Just taken up the offer from British gas of free cwi and loft insulation for duel fuel customers. Came round to check the wall and was surprised that there wasn’t insulation already in there. Apparently all houses built since ’87 should buy law have some in.

How far can I push Arthur Daley?

I wouldn’t push him to far, he will send Terry round to ” sort you out” 😀

Gave up smoking the herb about six years ago. Wanted to give up smoking fags but carry on with smoking weed but found out I couldn’t do it so the herb had to go.

Thanks for the comment. After people said how handsome he is the wife decided to have a bash at showing him. After only his third show he qualified for cruffs 😮 . Were still amazed at how quickly he’s adapted to it. Not expecting to get anywhere, were just going to treat it as a day out. He’s the family pet and my biking buddy first, show dog second.

To say he’s one of the most laziest dog I’ve ever known is an understatement.

I needed a pair for on and off the bike so I went with the split jackets.

Came off my Suzuki RGV 250 at 85mph when I was 18. Bike was a complete write off, I only had a skin graft and a few bruises to put up with. Considering one of my friends came off only doing 25 and is now in a wheelchair I consider myself lucky.

Had a easton ea70 post snap on me commuting to work a few years ago. Going over a canal bridge and the next thing I know I’m sliding on my arse with a car narrowly missing me.

You mention eating cereal for breakfast. If by cereal you mean cornflakes or cocopops it’s just not going to cut it for race day. I’m no expert but I would of thought porridge or muesli would be far better.

What a top guy ! . Reminds me when I sometimes went out on the motorbikes with my uncle 20 years ago. Me on my RGV 250 and him on his Velocette. He didn’t hang about ethier. 95 now and still going strong ( although he doesn’t ride anymore)

The vid and the rainbow Bridge poem have got me into a right state. Our dog is only two and it’s a long way off yet but I sometimes think about when the day comes. 😥

When they were making the lotr movies I decided to read the books before seeing the films. Enjoyed the books more than the films tbh.

i really don’t think goretex would help very much, but maybe gaitors might…?

That’s what I was thinking of, like the spd winter boots with the neoprene sock which goes just past the ankle. Alright they might look a bit silly in some people’s eyes but as long as my feet are warm and dry I wouldn’t care. Were mountainbikers, not models on a Milan catwalk.

Of course I’m bloody joking!
Seriously, I’ve never been more nervouse than when starting a new class, TKD, Kickboxking, Karate or Judo. Even when I was a blackbelt TKD and new Kickboxer, I had ‘the nerves’ Each time I was made to feel welcome and in no way threatened. You’ll be fine. My second paragraph in the previous post is what’ll happen.

Got some am40’s and agree with other users about being surprisingly water resistant. Although they do eventually let in water. I do think the manufactures are missing a trick by not making a goretex flat shoe. They make spd ones afterall.
It’s well known that BJJ clubs will use anyone new to demonstrate moves on. When they are injured for 6 weeks, it’s no real loss to thier learning curve or to the club overall. If you go back, yuo’re keen and they might only inflict and overnight hospital stay on you.

I do hope you are joking because that would never happen at our club. When the instructor needs a ” bitch” to demonstrate a move he always uses the person next down in belt order who is there. To use a newbie to “smash up” as you imply is no good to anyone. The chances are he wouldn’t come back and more than likely tell other people not to go there aswell.

Just googled the club you are going to and it’s under the Gracie barra camp. Same as me, good choice 😉 To begin with I would imagine that they will teach you the fundamentals as in breakfalls, rolls, “shrimping” and some basic self defence. Also they will show you some of the basic ” finishing” moves as in armbar, kimora, omaplatta and rear naked choke. If it’s like the place I go to beginners are not allowed to roll until they reach a certain standard ( for us it’s not untill you get a couple of strips on your white belt.)As for advice, just go in there and enjoy it. I used to think I was pretty fit from all the mtbing, gym work and doing 4 years of traditional jappanese jui jitsu but bjj is an whole new world.

Sounds like you’ve got everything covered. If there’s kids in the household ask the RSPCA if the dog may have any issues with this. Taking him/her to dog school would be good in regards to the issues with other dogs. socialization takes time and effort but persevere and it will help the dog loads. Flyball will help keep it’s mind active aswell. At 12 months old it’s just coming into ” the teenage years” so it my get worse before it gets better. Once asked a springer owner if they ever fully calm down. His response ? ” oh yeh, about 1/2 an hour before they die of old age” 😉 Good luck and have fun.
the amount of times we have had to pull our dog off a bitch in season that’s running around out in the park. It’s an unwritten rule, you just don’t do it.
apparently many do not know this rule.
Responsible dog owners should do.

Good to hear your being a responsible dog owner as in walking her on the lead and not around known dog walking spots. Our dog is whole ( because we show him) and the amount of times we have had to pull our dog off a bitch in season that’s running around out in the park. It’s an unwritten rule, you just don’t do it.

Forgot to mention on my op. My nephew who I ride with also had the same problems as me with the Kevlar pads. Since swapping to ss sintered all is well.

Just put some red/kevlar in my m4’s and to be honest I’m not that impressed. Bedded them in as per the instructions ie 20 hard braking runs to get some heat in them then apply water on the pads. When I tried them again (while there is still some water on them) they were bloody sharp. But when they are dry the stopping power is significantly reduced. The sintered pads from hope are far better IMHO.

Worked on a building site as a labourer for six months during winter when I was eighteen. The site was right on the edge of the duddon estuary in Cumbria. To say that it was cold would be an understatement. One of the worst memories was one day when there was rain, sleet and hailstones. All the brickies ( who were treated like gods) had gone home having been rained off. I ( stupidly) thought i might be able to do the same.”right lads i’ve got a nice little job for you to do”. We then had to dig out a trench using only a pick and shovel that took me and another led all day to do when there was a jcb that could of done it in half an hour. When I asked about using the jcb the gaffer told us:” oh no, can’t do that, that would mean you’d have nothing else to do for the rest of the day”. The pay? £2 an hour (in 1992). Didn’t last much longer after that.

Two santa cruz models might be worth a look- the heckler or if you fancy a multi pivot bike the Butcher. Both have 30.9 seat tubes and come under the price of a orange 5 (£899 and £1350). Both have 150mm travel so might be a bit more than what your after but they may be something to consider.
Edit-Beaten to it. God I’m slow at typing
