Check out the Montane North Star

    http://www.fieldandtrek.com/montane-north-star-jacket-mens-443254?colcode=44325418

If you have a Go Outdoors nearby and they have stock in your size then you could get another 10% off would make it £121.50.

However if you need a waterproof insulating jacket then I would look at a synthetic fill like primaloft or something. Something like a Mountain Eq Fitzroy

If you are only selling then £500 is about right. Costs would be more for a purchase as there is more risk for the sol, plus various searches that are required in a purchase.

It’s bizarre really, for a country that spends so much of its time on the piss, you’d think they’d have a better selection of beers

DD and John Drummer check out the selection from Hilden Brewery when in Ireland. Some lovely selections

No I agree that if you are just picking a ‘prop’ without specifying LH or TH then Cole is better than Healy. However the Tele poll I linked two separated the side of the scrum. Therefore the choice was between Adam Jones and Cole and that is no contest.

Unsure of Cole but pick Healy? please

Different sides of the scrum my friend

I can’t quite make up my mind on Cole. Last season in the Heine the Ulster pack took Ayerza,Castro then Cole apart, then in the 6N Cole destroyed Tom Court, I guess it maybe says a lot more about the players around you than the ability of the props.

Whisper it quietly, but I don’t see BOD going on this tour.

CFH – Catch yourself on. 33-1 that he starts.

Interesting Poll on the telegraph. Who should Gatland pick.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/international/britishandirishlionsrugby/9519473/Poll-Who-should-Warren-Gatland-pick-for-the-Lions.html

Based on the options avaiable I have:

    Kearney
    Bowe
    BOD
    Roberts
    North
    Sexton
    Phillips
    Healy
    Best
    Jones
    Gray
    Davies
    Ferris
    Warburton
    Heaslip

Problem with Jonathan Davis is he couldnt pass water, combine him with Roberts or Tuilagi and you centres would have the combined “hands” of Abu Hamzar and that bird from CBbies.

Well 2 from 2 for Ulster, very pleased with that considering we are still not back to full strength. I thought both sides were poor in the first half but the Ospreys took the gift we gave them. Ulster pack were very poor first half until we bulked it up a bit. Ulster much better in second half and probably just about deserved the win, the try was very well worked.

Big home game next week against Munster would be great to be 3 from 3 after that one. Ain’t that right DD?

Unfortunately not Jon. However I’ll be tuning in on BBC to watch. I think it will be a really close game, Ulster will be looking to build from last week and start integrating the Ireland boys while the O’s will want to get a win under their belts.

Just a pity Tommy Bowe isn’t fit!!

Good to see Gats finally appointed for the Welsh and Irish Lions tour 😀

As an Ulster fan I’m really looking forward to this season. We have had a good preseason and a solid start to the league against A strong Glasgow side. Considering we have Court, Best, Tuohy, Henry, Ferris and Wilson to return to the pack then I believe we will really dominate teams up front. Nick Williams also is a bit of a beast at 8.

In the girls we have Pienar, Wallace, Trimble and Bowe to return along with a good mix of young guys coming through. My only worry is at 10 as Jackson and O’Connor are quite young and don’t have a huge amount of experience.

However I think we will reach the last 4 in both the league and Europe. As for Prem I think Sarries will be hard to beat however I’d like to see Exeter do well as young Ian Whitten from Ulster has moved over there.

From an international pov Ireland have Eng and Fra in Dublin which we can win. We have Wales in Cardiff as the first match so if we can win that and get a bit of momentum then we could lift the 6 nations.

Just noticed Ferris and Trimble are in the Ulster squad for the Ospreys game on sat. Should be a cracker.

If any STW’ers are visiting Ravenhill let me know and we will have a few pints of the black stuff!!

Similar to ads. When working for Trailfinders I was booking a round the world trip for a couple that were hard work and difficult to have any craic with. I was searching availability on my computer and getting no where. I noticed the man of the couple holding his shoulder and to fill the awkward silence I asked if he had hurt his shoulder. When he informed me that he had lost his full arm several years earlier in an accident it’s fair to say the silences were much more awkward from that point on.

That sounds like the well known Siemens injector issue, which was subject to a recent recall…

Interesting, the dealer wouldn’t tell us what the issue was other than the generic, ‘electrical’ problem.

It also really doesn’t like ‘rolling’ starts in higher gears, so slow speed getaways in say 2nd gear are almost a no-go. I put it down to it being a relatively large car and a low(er) capacity/torque engine rather than the stop/start as such.

My wife has the 1.6 tdi (105) not BM, and this is a real PITA. I think the gear ratios are too high. When approaching a roundabout and crawling in 2nd you generally have to change to 1st to avoid a stall when moving off. Presumably the gearing is such to reduce high revs and improve fuel consuption. I have to say though the wind noise and buffeting around 60-70mph is excessive for a ‘quality’ car brand.

We have also had a complete electrical failure after 15 months which resulted in the RAC coming to pick the mrs up.

Would I buy again, no. My company Vauxhall Insignia is a much more pleasant drive and is just soooo much quieter.

Seems that Afoa isn’t aware of this falling over you speak of. Ulster pack going through the Glasgow props at a rate of knots

    Tom,

I’ve tried a number of waterproof shorts and find them all a bit, ‘boil in the bag’ so tend to just use my normal riding shorts all year. thermal bibs underneath

For base layers I’ve tried a number of Merino and I have to say I don’t think its worth the huge premium you pay over synthetic base layers. It does keep you warm and doesn’t smell but what they don’t tell you is that it stays wet and take forever to dry. My favourite base for cold weather is TNF warm. Keeps you really toastie, wicks well and dries quickly. The long sleeve zip neck is on sale at Go Outdoors for £12.99 in store
