yeah screwdriver them out and push them back in. If you are being really bone idle you can do it without taking the legs off, just clean them up with a rag and cotton buds

La Thuile is like a perfectly manicured trail centre built in beautiful surroundings for 5/6″ bikes. Really well built place (yes its all man made im told, even K2)

On the other side, you might still be two weeks off. This stage can drag like mad.

The 1st is nearly over its due date too.

Oh and when the mrs starts really screaming and pulling funny faces you will phone the midwife only be told to run her a hot bath! I went back to bed at this stage with the second, no point in us both being knackered.

Then once you get to hospital thats another drag, 16 hours with our first!

On the other hand it can be contractions, waters gone and baby out in 20 minutes

I wonder if he has thought about the ramifications of posting it on FB in the first place (if they are actually his images)

Maybe he plans taking on FB at some stage tpossibly on a quiet bankholiday tuesday

I had one and drilled a third hole in it to get that 1.5″ of drop you so miss with it and it worked a treat.

Stopped using it when CRC had the deal on, that and funning it in a cube stereo with 34.9 post made it look like a cocktail stick in a welly.

I found it more pleasing to use than the reverb if im being honest. Especially with the 3rd hole, its either up, down a bit or down. The reverb never seems to be in the right place. I wish you could set a reverb to have incremental drops than it would be perfect.

Oh and yeah they are prone to snap by all accounts so if you are a fat barsteward i wouldnt bother, but then every part is easily and cheaply replaceable, hence why i thought id give it a shot drilling mine.

Reverbs on the other hand seem to spend more time knackered than working.

I have the IGN map and have been meticulously scouring it but nothing is jumping out at me thats all. Tried it last year as i said and id really like to get to the Roche de Mio from Bourg but dont fancy getting lost en route again and wasting a day. Once you get to the Roche de Mio getting back looks easy, its just the traverse across to la Roche which is proving difficult to find. LAst time we set off up a road climb marked up as a red climb on teh VTT lift map but it seemed endless.

WOndering if just driving to La Roche is the answer? Is there a bike bus from the valley floor to La Roche does anyone know.

And then from Champrey back up and over, is this a 500m climb which ever way you attack it?

I have used them all and now resigned myself to parcelforce. Do an online search for a discount code, you can normally find a 10% one online. And doing it direct is cheaper than on the agents sites.

If you do use parcel2go, dont be sucked into the cheap offers as its a 50/50 chance it will arrive

12 years old, you could try a new air seal kit? However you might be able to pick up a replacement cheaper than it costs to get it repaired.

    What size is it

Is there any rules regarding watching american TV series in a way which watching a film would be classed as illegal? If not have a look at a website called let me watch it.com.

Im not sure there is anything illegal in watching a TV series there is there? Top gear is on there going back to 1989, surely there is nothing wrong with watching that (just so that i dont get booed off immediately)

I took a punt on this Vango something or other 800 last year at a car boot sale, bought it for £20 not knowing if it was complete/knackered etc and it turned out to be a good punt. It was bought off a fat family, and i reckon it was used once, rained, they got fed up, dropped it and packed it up.

Quick hose and mop out to get rid of the dried cut grass from the inside and all good.

Used it in the alps last year and the 4 of us had a double berth each

Will be perfect for the family with just one sleeping pod erected

There is a good few spots at the bottom by the river which are great for camping.

There is a place which was right near the venosc lift in 2 alpes that was a boarder lodge or something like that which was advertising accom for 15euros the year before last.

Maybe some can shed some more light as to teh name as i cant seem to find it now, but it looked ideal

    Anyone know La Plagne well?

We went last year and we were allbeit late in the season and not all lifts were open, but getting from Monchavin or coches was a nightmare. We got to the top of Plan Bois i think and then tried riding around to the Roche De Mio lift and gave up (massive climb and 33degrees).

So how on earth do you get to the Roche De Mio lift? Can you drop down to La roche and go up from there or should we have just started at La Roche as these aren’t connected to Monchavin area lifts?

Riding from the fenicular in Bourg to Champagny would be an epic day if its possible

Ah is that what you can ride back to Bourg? No one was up for a 6pm explore after a day at La Thuile last year, seemed a shame to all drive home

Cheers guys, that looks a better route. The only time i have done it we started in Langdale and did a bog marh up to the calf, down some grassy hill to sedbergh, around to the climb back up it shows and then down bowderdale. Going up that thing twice is a be atch!

We have just had a chat with Sky and swapped to them from Virgin.

We were paying just under £60/month for 20mb broadband, phone eve & weekend and tv family pack (no TIVO box or anything).

Sky have done it for £25.87/month (Unlimited broadband, phone but not free evening and weekend which is of no concern as the landline spends most of its time with flat batteries) and the Plus box with entertainment pack and 2 months free movies)

This was in addition to paying £119 for a years line rental as above, but overall not a bad deal in comparison to what we were paying

Doug, we will be out there the same time as you, either camping or getting a chalet if i can find somewhere affordable that isnt a hovel.

Give us a shout if you fancy any back country trecks, we are looking to do the same and will all be driving so have cars/vans and have a decent grip on the area. We were thinking of a night or two in a refuge too, however still TBC, out there 20-29th July

Yeah but they still cocked up in the first place, you just happen to be lucky, normally they take your money and send you something, possibly what you ordered and occasionally the same year you ordered it.

Id say lucky once, second time………………

I ran single ply 2.4 Advantages last year and didnt puncture but then im quite a light rider.

Basically something you dont care about on the rear as they get shredded in the alps

If you want to stop and ride without losing a day travelling have a look at Lac Blanc in the Alsace. Its a 6 hr drive from Calais so you can time tunnel/ferry to get you there in good time to ride and then drive to alpe d’huez after so you dont lose a day. You can miss a fair few tolls out too/go through Switzerland also.

Riding wise, its a 300m hill with lift and trail centre like feel but damn technical, a lot more so than the alps DH tracks. Its like a UK downhill but the blues and reds are good fun.

The two black tracks are called le roots and le rocks, which basically describes them. Cafe, bike hire/shop, showers there and you can camp in teh car park. Loads of germans ride there too.

Good option for a free day on the way out/back if you have the energy to ride and drive a long way!

I think there are some steps down to the Thames here and there, sand at the bottom too, and water.

Just close your eyes and you can pretend you are in the peaks

The peaks is rubbish by the way, dont come, all the hills have been flattened recently, did you not hear? PORC is where its at

just go to halfords and get a bike box or search ebay for bike bag, there are loads of results as there aint a category for them so its easy to find a bargain. I got a £150 bag for £20, think it was bought in NZ and used the once to bring a bike over, sold by someone in london who probably had more money than sense
