Turkish get- ups as someone said above. But with a kettlebell. In fact any exercise using kettlebells is great for core strength. Plus you will have a body of Adonis in no time 😉

I would perfer not to but if they keep sanitising the bridleways I will be going down the same route as junkyard and grum.I.E. using footpaths. If I wanted to go on a “road” like Walna scar now is I would go to Llandegla.

Watched it last night and I’ll give it a few more episodes to buck it’s ideas up or else I’m out. Reminded me of Jurassic park crossed with lost. Heard it cost 4 million per episode. Don’t know how the hell they come to that figure not unless they bought all the plants from q gardens. Nevermind though, he second series of the walking dead starts at the end of the month. Looking forward to it.

If you are going to do Walna scar a slick tyre will now be fine. 😉
Seriously though I was in the same boat as in nip punctures so I went getto tubeless on a ardent 2.2 exo and it’s been ( touch wood) fine.

A work mate had the same problem. Both him and his wife both worked shifts so sleeping during the day with next doors dog barking all day was a nightmare for them both. Tried talking to the owners but it fell on deaf ears. In the end he let the dog out of the back yard ( which it spent most of it’s life in ) and put it into his car. He then drove 40 miles to another town and kicked the dog out. Seemed a bit ott but he said he had enough.

    Demo bikes.
Healthy discounts on products, services, MTB holidays if booked on the day.
Guided night ride with demo lights. Hope/Exposure?
Bike treasure hunt, trailquest type thing.
Pump track, timed laps with prizes. (would need to build one)
Beer tent. (+ambulance, see Druidh’s comment above)
    Camping.
Glentress or Innerleithen would be handy for me please.
Free skills coaching sessions would also be a good idea. Not sure who could do that though.

    If Carlsburg did demo days………

Also working on a helmet light bit I’m having a few problems with it. Can’t get any brighter than one candlepower and it’s not very waterproof. Plus if it’s windy it tends to go out. Runtimes isn’t bad depending what type of wax I use. 😀

Don’t know about units but I buy a bottle of vodka on Friday and that can last anything from the weekend to all week.

Keep a tube of bostick on you. If it starts playing up wave it in front of it’s eyes to show it who’s boss. ” anymore of that and this is what you’ll be mr Edd.”

I concur with i dave, ” diets” don’t work. A food lifestyle change does. ” oh goody I’ve reached my target weight, I’ll go back to how I used to eat.” Err no, that’s how you got so big in the first place. 🙄

Although nan bield is good, I prefer the decent from the top of gatesgarth down to Hawswater.

Agree with the tyre pressures. Got myself a pressure gauge the other week. Amazed how low my psi actually was ( 18 front, 21 rear). Put them up to 28 f and 32 r and felt awful. Just thought there was no grip at all. Settled for 22f, 25r and I’m happy.

Sounds very similar to my wife and I. She gradually put on weight and decided to have slimfast shakes because she saw the adds and believed the hype. Had one for brekkie and dinner and by teatime she would eat anything in sight because she was starving and couldn’t understand why she was still putting on weight. Tried to guide her to a more varied and healthier diet but she wouldn’t listen. The more I tried to help her the more she dug her heels in so I left her to it. In the end she came round to my offer of help and four months later she has lost three stone.

If your up for a bit of a challange how about 4 passes in one day?. Start off at ings just north of stavley up past dubs reservoir then up and over garbun pass. Drop down into Kentmere along high lane then take the bridleway that drops you into sadgill. Over the bridge then turn left up the valley to gatesgarth pass. Drop down to Hawswater then the big push/carry up Nan bield. Enjoy the long and technical decent down the Kentmere valley then on to low lane. Finally retrace your steps back over garbun pass. Only 21 miles long but with over 5500ft of climbing it should not be underestimated. Took me just over 6 hours to do about 3 months ago.

what the hell is BJ training?

It is in fact bjj training. Bjj stands for Brazilian jiu jitsu which is a type of martial art. So no it’s not what you’re thinking 😛

I’ve got a 3 x 10 set up on a full susser and on many rides will use the Granny ring and big ring. On some thing like the Garburn Pass in the Lakes I’d want the Granny for climbing up and then big ring for some of the fast sweeping decent sections.
I’d be too knackered not having Granny on the way up and pissed off spinning out on the decents. Am I missing some thing?

If you can spinout going down the otherside of Garburn pass your in the wrong job. You should be racing against mr Hart, Peat, Hill ect.

Given up on sealskins as said above the water runs down your leg, into the sock then slowly turns your feet into blocks of ice. Wear thick wool socks now in winter. Ok you still get wet but my feet are toasty.

I use the paramo fuera as well ( got the jacket version though ). It’s my ” go to ” jacket during the summer months when out on my bike when a full on waterproof just gets to hot. Proof it with some nikwax tx direct and it will stand a good shower. Also will stand a bit more hammer than a montane. Fallen off several times with no ill effect.

Just make sure you turn it off if your calling Into the pub or the bike shop on the way home. Remember, big brother is watching you 😯
