The heads are flush with the frame, so a dremel probably wouldn’t work. Would something like this be suitable: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toolzone-Piece-Damaged-Remover-storage-x/dp/B009R1G3M2

The hanger is bent. I’m replacing that. Missed a word in my first post – sorry!

Contigo. Have left mine upside down in a pannier before and it didn’t leak at all. Keeps drinks very hot too, which can be annoying if you’re thirsty!

Apologies if this has been asked, but this thread is massive!

Tried TR last night and really enjoyed it so I’m looking at the sweet spot base plans. I’d really like to do a mid volume one, but as I’m racing cross through the winter I don’t want to hamper my performance too much.

I’m only really racing cx for fun, my main objective is to get my 3rd cat road licence this season and do well in some races. However, I’d still like to go well in the cx races. Question is, can you mix and match low/mid/high plans depending on what I’m doing that specific week – e.g. week 1 low wk 2 high wk 3 low etc.?

    Thank you

I’m getting a new turbo soon (Kickr) and was wondering if it’s useful to have a cadence sensor for TR or not.

This is a brilliant deal, but when the offer was on previously the seller cancelled saying they didn’t actually have stock. I’ve now received an email stating:

xxsellers namexxx has cancelled the postage label for the reason below:

    Label Did Not Print

Your package will no longer be sent using PayPal Postage with Royal Mail.

Sounds like some of the sellers are losing out so cancelling orders. Anyone else had this problem?

I bought mine second hand. When the screen froze and it wouldn’t switch back on I gave them a call and they swapped it out. I told them I bought it second hand and they were ok with that.

It helped that the device hadn’t been registered before, so I could register it in my name. Although I didn’t have proof of purchase it was a new model and the unit had been manufactured less than a year prior.

I found the whole returns process excellent.

I’ve got the Atera Strada DL which is excellent, but a word of warning.

A couple of weeks ago it was loaded with 3 bikes and I slid it back to get in the boot. When trying to slid it forwards to lock into position it wasn’t engaging the lock mechanism. I gave it a couple more goes and I thought it had locked as the green button had popped up. However, I didn’t realise that it hadn’t properly engaged and the unit slid back whilst we were driving, scraping down the road for a short time. Luckily no harm done but it was a bit scary. Apparently this is fairly common. When I called roof box (who were excellent) they offered to swap the unit for the Strada Sport which tilts instead of sliding. If you don’t have a large boot to open then this is the model I would go for.

Be careful with this Stada DL owners. Make sure the green button has fully popped up with locking it back into place!

We’re about to do our bathroom up and have decided on a digital shower with pump like this: http://bit.ly/1MbcZc4

It’s expensive but looks like it will be worth it.

Edit – you get a cool remote control that you can operate up to 10 metres from the shower. It’ll turn itself on, heat up to the selected temperature and then switch off so it’s at the right temp when you get under it.

Thanks for that. I’ll be looking at roughly 30/40 miles or 4-5 hours. I’ll be downloading/creating a gpx file to load on to my Garmin, if anyone has any to share, or know where I can find some online that’d be great.

It shows the fastest rider that you follow too. So you can either race against your pb, the KOM, your fastest friend for that segment, or you can set a goal via Strava.

Not sure what happens if your following a route. If anyone can report back it’d be appreciated.

You need to authorise Strava from within Garmin Connect. I did this on my PC. If it’s not working try logging in and out of both Garmin and Strava.

When it works the segments icon on the garmin is replaced by the strava logo.

ant – yes you can turn off individual segments from the device. I’m not sure what happens with overlapping segments yet. I guess it will continue with the current segment and ignore others until you’ve finished the segment you’re on. Not 100% about this though.

Used it this morning on my Edge 1000. Works really well and so easy to load segments to the device. All you do is star a segment in Strava and it almost instantaneously loads to the Garmin. You obviously need to be on wifi though. Well worth the money for a premium account IMO

    edit: more info here: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2015/07/introduce-segments-series.html

You could have a look for Charlie’s gravel ride. A bit easier but a far nicer route than SDW IMO. Not too challenging to do in a day either as its a loop.

Hydrogen is still a fossil fuel and is nowhere near as safe or efficient as electricity. Also you’d need to fill up at a station rather than at home.

Molgrips – you seem good at pointing out the negatives of EVs but what’s the alternative? Carry on burning oil and destroying the environment? There are challenges to be overcome with electric cars, but if Elon Musk can put rockets in space and win contracts from NASA I have trust that he’s the man to do it. The US already has a vast number of charging points and they’re coming to the UK too. For too long we’ve been investing in the wrong technology that’s unsustainable and dirty. The example of the Ford Ecoboost above is the culmination of over 100 years of refinement. Teslas have only been around for a few years and they already blow most cars out of the water, so with a more mature charging infrastructure just think what’s possible. And of course the automotive industry is trying to protect it’s own interests and profit, that’s normal for big business.

Tesla are doijg some amazing things. The game changer is supposed to be coming in 2017 when Tesla launch their affordable model 3 which is supposed to be around $35,000 (about £30k) with a 200 mile range. Taking into account no fuel bills a very little maintenance costs it could shake things up a bit.

Yes they’re the new ones. Very comfortable off the bike so far with the Vibram soles. They look really nice too, I’ve had a few comments about them so far.

The Tubus Airy is expensive but it’s impressively sturdy and light. I got mine from Rose in Germany which was far cheaper than I could find it in the UK. You won’t fit much on the top though as it’s very narrow. And although the ortleib back roller panniers aren’t supposed to fit, they do

is there space to fit a full-length rear mudguard?

I’ve got SKS Longboards on mine. The front mech does just touch but I’ve not found it to affect the shifting at all.

I’m doing the 100 too. Did anyone do it last year? Is it mainly gravel? Trying to decide what tyres to use.
