As a subscriber since edition 1 I continue to enjoy the mag, very few poor issues imo. I have thought the last couple of issues were on thinner / lighter paper but can't be arsed to check if my perception is right or not.

For 10k racing to half marathon I would say yes but wear sparingly and at your age(!) stretch more, particularly your achilles.

There is less cushioning under the heal and you can stretch here. You will as though you are flying!

Use training shoes for training and racing shoes for racing…….

Difficult but will go for Shane MacGowan. Song choice is 2A Pair of Brown Eyes" today, could be different tommorrow.

Llama – the woman who challenged herself to a mile was doing it in the Serpentine at 0800 this morning. Think she swims regularly for fitness but outdoors in Spring won't be easy. Shelagh Fogerty is her name, R5 live presenter.

As some have said riding 24 hours in a team is not easy, four days for untrained cyclists would be difficult, especially in cold – no matter how much you earn!

I think the record is about 48 hours so a STW relay team would still need to average ~20mph to beat the individual record (Still Andy WIlkinson?)

Kept going so far but some poor grabbed shots around the house. I have tried a couple of things recently and just ordered a book to show me how the SLR camera works! (Nikon D60)

Always liked them and seen them a number of times, a good live band.

Went to school on the N17 – though to me it was the Kilkelly road back then.

Listening to 'Neck' recently and started to appreciate there take on thinks after a few listens.

Saw that last night but surprised ITV did not mention it.

I did wonder if Becks has been approached by the Red Knights for a £20m contribution to buying out the Glazers. Wuld have thought he could afford it…..

Used the Endura coolmax ones but they are a bit sweaty imo.

Congratulations Carl! I got there last year and did a few days riding in the Peak with a few from here. Other than the dodgy knees the day afater riding not much change. Keep having fun….

400 a year is worse than 1 person killed (murdered?)a day above average. And nobody noticed within the trust? A friend of mine has been giving me earache about this bunch for a few years now. His father died there (family not told he had a do not resuscitate order) and his death cert was 'amended'…. There was a first cause of death, number two has disappeared and then there is a third! [He showed me a copy]

Meadowbank B&B – run by a biker, on edge of town and has parking and cleaning facilities. Should be within budget.

Was excellent last weekend. Stay of execution until November – they are appealing the FC(?) decision to turf them out.

From Wirksworth both Cromford and Whatstandwell stations would be convenient to.

Think it is an hourly service now, it was nearer two hourly for years so you are moving at a good time.

A6 into Derby gets busy at rush hour as you would expect but it is all nice up there.

Having problems recently myself. I *think* you have to take your memory card out before connecting it to your PC. (saw it on a forum)

Trying to download the maps thingy and can't get the very latest software!

Bought my team ST from Vince about 10 years ago. Had it resprayed and it looked brilliant but broke where the 853 tubing met the ti at the bottom bracket. Expensive to send to Canada for a (free) repair so it is still in the cellar:-(

I always thought you started at the bottom but my roadie mate, who is quite anal, always starts at the top….

I bought a Cotic roadrat from Tim a couple of years ago. I ahve toured, commuted, winter trainer even done a tt (badly!!) on it. Discs or not, gears or not, mudguards and racks. Loads cheaper than a fargo iirc.

    Olly,

The defy is a nice bike, rode one last year in Scotland for a day. If you are going to commute I would certainly recommend some mudguards and ideally a rack as others have said. {See you Friday!)

He's paid to play football, don't see why he should be banned or stripped of captaincy if he is good enough (I'm not English btw)

But these people in the news really should keep there trousers on! Don't suppose they will ever learn that they won't get away with it…

Wasn't his old man in the news recently?

And something to do with him taking people round the training ground, and a parking story. A bit of a chav

Many folk on here would like to have a zero emission house, I certainly would, but unable to afford it. He has the cash due to his talent in kicking a ball around a field so good luck to him.

A nice project to wotk on as he nears retirement.

Its a lovely route, I did it last year a few days before the event which meant I missed the tacks and got a lovely dunny day.

I would rather do it as a lone. few mates day ride then as an event and enjoy the quiet roads. Before doing the Edradour distellery in the afternoon….

There is one in Hathersage where 11 of us stayed a few years ago. Did not book it myself but you should be able to find it on google. Had 6 bedrooms and plenty of living space and close to the cente. Only a couple of miles to Hope.

Last time I went I had a 10 year old Kona hardtail – you'll me fine with any modern bike. I have flown into Denver, Salt Lake and Las Vegas – wahtever suits.

Car is best, and loads of accommodation available. If going in October check you avoid the fat tire festival if turning up on spec. If going for that sort out accommodation.

Routes / guides easy to find and a few shuttle buses to take you closer to the trails.

From Moab and Fruita why not add in Durango – a nice triangle and some cracking rides there as well.

    Just go!

Unless I have anything to add don't bother. Its usually been said, far more articulately then what I could say, by the time I get there.

And I'm worried about my spelling and prose with all the **** pedants;-)

    Seconded.

I can't have fitted my (old model) light securely so it came breaking the circuit board. I was honest about the fault and they repaired foc under warranty. Which is why I have been a repeat customer.

Glad you are alright, had a few near misses myself over the years.

Worth writing to bus company but police will not help.

From work I cannot link blogs etc but search on thecyclingsilk.blogspot.com and look for a loooonnnng blog in November about cyclists / vehicle accidents.

If he had killed you he would be out back on the roads next Christmas so for alarming a 'poor little girly' he won't have any action taken against him

I have a once (return) used Peak to Creek bike bag with wheels. Cost me £100 willing to let go for £50. I am in Derby (and central London regularly) as a bit big to post.

Mr Nutts response on other thread,(where I have babbled on) of Ashford Castle is very nice. My cousin worked there, not sure she didn't go back there after a stint in US.

If you are driving to Ireland you don't need a passport but you do need some form of ID. I used my work pass! Not sure about the kids but would suggest they would not require anything.

The coast, particularly West, is preferred by me. From Giants Causeway round to Donegal is all stunning. Connemara is wild and wonderful if you get the weather and Co Clare near The Burren equally so (Try Lahinch perhaps). Then you head towards to Killarney and the Beara peninsular. The Islands, Achill, Arran and Clare all worth a visit.

Kids love the seaside and the mountains are near. People really friendly everywhere. On balance within distance of Galway would be good. You have a city near by and excellent scenery / coast to North and South of the city.

It is pricey though. 5e for Guinness in Dublin!
