This may work if it’s PF92

Driveline Threaded-Press Fit Bottom Bracket for BB86/BB92 Frame to Shimano 24mm Crank for MTB/Road Bike https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0831N1TST/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Q3.jFbV2DSJPV

Recently got one and have been impressed.

I’m a 34 waist and ordered a large going off the size guide and they’re spot on. Perhaps just a slight tightening up needed with the side velcro tabs but not much.

I think they’re good. Long as mentioned, but no bad thing for winter.

Bought one of these a while ago to replace my shimano PF92 BB, which to be fair had lasted pretty well.

I paid £25 which was the same as the cheapest shimano I could find so it’s gone up a bit, but still good value. I think it’s a re-badged token ninja.

Really impressed. Just needs two normal threaded BB tools to fit (I had one and borrowed one from a mate). Offer each side up and then start to thread the two halves by hand until starts to get tight then hold one end still with one BB tool, and tighten with the other which pulls the BB home nice and evenly. Rock solid and creak free since.

Agree with the FOD suggestion. Loads to do for a family around there. Had some great times with our kids at Simmonds yat, puzzlewood etc. Love Afan but couldn’t see what there would be to do for non-biking family members

Cheers for the tip. Will try that as hoping to do a night with our girls this Saturday.

Recently got this for my wife. Really impressed for the money.

Already had their frame bag after a recommendation from scotroutes that it would fit my Orbea Occam. Really good kit.

There’s good road biking around Morzine and plenty of non biking activities too.

You’ve got Col de Joux Plane, Avoriaz, Col de Joux vert, Col de L’Encranez, Col de la Ramaz, Col de Corbier, Col de Forclaz / Trechauffe. Loads to go at.

I’d booked the Airbnb in Feb before Covid. The tunnel booking can be moved by a year. I have pre-Covid annual insurance policy. It’s a calculated risk

Booked the eurotunnel last night for our trip to Morzine in August. Website had been a nightmare through the day, really slow and kept getting looped back to the start of the booking process on the few times I tried. Thought it was just playing up.

Tried again late last night and got on to realise it must’ve been demand slowing things up as the crossing slots I wanted were sold out on the way out and very expensive on the way back! Had to tweak things so now going at 3:30am (Luckily we’re only 40 mins from the terminal!) and extending the holiday a few days and coming back midweek. Now only £20 more than we paid last year.

The early out / late back weekend slots are going to cost a lot if you can get one.

Thanks all for the replies. Really helpful.

My wife wasn’t able to get in touch today about the job so not much progress.

I can see lots of things I think would be positives and would suit us. We’ve liked lots about lockdown and being in a quiet place appeals in many ways. The sporty outdoors lifestyle is of course a big plus too.

I guess the concerns are that isolation and also the cost of living / housing. Good news that the local housing market would be open to us but sounds like it may still be expensive which may price us out. We’re in Kent now so quite an expensive part of the UK, but still have a chunk of mortgage – probably have around 40% equity. One of our aims was to move to a cheaper place and get our mortgage and outgoings down so we could perhaps work less or in less stressful roles. Not sure it sounds like this is going to be possible here. Will have to see the specifics of what the job comes with.

Thanks again. Lots of food for thought.

I’d say Large. I’m 175cm on a large, albeit 2016 model, and I’ve been a medium on every other bike I’ve had. The geometry has changed a bit since but I definitely wouldn’t want the cockpit any shorter and allows you to run a shorter stem.

My wife and I both work clinically in hospital and had positive antibody tests last week despite neither of us having had any symptoms consistent with COVID and having had no time off.

My wife and I both work clinically in hospital and have just had our antibody tests. Both positive. We’ve both been almost completely asymptomatic and haven’t had any time off.

My wife re-calls one run she went on (March 23rd after checking Strava) where she really struggled, did a slow mile or so before turning back and that’s all she can think of. I really can’t think of anything significant. Had a bit of hayfever type symptoms which I get anyway, but no cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, fatigue.

Pretty crazy. Our kids almost certainly Have had it too then. It feels really odd. On one hand very reassuring, but also feel a bit guilty if we’ve passed it on. Social distancing at work has been impossible at times. Hopefully socially been ok. I don’t know of anyone we know who has been ill. I’ve let a few people know who I’ve seen just in case.

    Very surreal day.

OP, are you definitely putting the Allen key in the correct side of the grub screw? The reason I mention this is I was trying to nip mine up the other day and put an Allen key in what I thought was the correct side and it almost started to round off, before I realised it was a smaller (2.5mm I think) Allen key in the opposite side!

Just a thought in case you’re doing the same.

I picked up a big dog frame for £150 in the pre order and then spent a few months gradually buying parts when there were good deals.

With the exception of a stem and BB I already and a second hand brand x dropper bought from here for £60 (but came with new lever and cable), everything else was new.

The full build details below but managed to do it for £1100 all in which was lower than the GX spec full build price when it came out and to me, a much better package.

First bike build – Big Dog

The key is taking enough time to pick up the bits cheap when the deals are on. Almost impossible I’d say to do it this cheap in a hurry.

Yep, Mrs blitz has a small gilet and it sits snug over the hips. She reckons all of it is the best fitting stuff she’s had. Guess it’s cut that way for the fairer sex as you say.

Bit gutted here to be honest. Missed this thread until most of the men’s stuff had sold out. Managed to pick up the shell and the wife got a load of stuff. Arrived today and it looks absolute quality.

I’d be all over the bike kit if any was left, particularly the flint shorts and light gilet. Wife is grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

Just recently did the bearings on my Occam for the first time. I ended up getting the puller kit from here:

Bearing Puller Kit for Orbea Bikes

Bit of outlay but did the job well apart from one bearing which was so goosed it fell apart leaving only the outer race. Tried loads of ways of getting it out and eventually managed it by bench grinding the wings off a spare star nut to take a bit off them and then tapped it in with a hammer until it caught the lip and then drifted it out. The joy when it finally came out!

I also struggled to get the pivot bolt out. There was a small hex bolt, then a collet but it looked a bit different to that picture. The collet I managed to get out by putting a small socket that was a fairly snug fit into the hole and tapped it side to side and eventually it popped out. Took a while though.

Well we’re still hanging on hopeful of getting to Morzine in late August as planned. Currently only paid £700 ish of the air bnb costs with the balance due in July. Will see where we are then but increasingly hopeful.

I think the UK quarantine is likely to have been relaxed or scrapped before then and as we’re both registered HCPs we seem to be exempt anyway? Not sure where the kids stand though?

We’d be driving down using the tunnel so wouldn’t leave our car except for service stops and then going into a private chalet. If the the foreign office remove the guidance not to travel (Negating any insurance I would guess?) I can’t see the issue.

I’ve got the sleeping mat and think it’s superb. In fact recently ordered more for the kids.

I’ve also got the OEX Fathom sleeping bag but the 200 version and also really like it. Prefer it to a Vango Ultralight Pro we have which my wife uses. Broader at the shoulders so find it more comfortable. Packs pretty small too.

So in order to back Cummings, Shapps, on behalf of the government, has basically just undermined the credibility of the lockdown message for the entire nation. A level of interpretation is now implied and you can’t see how people will abide by the rules to the same extent now.

The government is now essentially risking lives to save Cummings ass. Just disgraceful.

As we’re key workers, ours have been going anyway….

I guess working in and around hospitals during all this, we’ve probably normalised living around COVID to some extent now and so are perhaps also further down the line in our feelings and approach to it but can see the argument that there’s not a lot to be gained from rushing a re-start through.

The galling thing I find about public sector pay is that there’s NEVER an appropriate time to increase it. I distinctly recall during the early 2000s boom years calls for public sector pay to be restrained because of concerns of the inflationary effect it would have on the economy!

We can’t pay a decent wage in the best of times, we can’t pay one in the bad times and now we can’t pay one in the worst of times, even when the contribution is at its most visible and obvious to all…

Last summer won the top prize at daughters swimming club raffle. A nights B&B in a local posh hotel which was nice.

Several years ago though my mate won a ‘family’ trip to Alton Towers. 2 days in the park with fast track passes, dinner, b&b at the splash landings hotel with access included to the pools. However he didn’t have a wife and kids, so took three mates! Two of us had to sleep in kids bunk beds but it was a real laugh. We all had the most expensive steak option on the dinner menu etc. It slightly took the piss to be fair but the T&Cs didn’t exclude it!

Runnng 29s. 2.3 DHF and Agressor. Seems good so far. First time using the Agressor. Usually run DHR2 or Ardents on the rear. Feels as quick as an Ardent but better cornering and braking grip. I like it.

With regards to the rear axle, I carry a Topeak Hexus anyway which luckily has an 8mm Hex on it.

Started a thread the other day about building a Big Dog up…

First bike build – Big Dog

But then remembered this one so bringing it in here.

First ride proper ride today. Wet after some thundery heavy showers yesterday afternoon. Really impressed with the bike. Feels really balanced, still feel it rides lighter than its heft suggests. Most impressive thing was it’s handling. It just leans over so nicely into corners. Ideal for the twisty woodland singletrack which is my local riding. It’s a lot of fun.

One practical thing if it helps anyone, I accidentally bought a non-boost 32t slx crankset from Merlin as it was cheap and forgot about it being boost. It fits, works perfectly and gives a lovely chainline on my 1 x 11 setup.
