes too; gloves would be a pushover. Expensive though.

I used FlyBe a lot for work. They were good initially (6 or 7 years ago?) but have been utterly rubbish for the last couple of years – unreliable and very expensive.

    It’s a mercy killing

£11 usually, the barber asked last time if I qualified for the OAP rate of £7.50.

I’m 54, I was quite pissed off about it.

Why would the Thames barrier fail? As I understand it it has triple redundancy – two back up processes? It’s operational life is expected to end around 2070 now (originally 2023) isostatic rebound/ sea level rise hasn’t accelerated as feared when it was designed in the 60s.

Cavities designed are to prevent damp penetrating walls, to fill them with anything is a poor idea. Either use rock wool and render on the outside, or insulate and dry line the inside. Leave the cavity alone.

Don’t have a Cayman, but I run a Porsche as a daily commute/ 25k pa car. I’ve had one previously and in both cases they have been peerless motors. Don’t think too hard, if it feels right get it. Good luck

Thirty years ago, I ran into the back of a mini at a roundabout “if I’m quick, I can get out too” I thought. The nice old couple were on their way to the crem, for their son’s service.

    Desperate.

Give them a go, it’s normally a free trial

I use them & get on well with them. (I have mates who achieve the same thing by just wearing a ‘short sighted’ lense in one eye, and nothing in the other).

It’s amazing, but your brain seems to adapt/ cope.

    Getting old is a bastard

I’ve got a Shockwiz. I set up my own bikes & my two sons’ bikes. (Their bikes were way off, mine were mostly OK).

It’s useful when you get shocks serviced too – to return to original feel.

I also intended to rent it out but have just lent it to mates in the end.

When you say ‘in the soffits’ do you mean the underside of the eaves boxings are lined with cementacious asbestos board? (Or is it that there is some sort of asbestos insulation within the eaves?)

If it’s the former, personally I’d go for the cheaper quote (probably). If in doubt get a building surveyor to advise.

We measured up ourselves, and got Ikea to design it. Got the gear from Ikea and had a mountain biking mate who is a builder fit it, he organised the sparks & plumber.

We were really pleased with the units & worktops, the design was pretty original too. The Ikea appliances were a bit crap though & they have been back a few times under the 5yr guarantee they offer (they are good at honouring the guarantee).
