Naim Nait 2? I had one for 15 years and sold it for abut £50 less then I paid. Could be a bit cheaper than the later ones and can be repaired if necessary.

Ideal match for it would be Linn Kan II’s. Again, no idea on current price.

Never sure if these people mean the comments or not, really not nice if it is meant though.

I think most celebs or people in the news on Twitter get this treatment, just have to block it out.

Any of the video’s on this link any use – more aimed at cyclists looking after themselves in the Fair City.

Bought some medium bib pants but will be taking them back. There is a lot of material in the crotch area which I seem unable to fill! The seam around the knee sort of rubs as the legs moved. I tried them on and did 30 seconds on the turbo.

Not to impressed really but sizing more generous than I expected. I had planned to wear bib shorts under them anyway for comfort so not concerned about thin pad. I would say all the reflective material could have been useful in winter.

Can’t find it now but there was a pic of Lance Armstrong using Campag Delta brakes in a TT in the TdF some years ago.

Clearly illegal to use as they have taken the TdF victories away from him!

Out of interest anyone know why she lost her job over this? Not condoning for one minute what she did but I do not quite understand why she could be sacked for a minor RTA. AFAIK she was not on work time or anything.

If everybody who was stupid behind a wheel got sacked the dole queue’s would be a lot longer.

The cyclist in question should have been invited on as well for balance.

Scary sums here a lot of £7k to £10k. Making me scared of when/if my daughter gets married. Might have to go into hiding…..

And to follow up something JCL says above; how many cyclists have been killed riding through red lights?

Not heard of one in recent years.

A quick look at the stats for cycling deaths in London is that this year is similar to the last few years in total – not that that makes it right. If the recent 6 deaths had not happened in such quick succession we would have been heralding a reduction in numbers for 2013. If the 13 had died at the rate of about one a month nothing much would have been said in the media but 7 in 10 months and 6 in two weeks skews the trend.

I have no access to stats to see if autumn is a worse time for cycling deaths or serious injury long term. My perception, perhaps wrongly, is that after the clocks change it takes people a few days to get used to it and that includes cyclists. I have been caught out before with no lights if I have been later back then I thought or non reflective clothing.

I have issue one and the last 10-12 issues. Binned the rest when I moved house but decided to keep issue one just in case in might be worth something in the future.

Is The Ride worth anything then? I have issues 1-4, 2 of them unread upstairs. Since I retired have less time for reading….

Assuming that I was the only person on here to watch this last Saturday?

Is it OK to confess to hair envy?

But happy with your green shoe collection? And Kasper’s hair? wtf.

I watched it and enjoyed it as usual. Wondered if Gordon Brown has considered starting a new party! The new English boyfriend seemed it a bit weird. Wonders if there is a vacancy there;-)

Employ a shopper, handyman and bike mechanic.

I am retired and have enough money really I suppose, but I keep having to get home to buy food, do jobs around the house and fettle bikes. Barely time to come on here or Twitter!

A couple of apartments around the world would be nice along with helping out people less fortunate than myself. Maybe fund an outdoor education centre.

I went with black with pink decals. Mercian resprayed it for me with GilM doing the decals. Maybe with blue decals would go with your forks?

According to STW twitter feed new van developed a fault this morning. Sorry, don’t know how to copy a tweet onto here. #mtbvantest

Hope they have a copy of The Sun to keep them going.

    T5 wouldn’t have done that;-)

Might consider next autumn or far more likely to be summer 2015 for me. Can’t see a railway station in Boise, though there is probably a rail/bus link. Not sure about bike boxes on them, anybody know?

Fly into SLC and only a couple of days ride to Idaho Falls would be an option, did that some years ago.

Nigel, just seen thread. That is my sister’s area if you ever need advice again (she owns East Riding Labs in Hull) – or anybody else for that matter.

My brother and brother in law also in trade if asbestos needs ever removing.

    Trust you are keeping well.

Scottish singlespeed deck here and been listening to it quite a bit recently. Last night I was listening to a double album (Billy Bragg / Wilco) and every few songs had to get off sofa to change sides.

It all sounds great and happy to do it but when on turbo or doing stuff around the house then digital is more convenient.

Still pick up odd old record I missed out on first time at cheap prices and occasional new one. Currently waiting for the Scud Mountain Boys latest.

Yes Jambalaya, loads of songs, Billy Bragg, Fine Young Cannibals, Christy Moore for a start. Could be a day of music and tea )with Pinochet).

It does seem odd for the most divisive politician of recent years (ever?) to have a day named after her when wounds have certainly not healed in many parts of the nation. And Scotland. Not well thought out.

I can remember when it was a big deal when Terry Biddlecombe was the first to ride 1,000 winners. What AP has done is incredible, he does get the best horses but he is a top rider. Look just how far behind him the next best are.

Tea-total and constantly dieting while having to be fit and strong enough to keep a horse in a straight line.

There was an anecdote last night that he went on a 4 day golfing holiday to Portugal. He still flew back one afternoon to ride one horse at Southwell before returning to Portugal. Dedication.

I tried them and didn’t like them. I then, for some reason, bought the Specialized BG version and liked them a lot. They were a bit worn after 2 big tours in USA plus other loads of other riding and decided to retry the Ergon’s. Still did not like them!

Read about this route recently and likely to be my next USA trip. Looked at Sun Valley before.
Rode down TD to Hartsel and then Tarryall alternate to Denver this year. Looking for more of the same.

Audax will have controls at cafes every ~50km – 80km. Just ride from one to the other and eat and drink. As said above just keep a cap on your speed for the first 275km. If still frisky you can always pick up pace.

Try and build up to do a weekly 100km ride and perhaps aim to do ~150km (or 100 miles) once a month.

You won’t die or anything. Good luck.

Benji – think it was £110k per year but your basic point still valid.

I think about 10% of people pay higher rate of tax so by most folks standard £60k is wealthy.

Mrs B and I will have been together 20 years in November traveling between Derby and London. Works for us but we are both happy with our own company.

Not been able to ride as much as I would like as she does not cycle nor can she drive. But she is worth it.

Maybe helped we were in our mid 30’s when we met, not sure it would have worked if we were younger. By ~35 ish we were a bit more mature about things.

Elvis Costello album was ‘A Good Year For The Roses’, good stuff.

Lucinda WIlliams as mentioned earlier is excellent. Car Wheels on A Gravel Road and World WIthout Tears. ‘West’ has some excellent stuff as well. Listen to songs such as ‘Jackson’ or Lake Charles.

I also like Gillian Welch, Ryan Adams, Scud Mountain Boys, Pernice Brothers.

Great ride James, well done on a massive achievement. A couple of years ago your speed was ~record pace subject to re-routes in NM. Enjoyed following your blue dot.

Brilliant rides from Mike and James O to be first and fourth. Mike’s pie order at Pie Town was triple berry and strawberry key lime.
