Well somehow we managed to get the win, didn’t deserve to if I’m honest.
Good result for Edin as well, didn’t see that one coming. If only all crowds were as silent for the kickers as Munster

Well done Sexton shutting up the booing French crowd

Standing up for the Ulstermen here. Very tough group and can’t see us progressing to be honest, I’ll happily eat my words though!

The greatest road racer of all time…

Joey Dunlop. Totally dominated the IOM TT from 1977 – 2000, 26 TT wins inc a win in 2000 aged 48. I had the honour of meeting him at a small local race and was the most humble and modest superstar. A true legend

A very big well done to Wales from this very dissappointed Irish fan. Wales were better in almost every aspect of the game and deserve their victory.

I was very disappointed with Ireland, I got the impression that some of the players felt like they just had to turn up. Our error count cost us badly, but not to take it away from Wales they were awesome particularly in defense.

I hope Wales go on to do well in the rest of the RWC, they will have plenty of support from Ireland thats for sure.

Yeah but Gibbs will get over the gain line and free up space for the outside backs

    BlindMelon

Yeah if it were based purely on RWC performance then there probably would be a few different selections, but sure a wee bit of sentimentality does no harm.

I think you really must have Lomu in any selection, his impact was huge in every sense.

Jonny instead of Dan? yes, I think that Joost, Jonny and Scotty Gibbs would be great in defence and then BOD, Campo and Blanco could be creative outside them

gethin has pretty much been injured all this season and was most of last season, so your comment is pretty fatuous and saying that Healy will take care of him is pretty daft as both are looseheads. gethin will also struggle to make the starting 15 anyway.

AA I was only stating the fact that he is not in the form he was in 2009 on Lions tour etc. I know that Healy is a loosehead and I didn’t say he would take care of Gethin! I’ve played long enough in the front row to understand this :D

Is Gethin the player he was in 2009 – don’t think so.

Would you rather have OB or Warb in the team? I know who I would pick every time.

Roberts is a great player, but I reckon we can match them. Its gonna be a cracker – i can’t wait!

I really hope that the winner goes on a good run and gets to the final, I just really hope its Ireland!

if I start displaying confidence, a few of the protagonists will destroy me if Ireland go out

Sure we might as well enjoy this world cup, its not like we have been able too in the past!

DD confidence is a good thing my post to you before the Italy match…

While that would be funny, Ireland won’t slip up against Italy they will win well in order to stay in the easier side of the draw

Captain, Gethin is a decent player but he is definately not the player he was a few seasons ago. No need to get personal as to my optical ability. I’m not even going to rise to the France jibe.

    Captain,

Yes, Gethin is a spent force. Healy was more than able for Castro

OB is European player of the year and while Warburton is good, he isn’t that good.

Roberts again a very good player however Darcy was excellent yesterday and is more than a match for him. Plus the chap in the green 13 shirt isn’t too shabby.

ROG will be alright the best backrow in the NH will look after him. i reckon that Rory Best is out so I’ll give you one up for the hooker berth.

As for Tommy, he will want to come home after the world cup to play in the same team as some of his fellow winners!

Seriously though we need to take one game at the time but I really believe that Ireland are capable of something very special. And are more than good enough to beat Wales.

Some interesting articles in the Belfast Telegraph this morning. The Irish confidence is certainly high. I believe that Ireland will beat Wales as they have beaten better sides recently. Ireland beat the Tri Nations champions and a stubborn Italy side by a good margin. Wales on the other hand lost to the bottom placed tri nations side and beat some 3rd tier teams to get through. Man for man Ireland are the better team and I believe the power up front and the experiece behind the scrum will see Ireland home by 5-7 points.

In the other games if France decide to turn up they will win. I think that Oz will beat SA and NZ will beat Arg by a distance.

Going forward, Ireland will beat France and Oz will beat NZ for Ireland to win in the final! woo hoo

Scotlands decision making was terrible, particularly Parks. 5 mins to go, in the England 22 with good posession and he sends a crap garryowen that England go up the field from and score the winner. Unlucky Scotland but they brought it on themselves. Well done to England for sticking at it and to Flood when he came on.

Ah well, Hopefully Ireland will do the business tomorrow and I’ll be happy.

5ft 7 here but with short legs! and have no probs with standover. I normally run my revs at 120mm and only out to 140 for a lengthy descent.

Great frames and lovely to ride. Pic before starting the West Highland Way…
