Went down the 20″ bmx method on some 12 month old kenda nevegals. The front went up fine but the back was to “loose” and wouldn’t inflate. Put on a maxxis ardent and all is well. A month old tyre should be fine I’d say.

Walna scar, Coniston in the lakes used to be good. Well, it was until they turned half of it into a pavement 😥 let’s just hope a few hard winters restores it back to its former glory.

On a bike if you came across mud on the road I’d be thinking that there is a strong possibility of a tractor round the corner and drive accordingly.

I am sure good/considerate/sensible drivers of cars will be equally aware of potential hazards as good/considerate/sensible riders of motorbikes. I know I would alter my driving accordingly if I was to see mud on the road and I would only really consider myself to be an average driver.

Sorry probably a bad example. I’ve started commuting into Preston on my push bike and I’m beginning to get those old feelings back of being more aware of traffic. I think for me it’s because that if I’m involved in a accident on a bike you have a good chance of hurting yourself quite badly. Where as the same accident in a car I would probably walk away unscathed due to being surrounded by half a ton of metal. There nothing like the thought of serious injury to sharpen up your senses.

I also think that you become a better car driver because you are more aware of your surroundings. On a bike if you came across mud on the road I’d be thinking that there is a strong possibility of a tractor round the corner and drive accordingly. In a car you are wrapped in in your own little world. Since I stopped riding bikes on the road I’ve become a lot more lazy and less attentive.
Unless its a cyclist, then I just cut them up and shout at them 😆

I’ve had a couple of close calls. First one was when I was 18 coming off my motorbike at 85mph with only skin grafts and a week in hospital to show for it. Bloody lucky when you looked at the state of the bike. Second one was earlier this year when I had my brain seziure. Can’t remember anything of it but at the time my wife couldn’t find a pulse.

Razer1548 I take it your post was aimed at me. So let me enlighten you :
Tjjj- 4 years – attained brown belt and 6 months into going for my black belt I gave it all up to start
Bjj- 3 years and counting. Blue belt, 3 stripes. Why did I give up Tjjj ? Got a bit disillusioned with the whole grading system of it. My sensi was putting people through belt gradings who I didn’t think we’re ready ( myself included I hasten to add) just so he could get £ 25 pp. Bjj is completely different with regards to this as in there is no grading, the instructor will only give you your next belt if he thinks you are ready. No money is involved in the promotion. Sorry to the op about going off topic.

Used to do traditional jiu jitsu for three years but moved onto Brazilian jiu jitsu 2-3 years ago and still doing it now. If all you wanted to learn was self defence then between the two IMO traditional would be better. However if it was a one to one situation and there was no other way bar fighting I would say my bjj training would certainly help me out. But as others have said its better to not get into that situation in the first place if you can.

Went ghetto earlier this year on my 5.1’s using the 20″ tube method. The maxxis ardent went up fine with a air compressor. Had a couple of burping moments but thats because I probably run to low a pressure. However IMO the advantages for out weigh the disadvantages.

I think his sentiment was a little strong…i happen to like my life as it is now but there is a certain ‘something’ missing….it was exciting being part of a scene back then, we were on the fringes of society, the music and clothes and drugs were our secret, the thrill of friday arriving and just knowing that the weekend was going to be epic….thats what is missing from my life now and sadly i’ll never get that back….i like my job, i have good health and enjoy plenty of healthy, harmless hobbies….but those evenings in the 90s spent in the car with 4 or 5 mates driving hours to an event were special, music playing, flyers laying around the car, bags of speed being passed around, phone calls to mates from other parts of the country, heart pounding as we queued to get in, how the bass would hit you, the tingles down your neck as the pills kicked in, lasers and strobes….truly great days and i will treasure the memories and the music forever.

Could not put it better myself. Queuing out side the empire at morecambe, bowlers and the hacienda in manchester, cream in Liverpool, angels in Burnley, back to basics in Leeds to name just a few. Ahh happy hazy days 8)

I was once told that all the scare mongering in the 70’s about eggs being bad for you came about after research which was funded by Kelloggs 😉 Don’t know if this is true but it would tie in with everyone stoping “going to work on a egg” to the boom in cereal breakfasts.

That’s a cracking ride, your fitness obviously hasn’t suffered too much!
Good luck, nice to hear a good news story…
    POSTED 43 SECONDS AGO # REPORT-POST

Tbh I’ve done one or two short road rides in the past month to try and get my fitness back up. Stopping at home doing nothing was driving me crackers ESP since I’ve not had another incident since the first one.

    Would it fit the mark1?
And there must be a downside or SC would have done it in the first place – does it affect pedaling?

Afaik the mark 2 was designed to be used with a air shock. It improved it’s climbing but it lost some of its descending capabilities. The push link turns it back to a more descending bias. As said above it still pedals well if you sit down and spin rather than stand and mash. It’s only designed around the coil shock though. Plenty of take about it here :

Sat down to watch Rambo one night recently with the OH who had never seen it.
    “whats it about” she asked.
“An ex Vietnam vet” I said
” why did American vets have to go to Vietnam, is there a lot of animals there?”

How about a Rhodesian ridgeback? As long as they get an hour/hour and a half exercise a day ( when fully grown) they mostly sleep the rest of the time. Sorry for the cut and paste

The Rhodesian Ridgeback actually developed in South Africa, not Zimbabwe.  Beginning in the 16th century, Mastiffs, Bloodhounds and Terriers emigrated with European settlers and mated with half-wild native hunting dogs in their new homes.  Difficult conditions selected only the strongest, bravest and most heat-tolerant dogs for survival.  In small packs, Ridgebacks can successfully hunt lions. A strip of hair across the back grows in the opposite direction of the golden-red coat and forms the distinct ridge.  As pets today, the dogs require space and exercise, but display quiet dispositions and a fondness for children.
    Here’s our boy, Rogue:

Forgot to mention the RGV was the last bike I had. This is my full bike history:
My first bike when I was 9yr old Yamaha ty 80

Outgrew it and got this, a montessa Cota 242

Very unreliable so I saved up and got a Yamaha ty250 monoshock

When I turned 16 I sold the yam and bought my first road bike, a Suzuki ts50x. Big bore kit on it so it was good for 55mph.

Traded it in at 17 to buy a Yamaha TZR 125. Deristricted to could just about manage a ton.

Passed my test and got my RGV that I posted earlier.

Not mine but had one just like this in ’91. Wrote it off when I crashed it at 85mph. Bikes are great until you come off them 😀

John Squire was rumoured to live around these parts (Clitheroe/Ribble Valley/Forest of Bowland)concentrating on art rather than music, but I’ve never seen him. He is (was?) also a keen mountain biker as I remember they had to cancel a few gigs (mid 90s?) due to him breaking a collar bone in an accident.

Did hear he was going out with a lass from Lancaster a few years ago so that would tie in with living around the Forrest of bowland. As for influenceing bands noel Gallagher watched them at spike island and was quoted as saying that he now knew what he wanted to do with his life………(allegedly)
