I hope so, I’ve got a 17.5 inch (Medium) race about to go up for sale!

Really don’t understand why Sam doesn’t send a weekly email out. Even if it said little more than ‘no news, but I’ve not forgotten about you”, I’m sure people would feel better.

I’m still waiting on the kickstarter to be launched for the new kite, which Sam originally told me would be launched last April!

Sadly I can wait no longer and have bought something else. Shame, really fancied a singular.

“Tempted to buy a second one at this price so I can have one for running and one for cycling though! “

Good to see someone fighting the good fight against mindless consumerism.

You will lose weight. Your stomach will be smaller than before and swallowing will be tricky.

This only lasts a short time though. I was eating normally within a month.

Oh, and an alkaline diet (whatever that would involve) wouldn’t help. It would make things about a gazillion times worse.

If you are bad enough to be considered for a (presumably laproscopic) nissen fundoplication, no alkaline diet or any other wonderful forum advice will help.

I got a laproscopic nissen fundoplication. It changed my life overnight. No more reflux. Had it done about 4 years ago.

I was in a fair bit of discomfort the night after the op but it’s worth it. Was out of hospital the day after and back on the bike two weeks later – gently though.

However – I made sure I was in really, really good shape before the op to quicken my recovery. My brother had the same op when he was out of shape and his recovery took much longer.

    Any questions, fire away.

In other news, it really is a great bike.

I have recently (3 weeks) taken delivery of my own Planet X XLS. Size Medium.

I am 5’10 with clown feet – size 11, so if anyone is going to get toe overlap, it’s me.

On the XLS, like all my bikes, I do get toe overlap. However, after my toe hitting the tyre on the first ride, not hit it again in the subsequent 60 miles. This is with no conscious effort to adapt riding style. Must just be doing it sub consciously.

I may have a Genesis Fortitude Race for sale. Size medium. Used twice. Looking for 550.

Eh? That’s a perfect;y acceptable colour, why be an eyesore on the hills (unless you’re skiing, in which case it seems to be de rigeur).

Because if mountain rescue need to find you in the hills, wearing a jacked the same color as the rocks that surround you will make things very bloody difficult.

    Thats why.

Kcr – can we see some pics of the rust? Have you contacted Genesis?

It’s only confusing if you are either Hard of Understanding or too lazy to read the terms and conditions.

at 1k, you pay 7% of the value. Your agreement continues for 3 years at a cost of £0 per month for tax reasons. You are free from the moment you pay the 7% to get a new cyclescheme bike.

Rather than look for a bike to solve the issues you are having (you mention confidence), I think a skills course would be a wise thing for you to do.

You don’t need an amazing bike to feel confidence on red and blue trails. You need to learn to ride.

Don’t think the XLS will take proper mudguards and if you consider commuting without proper mudguards, you are as mad as a bag of very mad spaniels.

Yeah Brant – how dare you create an off road bike that is not perfect on road as well. Damn you and your evil schemes.

Newsflash guys – if you want a bike that is great on the road, buy a road bike.

The Sora equipped Equilibrium is available for well under 1000. It’s an excellent bike and will take up to 28c tyres I think. I run mine with 25c tyres and full guards no problems. Looks to be plenty of clearance left.

The actual, proper answer is this:

Higher octane fuels will indeed make a difference, but only if the engne has knock sensors fitted. Knock sensors allow the fueling and the detonation to be changed to make use of the higher octane fuel.

Most engines with Turbos have Knock sensors. If you have, for example, a Subaru Impreza WRX, then yes the higher octane fuel will allow the engine to generate more power.

If you have a 1.2 naturally aspirated Clio or similar, forget it.

You should get a wee dog suit made for it then take it for a walk on a lead round the streets. You could make a fortune by betting people you could prove your dog was a spider. Lure them into betting a gazillion pounds then simply remove the dog suit before making good your escape.

I’m sorry but a University that describes Paisley as:

    Paisley – Urban, Contemporary, Dynamic

    cannot be taken seriously! “

I’m sorry – any moron that thinks an evidence based report is somehow overridden by their personal opinion of something written on the web cannot be taken seriously.

Of all the stuff I have ordered from them, the only issue I have is the stuff actually arrives on my doorstop before I get the email confirming dispatch!

Will happily continue using them. How many other companies would have a rep like Brant who comes onto the forum to help people?

Given that this is a winter build, have you treated the frame with anything to prevent corrosion?

Got to admire someone who can look at something perfectly functional, like a geared bike and thinks to themselves “how can I make a totally shit version of that”

And then they go and do it.

I have one of the early prototype ones. I got a medium. Plenty big enough for my road bike.

I carry a handfull of gels in it and some energy bars.

You could easily fit in 4 or 5 gels +phone into the medium.

My mate has the large. It’s huge. He mounts it between seat and top tube.

And we would opt out of Euro, despite wanting to be a new member of the EU

And we would keep £ Sterling, although that is not our decision to make

Oh, we would also become members of NATO, despite being Anti-nuclear.

    I sure I could go on….
    – See more at: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/raise-the-drawbridge-drop-the-portcullis-scotlandexpress-content#sthash.71lJuTZO.dpuf

Oh, please do go on. To address the points so far:

EU – actually adopting the Euro is not a requirement. Saying that it will be adopted at some point in future, maybe, is all that is required. no country can be forced to adopt it. See Sweden. Besides, this only comes into play if you think that Scotland would have to rejoin as a new member, which it would probably not.

Sterling – No one can stop a country using any currency they choose. So yes, actually it is our decision to make.

Nato – Yes we could become members of NATO while being anti-nuclear. Of 28 member states, a grand total of 3 have nuclear weapons. Besides, one of the top experts in NATO this week – a Hungarian lady whose name escapes me – confirmed Scotland’s anti-nuclear stance would not be a problem.

    Do keep up Frank.

wwaswas – each to their own, but it seems a remarkable way of separating fools from money. I have yet to see a club time trial that costs £90.

Seems that what your £90 gets you is:

1: Some left over food of questionable quality
2: The company of many people unable to handle a bike properly
3: The opportunity not to use a map
4: Open roads with drivers annoyed at passing their 3000th cyclist of the day

    birney29

Why are people willing to pay £90 to ride on roads they could ride on at anytime, for free?

Here is the point of the post – Guy has bike nicked. Guy’s mate asks fellow cyclists to keep an eye out for very distinctive bike or parts.

I was not really expecting a couple of guys who have obviously seen one more episode of Columbo than was good for them to determine all the facts of the case from a single post and accuse someone – publically – of insurance fraud.

If something like this happens to you, and it could, you would expect a better response.
