And with the oh at his first dog show(1st in his class and 3rd in the overall hound group). A great start to his show career. Next show is a cruffs qualifier 😯

Glorious morning in the lakes today.In the saddle at 6:30 am to do 4 passes in one day.(garburn,gatesgarth,nan bield and then back over garburn)Took 6 hours to do 21 miles and 5500 ft of climbing.Got back to the car and it started raining – perfect timing 😀

Out at 5am Sunday morning to do 4 passes in on day. Garburn,gatsgarth,nan bield then back over garburn before the rain arrives in the afternoon. Only 20 odd miles but a lot of climb/push/carrying involved.

Went with mrs bjj and our dog rogue to his first dog show today. Did really well considering mrs bjj openly admitted that she doesn’t have a clue about ring craft. Won best in class and came 3rd in the overall best in hound group.

Have a look at the Honda accord estate. The new shaped one (08 onwards I think ) does look v nice indeed. Not cheap but fantastic build quality and reliability.

Have not been there for a couple of months myself but if it is like the last time I rode it it’s still as good as ever.

Some chavs that once passed me must of thought that my chain was running a bit dry and lent out of the car and sprayed wd40 over me. Pissed me right off, everyone knows that wd40 doesn’t last 2minutes as a lube.

If they also did this for the lyric it would be spot on.Have a 2 step air and as a climbing aid it’s brilliant.(when it works)

Had a pair for 18 months now. After several rock strikes I’ve only managed to loose one pin so for 30 odd quid I would recommend them.

Have a look at paramo jackets. Got the Quito and I’m very impressed with it. Can run quite hot in warm weather but the venting zips work well.

Tbh if your based in Kirkby – in- furness you’d be better off taking the car to torver and beginning the route from there. As for visiting the prince of Wales pub the best way would be by train from Kirkby. It’s only one stop further up and it’s a really nice ride up the side of the duddon estuary. The pub is right opposite the station. Bloody hell,I’m getting all nostalgic now,makes me want to move back there…….. 😀

Re:the old railway line. Haven’t been up there for a long time but I know for certain that the bridge going over the road at an area called woodland has been taken down. You should still be able to go round and rejoin a bit further on though.

Normally come out at torver but last time we did the route described above(car park,along the wall and through the gate to spoon hall) very entertaining ,certainly gets my vote.

Ah the prince of wales. The current owners bought it off my parents about 10 years ago. Not to sure about the riding up there(wasn’t into mtb back then :oops:)but if you head out of the square in broughton towards coniston torver is only about 5-6miles out. From there you could do one of my all time favourite routes in the lakes-Walna scar. I can vouch for the beer in the pow. The strawberry beer is lush 😉

Be careful when inflating with a compressor. Don’t do like I did and blow the tyre of the rim. A mixture of stans sealant and fairy liquid in your eyes isn’t pleasant. Not to mention the ringing in my ears for two days. Felt like a WW1 shellshock victim .(not that I would know )

Low blood pressure for me. As someone said above I too get a bit dizzy when I stand up to quickly. Resting heart rate was 45bpm this morning..

When ours was a puppy we asked a local farmer if we could put him in a pen with a tup. After a couple of head butts from the sheep. The dog won’t go anywhere near sheep now. Not saying this is the best way but it worked for us. Can now walk through a field full of sheep off lead and he won’t leave my side.

Get mine whistle trained from a young age which helped enormously. Build up the distances slowly and make sure you take plenty of rest stops for him/her. (ok,there for me really but I don’t tell him that)If you see any steams when your out always give him an opportunity to drink.Getting the dog to keep out of your way when riding is one to work on. Accidentally ran over my dog the first time I took him out on the trails with me. Turn out to be a good thing because he now keeps well out of my way when going downhill.

Into the last hour of a 12 hr shift for me. Going through a tired spell atm. Trouble is, I just know when I finish at 6 that I will wake up and struggle to get to sleep.

Got it earlier this year. Always wanted one but I thought I would look a bit of an idiot wearing it. Got to an age now that I’ve gone past caring.

Another to throw into the mix is the paramo fuera windproof jacket. Wash in nikwax tx direct and it will withstand rain for about an hour(depending how heavy obviously).Packs down small though not as much as the montane. On the flip side I think that it’s a bit more robust and would probably survive a spill better.

After several years on clipless I thought I’d give flats a go using skate shoes.Took me a while to to relearn how to pedal,jump and bunny hop but now I wouldn’t go back to clipless off road.Esp. since I changed to am40 shoes.(Evan more grip.)Still use clipless on my road bike though…….

After the same thing happened to me three times on one ride I converted to getto tubeless.Problem solved.
