Ok I’ll try to explain this. The refs when employed by their unions have an obligation to not bring the union into disrepute. However at IRB contracted events like the World Cup and presumably HK 7’s there is an obligation to not bring the IRB into disrepute. ie Don’t criticise your refereeing panel team mates.

I suppose I deserved that! Very disappointed with the performance, we were simply not accurate enough to beat a defence like Sarries. The scoreline flattered them a little as the first score should never have come from the line out which was an Ulster throw. The best team won however.

The only positive was the return of Tommy Bowe who looked sharp considering he’s been out 4 months. Off to find a wolf hunter!

As long as we get someone who can bring a level of professionalism to the role, an ability to deal with the blazers in D4 and doesn’t have a provincial bias then I’ll be happy. If I had my choice Jake White would be good.

It was a very good performance and our first win in Dublin since 1999 so hopefully this will give us a bit of confidence heading over to Sarries next w/e.

TBH its the strongest side we can put out, injuries to Wallace, Marshall, Bowe, Pienaar, Henderson, Fez, Wilson and Henry as well as Gilroy and Best excluded due to the IRFU management programme. Watch out for Nick Williams if he comes off the bench, explosive power at its best! Ulster have been poor in their past three games so need a big performance. SUFTUM!
