You can but the deposit will be lost

You could take out an annual policy and cancel it every 2 weeks when you are in the cool off period. Could get tiresome though

Engine will generally overcome rusted brakes. Move the car behind it, floor it and await a bang as they release!

Two drivers min and insist the 2nd driver gets rest when not driving!

Be careful sleeping in aires! We stopped in one in an lev with 10 of us scattered about in and out of the van, one of the guys woke up with someone’s arm through the side window rifling through a bag! They know you are knackerd so really do try it on!

The tunnel is worth the extra, it really does save about 4 hrs by the time you factor on arriving, waiting, boarding, waiting to sail, sailing, unloading etc and on a journey of that length it’s worth missing that faff

If you are well over a ton which by the sounds of it you are, you are prob best going down the apologetic route. Having one blip on 10 years will possibly be seen as partly admissible. You could throw into the mix that average miles per year is 12000, you do xxx per year if over this and have always had a clean licence, again suggesting it was a daft mistake. Check the time scale they have to issue court date etched and any inaccuracies on their part will get you off.

A friend told his solicitor to do one in court last time, represented himself and got off scot free! Sort out your facts and technicalities if there are one and stand up yourself! At least if you get a ban you haven’t had to line a solicitors pockets for the pleasure of doing nothing also, put it toward taxis!

Genuine fake TLD shorts bought as a punt as i wanted something like fox huck shorts in a non stretchy material, red and not over £60 – Only thing that seemed to fit the bill and very impressed

Oury grips from On one for £13 and and a cheap shock pump to replace the last one that went bang, KA Tec bearings with some free DU bush’s, at least thats what i presume they are!

And two lengths of XTR cable from CRC to finish the road bike build! Ages since ive had such a dump in one go!

Buy a pipe cutter, just a cheap adjustable one and just gently tap the star nut in with the bolt screwed in, will take you longer to get to the bike shop

Stop off at lac blanc bike park in the Alsace, time your crossing right and you won’t miss a days riding! Hot tip

I’ve always done it in one go apart from stopping there the night before, riding the following day then hot footing it to calais

    It is possible

You need to run a SRAM shifter and space out where the cable bolts to teh mech by exactly 6mm to get the pull ratio right.

I did this last week and it survived Sticks descent down Helvellyn at the weekend, cable pulled through once but that was my fault for not wrapping the cable around the spacers (washers) to get a good purchase.

Only thing i dont like is SRAM shifters. X7 used and the up lever was getting stuck behind the down lever so ive cut a bit off.

Its not a bodge, it works perfect and someone has actually taken the time to reverse engineer the pull ratios. Its actually 0.236″ or 5.99mm that you need to space it out (depending on how anal you are)

So in short, works exactly as it would with a shimano 10spd shifter but you have 9 gears!

And the likes of Madison always have deals on, like the SLX clutch mechs from Merlin. They were all boxed so i suspect Merlin took the lot on a largely reduced rate. They generally do a clearout price for 10+, 50+, 100+ etc so take them all and corner the market means you buy cheap, sell cheap but shift them all and make a fast buck!

There is no VAT on helmets however some retailers/brands will fill this gap with profit!

    bland
    Full Member

    Actually it will

You will need to run it with a SRAM shifter and space the cable out 6mm where it bolts to the mech to get the right pull ratio.

Mine came last week and tried it at the weekend in the lakes, worked great! Not sure about SRAM shifters though. Used an X7 and the up lever gets stuck behind the down clicky lever, gash design! Fixed it by chopping a bit off the lever but not as good as shimano ones so its a win lose scenario. Shifts fine, didnt drop and it QUIET!

We had an xtr spd part company with the axle yesterday near patterde and perseverance paid in that we tracked down a local who had an old set we bought off him. Not quite trail side but no bike shops and ride saved!

Prob a post mount, post mount is two little stubs on the fork that the bolts go into, is mounts are two holes!

Why no more than 160 on rear?

160 Xc, 180 free ride stuff, 203 DH generally speaking

Bearings are shite cheapo things that will last 300 miles max!

We also did hellvellyn but from martindale and never made the top as we had a few mechanicles and flats including an xtr pedal coming off the axle! Thorough searching of glenridding and patterdale eventually turned up an old pair of spd’s courtesy of the kind chap at the boat hire place on the lake! Ride salvaged but did sticks descent instead which was the verge of rideable in places and then the descent to dale end, fab day in the sun on dusty trails!

So you suggest the Ullswater Bridleway south to north as oppose to north to south?

N to S seems to be the done way and i just found a vid of the Boredale to Dale Head route and that looks lovely to finish on (when tired)

I have a Cham bike book I’ll sell you if you want it? Bought it last year but just seems a hassle riding there now what with lift Closures, train not running and spot fines for riding the wrong trails. Rode there 3 times and its good but not easy to find trails that join together IMO – check lifts are still open that week too as most places will be closed
