Cheers, will have a look at those recommendations. Not too keen on veggie only. Normally go for meat and fish/seafood combo.

Used to love concorde2. Was really into breakbeat at uni and was a regular at The big beat boutique nights.

Is Casablanca’s still going? That was always a laugh.

Not a GP but a pharmacist. Don’t know much about that indication but I’ve never seen a 5 day on/off regime of antibiotics. Sounds like a recipe for inducing resistance.

No idea to be honest. I’ve only been on a friends Aqua Marine which is a similar budget option. Not compared to a ‘Red’ or other higher end board.

It floats and I can ride on it pretty easily with minimal skill, which is all I was really after. It’s 15cm deep which is deeper than most budget options I looked at and it does sit nice and high in the water and is pretty stable. It’s easy to inflate, nice backpack to carry it in, seems well put together. For what we want to do I can’t see something 3 times the cost being worth the extra but YMMV depending on your ambitions.

We got an inflatable ITWIT from decathlon a few months ago (the blue one). We wanted to take advantage of living by the coast and getting on the water it’s a relatively cheap and accessible way to do that. It’s been great fun. We’ve taken it out on the sea and also on the river. All gentle stuff but a good core workout as mentioned and just a nice way to spend time. We’ve had the kids on the front too and they love it.

My local seat Canterbury has just gone to Labour for the first time ever! :)

Seriously never thought I’d see the day where my vote wasn’t wasted in a such safe Tory seat. Brazier is an odious tit and after sitting pretty for 30 years with an abhorrent voting record, he’s finally gone. Well done everyone!

So I’m guessing you’re not in your 30s and don’t live in the south east :-)

No plans to move and we’re in relatively stable jobs. Kids aged 6 & 4.

5 year fix is about £80 per month more, 10 year just under £200 per month more.

Exit fees on 10 year 7% for the 1st 4 years then drops by 1% each year.

Exit fees on 5 year, 5% in first year then drops by 1% each year.

Crete would get my vote. Depends what you’re looking for but we stayed here a couple of years ago (in early May, before our eldest started in school) and loved it. Would go back in a heartbeat. Weather is still good in October, Crete’s a bit further south.

I did my first tri last year and have another one coming up next month. Swimming is definitely my weakest discipline. A friend recommended a coach who does an open group session once a month at a local pool. Basically we did a warm up, then he filmed each of us in the group with a Go pro on a selfie stick type thing doing a few lengths. He got footage from a variety of angles and then afterwards we went through the videos and got feedback on improvements to make. It was fascinating, not only seeing my footage but also that of the others. I learned a lot and came away with some specifics to focus on rather than just doing lengths. I’d recommend something similar if you can find anything local to you.

If you weren’t restricted to wheelies you’d get much better, but off there, the Giant Talon and Liv is what I’d go for at that price bracket.

Been off Zwift for a bit had a go tonight, however it was all a bit weird!

I took the crank magnet off my speed/cadence sensor recently when cleaning the bike and somehow lost the magnet from inside the rubber holder thing. So I only have the spoke magnet. Tried it on Zwift and it seemed to read speed ok from that without the crank magnet. However, in the race the power output was jumping about all over the place and didn’t seem to map to what I was doing. But weirdly, on the mobile link app, the watts seemed right and did seem to map to what I was doing but didn’t match what was on the ride screen. Not sure if it was a glitch with Zwift or if not having the crank magnet was the reason? Ended up bimbling round for a few laps. Will look at getting a replacement magnet. I guess any will do?

IT bloke just been around. They’ve just had a patch through from NHS England which is being applied to my machine now. Seems like they’re on top of it.

I work 1 evening a fortnight at NHS 111. Tonight is that night and it’s mental here! A lot of services are falling back to us and it’s just nuts busy. Never seen anything like it. Drafted in as many extra staff as could be found and it’s buzzing but it’s still mental.

I started a similar thread a few weeks ago and got some good advice. We ended up getting this one from Decathlon.

    https://www.decathlon.co.uk/inflatable-107-sup-2017-blue-id_8387659.html

Used it once so far and seems good. It’s deeper in volume (6″) than other boards I looked at in this price range. Our friends have an AquaMarine and the Decathlon is noticeably deeper and more buoyant. Comes in a nice backpack too which meant getting it down to the beach was easy too.

Have a look at the decathlon chainless chain whip. Brilliant tool, much better than a normal chain whip.

Also, if not too much over budget, a torque wrench is handy.

I hate clutter and would happily bin anything I can’t ever see a use for but my wife not so much.

One positive though – she inherited some gold jewlery from her nan which was sentimental but in a style she’d never wear. She was always unsure what to do with it so took it a local jewellers who valued it and then worked with her to design a silver bracelet and ring but to also incorporate the melted down gold from her nans stuff into a new design. She’s happy as she hasn’t just sold it but can actually get some use out of it and can hopefully be passed on to our girls (who may or may not like the style!).

At Uni I knew a lad that would put a lit cigarette in his ear hole, go up to a girl and in mock anger say ‘did you throw that?!’

They did usually crack up and it was a surprisingly effective icebreaker.

In recommend what you have shocker, I would add the Orbea Occam AM to the list.

I had a similar list to you and demoed some of them and this is what I ended up with. Fantastic bike.

    Well done Binners.

I’m well and truly stuck. Been just over 13st for about 6 weeks now. The bonus is my fitness is much improved. I’ve got a 100 mile charity ride this Sunday and a tough muddier next weekend so hoping I can make a dent in it then and kick start a return to some losses.

I’ve got a KitSound Hive for exactly this. Can be used with Bluetooth or 3.5mm. I’ve got a Chromecast Audio connected and generally cast Spotify through it. Works well and good sound quality for the size.

We’re in whitstable so will be flat water paddling. We’re not far from the beach but I think inflatable would be easier from both a transport and storage point of view.

Happy to look at second hand but will check out decathlon too.

CRC Own brand Prime Competition wheelset. 1580g and come tubeless ready. Impressed with them.

Looks like out of stock though. Might be worth a look if they come back in soon.

Mine arrived today and just fitted it. All good except for the ballache extrordinare that was routing it internally through the frame. Looks great now it’s done and working well after a bleed. Fingers crossed it’s a good one! Thanks again OP.

Thought one of the best things about the highline was supposed to be the remote with the ball joint to enable it to swivel to find a good position?

I went on a stag do during which we did a segway tour. It was a good way to see the city. Just don’t hit a speed bump at pace. Segways don’t like leaving the ground as one of our group found out. He’s got cool scars now. The tour was good though!

Asked a similar question recently and was directed towards CRC’s Prime wheelsets. Picked up the competition version for approx £165 after discounts. 1580g the pair and come tubeless ready with the rim strip in place and tubeless valves included. Paired with some Schwalbe Pro One tubeless ready tyres and went up with a track pump. Had several rides on them now and really impressed. Bike feels noticeably lighter and smoother. Stayed true so far. Would recommend.

I’ve got an entry level Huub wetsuit for triathlons and have done some sea swimming in it. Would recommend. It was a Wiggle exclusive one and picked up for about £100 in a sale but I think RRP was a bit more.

Huub also sell ex-demo/ex-display on their site and if you get lucky with sizing you can get some bargains. They grade them from as new to repaired etc but IMO are very conservative. Got my wife a really good suit that was supposed to be a grade C and when it arrived it had a tiny finger mark that had been glued that you could easily have done trying it on first time. Otherwise it was mint and was over 50% off.

I’m back reasonably often as family all still there. Have a chippy every time! It’s a ritual.
