7Mesh Sight long sleeve is the best top I have for these conditions. Bought in the sportpursuit sale a while ago.

Running Vittoria Aggaro front and Mezcal rear on my hardtail. Definitely a rounder profile and fast running with the Aggaro giving a bit more bite on the front.

First trip to Glassie Bike Park. Enjoyed it but the climbs were tough. Steep with a mix of tech and swoopy berms. New trail CamanEm probably the highlight.

I’m in. Did ok in the earlier one this year and then had a mad busy summer at work. Not quite back to where I started but not far off so would be good to get back on it.

Le Touquet is very nice and close to Calais. Nice sandy beach and town with good bars / restaurants. Worth a trip on its own or as a stop on the way south.

Bought one cheap a while ago. I thought it was ok but my wife hated it and we took it back after a few nights. I think good quality pocket sprung is better.

Exploratory ride on a local hill that has piqued my interest for a while. Nothing really showing on Strava so wasn’t expecting much but found some excellent trails amongst the dead ends.

I live on the edge of Pitmedden. Depending on timing around work/dad taxi duties I could possibly give you a tour round?

Can’t recall the exact figure but just shy of 50mph coming down from Avoriaz. I suspect on the straight open bit under the chairlift. The reward of dragging 90kgs up the Joux Verte.

Huge fan of Comrie. Agree the cafe is great so no need to go elsewhere.

I think it’s probably the most ‘bang for buck’ place I’ve ever ridden. Practically no filler sections.  You do say 10 miles there and it feels like double that because it’s just constant engaging excellent riding.

Good cartridges for the decks maybe? My cousins both DJ fairly seriously and I’m in a whatsapp group chat with them. They’ve dropped some cash fairly recently on Taruya cartridges from Japan and have been raving about them. There will be cheaper options too that might still be a decent upgrade eg. Ortofon or Shure.

The lesser known chnv – Council housed not violent. You can’t really tell them apart until they politely move out of the way of cyclists or suchlike.

8kg lost since Xmas and 6kg off since the start of this. That’s despite not losing much at all in the last 4 weeks. So overall really pleased.

I think by far the biggest factor to be honest has been massively reducing my alcohol intake. Had got into the habit of drinking wine at home far too regularly really. Did dry Jan and the weight started coming off steadily. Started drinking again in Feb and found my weight loss plateaued and didn’t really enjoy it as much as before. So basically since then I’ve largely abstained other than a couple of occasions when I’ve been out, which is probably much more how I need to be I think.

My diet has improved too, but not as much as it could’ve. Cutting out the booze has been far easier than treats, but I have tried. Just not done as well with that. Things are going in the right direction though and I’m pretty sure I’m the fittest I’ve ever been at this stage of the year so a nice platform to build on. My Strava fitness score is the same now as it was at the end of last summer.

3 weeks of stagnation is a bit disappointing but my fitness is continuing to improve. I’ve had a few big rides and felt really good. Also ran a 5 mile loop in 8:50/mile pace that I was running at 10:00/mile at the start of this. I think I have taken my foot off the gas a bit with my diet. Need to be more strict with myself. I’m not going to make target which was a 10kg loss, but I’m still happy with progress.

Sorry to hear what you’re going through. It may seem overwhelming but as others have said, with some support you can turn things around. Just do the next right thing. One step at a time. Your kids are fortunate to have a parent that clearly loves and cares for them. Don’t overlook that. The other things can be worked through.

I’ve fixed 3 issues with our machine and all were cheap enough and easy enough to fix.

Stopped spinning – belt had perished. New one off eBay cost maybe £15 and easy to fit.

Leaking from the door – New door seal needed. About £20 to replace but maybe a bit trickier to fit but just needed a bit of patience.

Lost heat (washer dryer) – New element. £15 and easy to replace.

I guess if they’d all happened at once I might’ve considered just replacing the machine, but when it’s £20 and an hour of you time here and there repairing has seemed the way to go. They’re not difficult to work on really. I just followed you tube videos.

I just had my renewal and it was the same as last year. However thought I’d do the comparison sites to check the competition and the cheapest ones were all at least £100 more, so stuck with existing provider.

2lb off. Back into the 80’s kgs which is a nice milestone. Next step is to lose another couple of pounds and be in the 13s in stones.

I’m in the car in Fife about to pick my daughter up from scouts. It’s cloudy though. Seriously tempted to go for a drive a bit north and west in the hope we can see it. The school is on strike tomorrow anyway.

We’re with shell for leccy but not heard anything yet on the rebate.

Just ordered 800L at 76p/L. That should see us through to next winter now as barely use anything over summer

Maintained this week. Good exercise week including 43 mile and 20 mile hilly gravel rides, a few Zwift sessions and a run. However an average week food wise. Had a couple of takeaways including last night after daughter had a good parents evening and she got to choose what we had for dinner. That’s going to happen though and trying to make this more of a lifestyle change so just need to moderate and hopefully keep the overall trend moving down.

I’m running Ramblers on my gravel bike. 700 x 45c Exo’s. I like them. Definitely prefer them to the Gravelking SK’s that came with the bike.

Much better off-road grip than the gravelking’s but seem to roll just as well on the road. I did a 43 mile road ride on the bike last weekend with the club and was pleased that it wasn’t too difficult to keep up with others on road bikes. One guy I was riding with commented on it, saying how little road buzz I was getting compared to how the tread and tyre size appeared. Seems a pretty good all rounder.

I am seeing the Chub Club as becoming more of a habit forming/breaking tool as now i’m thinking twice before choosing to get a snack of an evening and not having a bread roll with soup for lunch, and do i really need that evening beer?

    +1.

Another 3lb down this week. Feeling good. Only 600g shy of 5 week target and that’s with it being a pretty ambitious aim of 10kg loss overall so really happy with that.

Basically just maintained this week after 2 solid weeks. I had expected to have lost something as had a decent week food wise, still on dry Jan and had a very good week exercise wise.

The positive is that I went for a ride yesterday and clothes felt looser and I felt really good on the bike. So going in the right direction. Hopefully see some weight come off this coming week.

29×2.6 is an awesome fast dry conditions tyre. Awful in mud but it’s not designed for it.

2lb down this week, 5lb overall. I was another 1lb lower yesterday but that was after exercise and I suspected more dehydration so not surprised to see it up a bit today, but still happy with the progress. Going pretty well considering last weekend wasn’t great due to a 12 hour round trip to a family do which involved service station food and christening buffet, which I was only able to partially moderate myself with!
