bjj That must play on your mind. That’s quite different to healing bones. Small steps must be the most popular bit of advice you’re hearing

It does play on my mind a bit.I will just have to make sure there is someone with me the first few times I go out. Don’t want to be “getting giggy with it” on my own in the middle of nowhere 🙂 .It’s really frustrating because i’d just got back to the level of fitness I had before I broke my ankle last october. 👿

Had a seizure four weeks ago. Bit worrying because I’d just got back from a big ride out in the lakes on my own. Went out on the bike for the first time yesterday. Nothing to strenuous, just an hour along the canal to pub for a bite to eat and a pint with the wife and dog. Went back to work today and at the back to work interview they said they would prefer if I stopped off work (on full pay) until I have my MRI scans in four weeks time. The thing is I feel fine physically but I feel guilty having time off. I suppose I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Gave up 4 years ago using nicorette gum. Tried giving up several times before but it was for other people, not for myself. For me that was the difference. I wanted to give up.

Wouldn’t bother getting a 2nd hand helmet if I was you. It may look ok on the outside but if it’s been dropped the inner shell may be damaged. You might as well put an watermelon on your Bonce. Still, on your head be it. 😀

Try putting some talc in-between the tyre and tube. I also had the same problem and after asking on here this was suggested to me. Didn’t try it though, went with the other suggestion of going getto tubeless and haven’t looked back.
    Edit: Dam to slow!

Have a look at Eyewear outlet .co.uk. I know you said that you were not interested in Oakleys but if you saw some of prices it may change your mind.

Not enough protein in that diet. Aim to have some form of protein with every meal. What’s protein I hear you ask?. Well basically anything that had eyes or came out of something that had eyes (milk, cheese) is protein. As said above also look at getting some healthy fats down you. Oily fish (mackerel, salmon), nuts, avocado are all good to have.

Ninkynonk thats quite intresting regarding lack of sleep.I was working nights leading up to my seizure and I had only about 12hrs sleep in 64.The strange thing is though is that I felt really fresh at the end of the (albiet big) ride.

My dad gave me his old lead injected chair leg that he used to keep under the bar in the pub we used to own.It now rests beside me and the wifes bed in our home.Never used it.Never want to use it but I will if me and/or my family are ever endagerd. Before anyone says “you can’t use that” it’s simple – don’t break into my house and I won’t have to.

Sorry for the highjack but thanks for the info. Half an hour after getting back from my last ride 2 weeks ago I to had my first seizure. Was in the car (not driving, my wife was thank god) at the time. According to my wife I stopped breathing at one point which as you would imagine freaked both her and my 10 yr old son out big time. Been to see the specialist yesterday and now waiting for an MRI and brain scan. Not allowed to drive for 6 months (which I can put up with) but like the op I’m more worried about my cycling.

Used to have a RGV. M(the upside down forked and banana swingarm version) back in 91 when I was 17. It was an absolute hoot to ride. Top end wasn’t that fast-it topped out around the 130 mark but boy did it handle 😈 .where I lived around the south lakes it was the perfect bike around there. The big 1litre bikes couldn’t use all their top-end power and were to heavy in the corners.

Did a good route a couple of weeks ago. 4passes in one ride :

    Garburn pass into kentmere,

along stile end into sadgill, up the valley onto gatesgarth pass,

down to hawswater then the carry up to the top of nan bield.

Descend back into Kentmere then back over garburn. Set off at 6:30am, got back to the car at 12:30pm. 21miles distance with 5500 feet of climbing. Got back knackerd but happy. 😀

Early days for me(only 6 months “gettoing”)but up to now I’m v. Impressed. Used to get a pinch pucture on everyride due to the low pressures I like to run. Can now run the same pressures and I haven’t had a flat yet.
