Messed up there big time but been with Mrs B for 16 years happy next month.

I know that I still feel lucky to be dating her and she passed a similar comment the other day about me. Think that may be the secret.

She is one of the least sporty people I know but doesn't mind me doing my thing and I try to make sure I do not over do the events. Inevitably compromises on both sides but I hope we grow old(er) together.

Can I throw in good pension provision as a requirement? Mrs B has a final salary pension;-)

Mark 1 RR it is supposed to but I gave up a long time ago. The later versions supposed to be better but I have not looked to see what the difference is as it is aademic. I've got what I've got. Nice bike other than that though.

Over the years, 90's mostly, I have bought hi-fi gear that brought improvements that I heard in a shop or at home that was better than what I had. It has got to the stage that I would need to spend £1k+ to get any discernable improvement and I do not wish to pay that. I am 'stuck' with a LP12 / ittok / Dynavector mc / Naim 70/140 / Credo's and Avondale tweaked Arcam cd player. I also put in a specific spur with round pin plugs.

So I know where you are coming with from on hi-fi and you do not need to convince me or say Mr Woppit. SFB (amongst others) is just baiting you so do as I do and page down when you see a response from him and if you must read it do not respond!

Just go and ride your expensive bike round in a big circle and relax;-)

I used one all weekend on a recent trip over the Cambrian Trail and it was great in strong winds and rain. Only a cheap Continental one which does not fit as well as others. Using it commuting at the moment. Thinking of upgrading to one of those nice looking Craft ones…..

A bit OT but a few years ago I had a seperate spur for my hi-fi with round pin plugs installed. Cost ~£300, pretty cheap for a hi-fi upgrade. Happy enough (Linn / Naim set up)

And at the Bike Radar event he said he wanted to do it clean, unlike the current record holder who has since been banned.

Someone posted about this a couple of days ago on our bike club but not said the date. Would love to go and give him a cheer.

At Bike Radar event in late May he was talking about it, iirc he has to give the men in blazers 6 months notice which he had not done so that would be early December at the very earliest. And there was some bike event / period he wanted to avoid – can't remeber that bit though.

Thanks for response. We will have maps as well as gps and hopefully room for common sense in the camelbak!

If day is good and we feel fine we can have a feed at Elan village and go for it if early enough. Will have about an hour or so of daylight 'spare' all being well for mechanicals etc.

Just need to amke sure there is accommodation beyond Claerwen should we make it.

Just a point on the last post by bhallworth; I am pretty certain the sportive is not made by Dedaccai although the the Nero / Ribelle / a n other are. The sportive frame is made elsewhere.

My mates dad has a Ribble Sportive, although over 70 now he was a top level roadie in his time. Reckons it is the best bike he has ever ridden.

Just landed on my desk is a Galmin Legend HcX which I got off Ebay business. Brand new with GB topo maps loaded and postage for about £190. Its an offer of the month so may be more available. After a thread last week decided to buy Legend rather than Vista as seemed minimal difference. (Also inclined to buy things better than I need…)

If I have the time then I listen to my Linn LP12 with Ittok arm and Dynavector DV-20X cart. Lovely sound. If messing with the bike or cooking then its the CD player.

It was a great rode by Rob, we only got two lap times below 50 minutes (neither me)which I have done regularly in previous years.

I rode a 29'er for the first three laps and my chain snapped twice on second lap and again on the thirrd so I switched to my ss.

There was a couple of flat sections in the mud where I only just kept going on the ss, feeling a twinge in my leg on one of them. Went to an ostepoath yesterday and I have damaged a muscle in my calf!

Rode the 'glory' lap flat out on my ss and when I reached the last climb up to the horse jumps thought I would see how far I could get and get off on walk. As I got further up the climb the crowd could see me struggling to turn the gear and cheered me on. Couldn't walk could I? Made it to the top, just, thanks all.

Keep the cds in the freezer!

My heroic's extend to a small break to my helmet on my first lap after a stack on that slippery slope. Never noticed the break and completed that and two more with helmet in that condition.
