would most good bike shops do this for free?

They usually charge to stop time wasters but you get a recipt and claim the cost back on the insurance. Its normally only £10-£15 which is fair enough

and yes if its over 4K then you need to specify it on your policy just like you would on a std household policy, which isnt always as bad as you think cost wise. I cant get M&S insurance in oldham as its full of dodgy geezers but the halifax insurance premium is only an extra £90/yr for £10K of bikes, which i dinst think was bad at all!

So taking that into account and the fact that M&S insurance is a hell of a lot more it may not pay to go that route

Yes claimed through M & S for a stolen bike.

First off you need a picture of you and the bike as proof of ownership.

Second, if its a none spec build then you need to obtain two quotes from independant shops for a rebuild price, it will be based on like for like new for old.

In my case it was an old ti frame with old XTR on but rourkes and swinnertons could only quote for new prices so the price was huge in comparison to actual value, though i dint complain as a cheque landed a few weeks later.

Very good in my experiance just make sure you have photos of you on/stood by the bike inc detailed pics as extra weight when claiming if needed

Try british cycling or CTC maybes.

It will cost a fortune if its not on house insurance ill tell you now, like more than your holiday no doubt on a £3500 bike

if no one wants it for what your asking maybe you are being greedy?

End of teh day, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, if you are struggling with ebay then your going to struggle tbh

I was going to guess 25% of turnover.

You need to remember the fizzy drinks industry is pretty much pure profit, imagine the dregs in the can after drinking it to be the cost compared to the rest of the contents being teh profit

Was it a hit and run type event or bump in car park?

There is always teh Motor Insurance bureau. We managed to claim when a stolen, or reported stolen car hit my wife and false details were given. They paid out more than we paid for teh car and we sold it on ebay for repair

a clothing sponsor may pay one of the big 5 £25K a year for example, then there are all the other bits and bobs. If they are busy and spread their wings then they could prob earn a couple of hundred a year but that would mean a lot more than just racing and winning the races.

Home insurance, mine works out at 0.8% of the value of the bike per year to insure with Halifax, and thas worldwide!

Cheaper than you think it would be and thats for the year, not just the holiday

I have an 52 130bhp golf and cant fault it.

Still does over 60mpg on a run if you take it easy and stick to 65-75mph. bought it with 70K on it and on 130 now and touch wood not had a problem.

I wouldnt say handling is that bad, its a lot nicer than a focus to drive in my opinion and a lot better finished. If i didnt need a bigger car then id keep it till it died!

You can always claim back the difference in HMRC rate to what you’ve been paid as an expense on your tax return.

I only get 25p but at least got a cheque from HMRC last week and an increased tax allowance for this year, all helps

if you do enough searching you will find all the companies that make UK niche brand frames. For example i have the contacts for the guys who make the Pipedream Ti Frames, they work out about £450 delivered.

Who do you think make on ones carbon frames, the yanks?

chainsuck is down to wear and not setup though.

Some shops like that cater for the 90% market that is not you and me who have worked in a LBS, rode over half your life and get bored at trail centres (the 10% minority)

Key figures, turnover, expansion rates, company history, key pivotal moments in the history, competetors, brand knowledge/awareness, company ethos, annual report info detailing future plans, swot analysis prior to going in there as you will do that for example. Know how the stores work and how they keep costs down, and how there seasonal middle isle crap has a massive fast turnover of cheap chinese tat that people love and impulse buy. These are all areas that being knowledgeable in will help out.

Carry yourself confidently, dont mutter, speak clear and concisely, have some authority in your mannerism, look corporate but not over the top, maybes slip in a non conventional pair of shoes, belt, shirt etc soo you look and feel confident in what you wear and not like you are a burton menequin. tiniest bit of corporate colour on a shirt, i.e. orange and black stripe as long as its subtle will stand you in good stead, but make it very subtle. Maybe orange cufflinks? Get a hair cut too.

Dont worry if you muck something up, just leave the spade at the door and dont try bullshit your way out. Just say sorry i dont know.

And lastly just think about what type of person they want. Hard working, commercially savvy, think on your feet, approachable yet very firm and authoritive and lastly make small talk with the one who makes the final decision, try spark a conversation over coffee or lunch and that will help. Its not what you know at the end of the day

LAstly, their potatoes are out of the same field as waitrose and sainsburys, just not the right size for them guys!

I would say he was of the same genepool as josh bender

Game for a laugh, unfortunately not bright enough to see what he was doing was slightly dangerous for. He stood out as others were simply not stupid enough to do what he did on the bikes of the day

Im on 130K on a 52 plate Mark IV golf 1.9GT Tdi 130 and its an ace car. No problems, and if you drive it easy and stick to between 65 and 75 on the motorway it will give you between 60 and 65mpg! Even did norfolk to Manchester averaging 70mpg once

All i have ever done is drop the oil and flush it with a forte engine flush which really seems to refresh it

Makkag, just bear in mind that when you go most of the lifts will still be shut so you will be limited to just the les gets/Morzine area (third map i posted up)

Take minions/high rollers, double ply for the rear, spare pads as they are a lot more than superstar ones and thats all you really need.

You are more likely to do a wheel, shock or mech than chain or casette.

And if it does go tits up then either get your CC out or stop riding depending upon the days left to cost ratio
