PX have said that the 26 (and presumably the 29 as its described the same) are 12mm X 135. So the nukeproof should be good!

Will likely be ordering next week now.

I’ve emailed PX to clarify if the 26″ is 12 X 135. The 27.5 version states 12 X 142 but the other two options don’t specify so hoping this means they’re 12 X 135 in which case it looks like the nukeproof is a goer. I’ll post up PX’s reply when I hear back

I’ve ordered the front as that’s what I actually needed (and it was in the correct spec so no doubts over compatibility). The rear just seemed like a bargain so I was thinking that if the front were good then I might try the rear for £40 plus an adaptor.

I guess I was going to try the superstar kit as it looked like it had adaptors for both 12mm and 142x12mm so guessed one might work? I’ve literally no clue though.

Maybe I’ll order the wheel and then get some more details on the hub before trying to sort an adaptor if those Amazon ones are the way to go?

I’ve ordered the front wheel as that was 15mm which is what I have. If it’s good I’m probably going to order the back and that superstar kit and give it a go. Will probably be next week. I’ll post up the results.

Almost tempted to get one and that nukeproof converter to give it a go as its only just over £50 all in. I could always return if doesn’t work.

Can anyone compare Beavertown Gamma Ray to their Neck Oil? Had a pint of Neck Oil in the local Micro Brewery Pub recently and it was the best I think I’ve had from there so interested in Gamma Ray as not come across that.

I’ve been using my saris bones 3 on my 08 plate Mondeo. Been to south of France and back and various smaller trips without issue. I had no idea there was a suggestion it wouldn’t take the load but it’s been fine despite my ignorance.

I put the two top straps on the boot where it hinges (straps need to be quite long and need to be positioned to avoid the rear wiper), two on the sides of the boot and then the bottom two, I attach together (in a sort of ‘V’) to a metal loop in the centre under the bumper. I can’t picture if this is part of a tow bar that’s under there or not though? Once it’s all pulled tight, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to go anywhere.

I guess the issue is the plastic bumper? I wouldn’t attach the bottom straps just to that. This metal bit underneath though seems a solid enough anchor point. It’s seems fine but maybe I’ve just been lucky?

Ordered another 2 and set up a group. Casting to the group works fine using tune in radio app but it won’t cast to the group from Spotify. Any else had this? It connects fine to individual devices but when I try and select the group it just hangs ‘connecting’ forever. I uninstalled the Spotify app and reinstalled it and it worked once but then when I stopped casting and tried to start again it wouldn’t connect. Any thoughts?

Another long term contact lens wearer. I still vividly remember the first time trying them. They put them in for me and said to go and walk around the high street outside for a few minutes to see how they felt. I expected to feel them, that they’d be gritty and irritating but I was amazed….couldn’t feel a thing and I could see perfectly. I’ve never looked back and count the move to contacts as one of the best decisions I’ve made. Literally life changing as someone else said. I ride, play football, golf and all would be so much more difficult with glasses. I’ve never had any problems either. Perhaps I’m lucky as I don’t get dry eyes with them. Had my check at vision express yesterday and all healthy. Give them a try without doubt.

Watching ‘The Americans’ at the moment. Very good.

We live in a hard water area and had this. Also had the old ballcock type mechanism. Just replaced the lot with a fluidmaster from b&q for about £14 I think. Just watched a few you tube vids and was, to my surprise, very easy to replace. Refills like a dream now.

Not ridden the Escarpe but I’ve got the Vitus blitz, it’s shorter 120mm travel cousin, which I’ve been riding for the last 3 years and been really happy with. I’ve had no issues and only had to replace consumables. Its been great to ride and so I’d expect good things and would be inclined to believe the positive reviews for the Escarpe.

I’m using valves cut out of an old tube!

I’ve just ripped out the tape and re-did it, this time with two wraps rather than one as I did last time. I’ve checked it as best I can and it looked good. Made a tiny hole in the tape and pushed the valve through to try to keep the seal good at the valve. Still leaking so I think it’s maybe the ghetto valve. I’ll pick up some proper ones and try that.

    Ok cheers.

I’ll recheck the taping tomorrow and see how I get on.

A crack is probably overstating it. It’s almost impossible to see its that small. It’s a tiny hairline imperfection in the raised hole that the valve comes through. It’s just enough to lose the seal with the lock nut.

Cheers for that. Will check those places to stay in Brandon and that pub sounds excellent too so will maybe look at that for lunch on the Monday.

Positive that it drains well too. We both ride short travel full sus bikes anyway as our local riding is woodland xc so should be well suited.

Ok cheers. I did wonder if that would be it and a new cassette might be in order. Just wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything else obvious i’d missed before forking out.

    @ Josemctavish

It was a Takey for us too. South Liverpool (Garston) in the 80s.

    Kent?

Decent woodland XC and good road riding. Water on three sides so good for beach / watersports. Lots of nice countryside. Much cheaper than Surrey, especially places like Ashford. Good motorway links towards London (M2 and M20) and links to the continent.

Also a reasonably high concentration of hospitals: East Kent, Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells, Medway, Darrent Valley Hospitals.

+1 for Camper Wabi. Comfy and like the rubber sole for brief excursions to take the bins out etc.

Cheers for the input. No real consensus then but some useful comments. Might just see what deals are about and give one a go.

Thanks. I’m in Kent and my riding is generally trails in the local woods which are clay based and so get pretty boggy and it’s pretty rooty too. I do also ride a fair bit at Bedgebury but that’s much the same in terms of mud at this time of year.
