I stayed at the Campanile motel at Troyes just up the road, the place seemed to be full of benefit migrants drinking & smoking on the balconies (it’s deck access rooms), calling to each other into the early hours.

A really horrible and threatening night’s stay.

    Never again

The clutch failed on my old landrover, I then snapped the whole gearstick off after getting a bit aggressive with the clutchless gearchanges.

(Still got home though, very slowly, using the overdrive to adjust the gearing!)

Just renewed with M&S, the quote went up £90 for two bikes (worth £5.4k total).

I had the misfortune to have a break-in 18m ago, bikes nicked, car nicked, house really turned over. M&S (Axa. Cunningham Lindsey loss adjusters) behaved impeccably. Esure who insured the car were shaping up to be total bastards. (fortunately the car was recovered by the police, so I didn’t have to continue the argument too much, but even to get them to change the locks was a massive up-hill battle)

M&S every time for me, even if they were more expensive

I’ve got Hankook run-flat 245s, they have a similar wavy groove, from new.

Good tyres, they are lasting well on my big heavy car

There’s quite a bit of asbestos in the environment anyway, what you’ve been exposed to sounds insignificant.

    I’ve had a similar problem

it was a power steering problem in the end; a garage job in any event

Big (16″ + sq) porcelain tiles are difficult to lay over an existing floor, unless the floor is bone flat.

In a kitchen, don’t use white grout.

Stone needs sealing/ re-sealing/ looking after

I was like you, I got together with mates and we hired Alison Culshaw (top off-piste coach in Chamonix). http://www.offpiste.org.uk/ all off us improved massively and got a huge confidence boost.

If you can’t get a group together, she also runs courses.

email me if you want to know more

No specific knowledge of working with young people etc, all I would say though is plan it properly; I’ve a mate who didn’t, who is now a 50yr old with no pension, no proper qualififcations and goes from crap job to crap job.

I think you’re exactly right to think of what qualififcations may be needed first.

    good luck

I really hate to say this, and I sincerely hope I’m wrong, but has she met someone else?

Best wishes for a reasonable resolution.

It happened to me when I was peeing into a communal urinal at school, caused quite a stir I can tell you. Everyone wanted to come along when i next need to go, talk about stage fright.

The mail roder website is a bit crap IMO. The stuff seems to arrive Ok once ordered though. I’ve found the type of things I tend to order are just as cheap at Merlin etc, so given the rubbish website I don’t bother with JE J.

The shop at Rotherham has some really good bargains though, especially posh roadie gear. If i’m in the area I always call in and find myself parted from some loot

I’d put one of them on the front

The first page needs a lot of polishing, I’m sure you’re aware. As other have said, try not to loose the simplicity though – it’s very appealing.

Good luck – you obviously have talent. I hope it’s a sucess

I bought some bits and pieces for Chrismas presents at Dublin before xmas. I was fortunate because a women ahead of me in the queue said she would take the bag on for me.

The Ryan air fun police were fuming.

Crossing a pine tree over a river my mate had the misfortune to slip and impale himself on the sharp stub of a branch – it got him right in the biffen bridge.

His sack swelled up to gynormous proportions – he tried to impress the girls by parading his purple plums at a party after the event. His nuts looked like a pair of baby cuckoos that had been beaten black and blue. The girls were not impressed.

There are close to a million assault rifles and had guns ‘in-ciculation’ in Switzerland. By law all military reservists have to keep their rifle at home. The swiss government actually subsidises the cost of ammunition to encourage reservists to practice.

The number of people shot dead/ gun crime in Switzerland last year? 45, out of a population of 8 million.

In the US, around 8,500. Out of a population of 300 million.

That’s tough news. the company didn’t bring it in this time, there will have been others times you have collectively suceeded. and you will suceed again in the future.

    How deliver bad news:

1.Explain everything you all did leading up to the change of mind, & how positive it looked

    2. tell the boss about the change of mind

    3. Explain what you’re going to do next to learn from the knock-back & what you’re going to do to bring in alternative turnover

don’t pause between 1 and 3. If your boss starts to get heavy go back to step 1 and repeat. This sounds a bit corny but i know it works from experience

& don’t apologise – you don’t have anything to apologise for. You can express regret, but not apologise.

good luck (& sorry if I’m teaching you to suck eggs with this)

I’ve often wondered why designers use steel at the ridge, if you thini about it it could be a thin pice of board really (The two sides/ pitches of a properly designed roof should balance out hence no steel required)

I always use http://www.ski-direct.co.uk/ they seem to be able to crystal ski/ neals etc holidays cheaper than I can book myself off the net. I tend to talk to a woman called Claire Mundy, if you give her a call and put the enquirey to her, she’ll offer several options.

    Good luck

Leaving a job because you dislike it is fair enough, moving to a new job/ company because you can’t think of anything better to do & hate your old job is not a good basis to start a new career I’d say

Have a look on the SPAB website; loads of good info.

Rising damp is a myth, your solution is likely to be: Background heating + ventilation + maybe replastering with a non-gypsum plaster such as ‘Renovating plaster’ (Specifically desgined for older buildings, can cope with damp conditions without disintegrating)
