You stopped at red lights? In London?

I’ve only ridden Oxford St. once, never again.

I have one of those Giant TCR 2’s that racefaceec90 mentioned on previous page. Unridden, no pedals with rrp of £1,499. It is next years model as well.

Looking to sell for £1,000 keep meaning to put it on classifieds (somebody let me down!). The groupset is Ultegra / 105 and Giant finishing kit. It is a M/L size for 5’9″ to 5’11” people. Email in profile if anybody interested.

And I thought they were busy on catching the ‘Hilton flasher’! Thanks for the heads up as I do go that way sometimes.

Thanks Drac. Your second para is probably correct in this particular case. This was 6 or maybe 7 years ago now in a health authority that is regularly in the news for all the wrong reasons. (Police were not interested etc). I get an earful from time to time on this and a few other subjects!

Sb – don’t know who next of kin would be in this situation. Father did not discuss with the adult children (would be in there 40’s at the time)for sure. He won’t move on I’m afraid:-(

One for the professionals; if a second wife approves a DNR could the adult children overrule the decision? Or would the current spouse have the final say.

(Sort of real life situation, a friend believes his father could have been saved with different treatment….)

I did it in Spring and enjoyed it. I bivvied overnight near York as I got a late start. Tough climbs West of York but it is a nice trip. With a minor shortcut reckon easily done in a day in summer if so desired.

You do earn that descent to Pateley Bridge though…

I use Holt’s on Nightingale Road. Very quick turn round and well priced. Or Markenduro;-) If a bit specialist I do use Mercian but they can be slow sometimes.

Used to use Samway’s but can be a long wait and have had a couple of issues in the past.

Ed Moses kept winning for years. Olympics every 4 years, one that USA didn’t go to and no world championships in his day.

(Saw him recently and looks like he could still run sub 50secs)

I got a pair of Rapha 3/4’s for £20 a few years ago (they were seconds but took some looking to see the fault). Quality is excellent and they do some winter tights for £170. Not that much more than some of the these up above.

Look here as well, Craft and Exteondo make some excellent stuff though I do not have any of the full length kit. Where I would go along with Pearl Izumi:

Only thing I can think of is to remove red eye and then put it straight back in. It run’s I understand at very low power this way so you can see it on (just) but not draining power from the battery, I think!

Or speak to Exposure directly – they are excellent

I went with S/S back in ’98 but as you say not doing that trip now (It was good!). Also Rocky Mountain in ’04 but they also stopped a few years ago.

I can’t think of any UK companies currently but Western Spirit mentioned in article have a good rep. Also Kaibab who are Moab based – I have done shuttles with them.

DIY is really easy, done it a couple of times. Fly into Denver or Salt Lake City, pick up a car and go where you want. All the places have plenty of route guides, you can do shuttles in Moab to get out of town and camp sites or accommodation to suit all pockets.

I have done them on my own and met others out there (including a STW’er). People are really friendly and of course no language issues. I should add though that I am happy on my own, would not suit everybody.

I just pushed and rode for two days finishing in just over 29 hours with no bara brith in sight;-) Had a decent nights stop as I wanted to check out some gear which went well.

A nice, but tough route and will be back next year and foregoing some sleep for a quicker time. Beautiful views and weather played ball.

I don’t listen to music for two reasons.

    1) it *may* reduce my ability to hear what is happening around me and do not want to take that chance. That’s my choice, others have other views.

    2) I would rather listen to the birds, wind, rain and other natural sounds, really don’t understand why people would want to have music on in the great outdoors – but if they want to that is there choice. I can listen to music at home.

Maybe I just enjoy the cycling more than some?

I never found the knack so bought some pliers from CRC in a sale. No problems now and easy to remove for cleaning as well.

I also retain the old power links from worn chains for emergencies in my puncture repair kit.

    Grum,

Either of those would be good. The middle of Ireland is a bit boring tbh but the coastal areas are lovely. A train to/from Galway would be a good idea. I would avoid the Ring of Kerry as really busy with cars and buses and the roads are narrow. Near Killarney you can ride through Black Valley to a IYHA on a minor road. The Burren in Clare is worth visiting, Father Ted’s parochial home is not to far from here.

Beara peninsula is nicer and quieter. Mayo is beautiful, I lived there as a child. You could visit Knock (Mayo) which is err interesting(!). Donegal is lovely, Markenduro and I missed out Donegal when we were over there heading from Sligo area directly for Limavady at the North Coast to Giant’s causeway.

Get well soon Gee, I recall a Salsa rider flying past me quite safely which I assume was you.

Another guy passing me got his left / right mixed up – which I guessed and did not move position, he apologised as he went past. Just tiredness really. I have to say I thought all the fast guys passed very safely and well. A guy from Giant, foreign accent, particularly friendly – and fast!

Met a guy who picked one up on June 9th and then proceeded to do the Tour Divide over the next 27 days – straight out of the box! He liked it.

Another rider who had his longer liked it, only problem that with the lefty fork doing anything complicated one handed was ‘interesting’ such as eating. May not be an issue for you though. I would say go for it if you fancy it.

It was also eol 2 years ago though I entered online in advance. Bit early for website I think.

I started at Ninove as 140km was far enough and start/finish at same place. Strarting in Brussels very early and getting back after ~270k would not be fun.

I really enjoyed this event, all except descending on cobbles that is! Go for it.

    Hi Matt,

If Keith’s mate doesn’t take it I probably will. Starting to struggle with my 17 and thinking of going to an 18 – might just go to 1 19 and be done for a few more years slowing down:-)

    Will be at SSUK abw.

About 7,500 since Jan 1st. I did spend 2 months in USA doing 4,000 miles and had done 3,200 before going. Most of these on mtb with close to 5,000 being loaded.
Doubt I will achieve these numbers again – rarely get chance to willy-wave;-)

The cost of the event appeared high for what we got as the trails were already there – a contribution to future maintenance per rider could have been expected. Very enjoyable being in a town and mixing with the locals.

Did the ‘White’ all on my own on Monday. My pics are here:
