Junkyard; speed is a factor in a third of all crashes

The 1/3 figure is a bit of a con because it includes crashes caused by driving too fast for the conditions but within the speed limit. In those situations the driver wouldn't have triggered a camera. The % of accidents caused by speeding is much lower.

'Swindon switched off all its fixed speed cameras a year ago, saying they weren't an effective tool in cutting road traffic accidents as only 6% were caused by people speeding'

Yup – it does from mine – and every 3 mins – as quick as driving as well and no parking issues.

Lucky you. I live 5 miles from the city centre. Mon-Sat buses are hourly, last bus home is 10:20pm. On Sun buses come along every 2-1/2 hours.

There's also a new(ish) track on the south side of the loch not shown on the OS map.

I did slip on a discarded fag packet in the kitchen earlier. Knocked over a stack of empty lager cans.

That's what you get for straying into staff territory, though quite why you keep your conceptual art installation there is beyond me.

Happy with Tourances here (on 1150GS). Grippy enough and great mileage.

I use a P7 torch on the bars. Would have thought it was a bit hefty for a helmet light?
Got a TR801, same as Rob, but went for the single mode version. The DX site showed it with an orange peel reflector but mine came with a smooth one. Pretty narrow spot with amazing range for its size.

I've had a look, and all the 'normal' (Not performance) Focuses have rear drums, the estates have discs.

    I've got a 57-plate 1.8 diesel hatch … with disks all round.

DX MTE P7 on the bars – excellent, though had to re-solder a dodgy connection.
Thought about another one as a headlight but bought a DX TR-801 instead as it's much smaller and lighter than the P7. Surprised how bright it is but may swap the smooth reflector for an orange peel one.

I'm Scottish. And I'm British. I hate all this SNP independence crap – we are part of the UK and I for one think Salmond should sod off…

    GrahamS
    Tick!
Always described myself as such. European third, Earthling fourth.
If a form says "Nationality" I always put Scottish, I suspect most pancakes do likewise.
I sincerely hope that we do get a referendum on independence and that the vote is to maintain the union. Purely in the hope that Salmond will stop harping on about how all Scots want independence.
No we don't thanks Alex. Actually a significant number think it would be a bad idea or at least have some major concerns.

That about sums it up for me too.

Now the murdering bxstxrd is a national hero now he is back in his home country! FFS! How insensitive is that? Assuming he is innocent as he proclaims, wouldn't he return home quietly and not court public adulation?

He's not in a position to control how others react to his release.

My thoughts are with the victims and their families!

Jim Swire, whose daughter was on the flight, seems convinced al-Megrahi is innocent …

Never ridden a telever BMW but one of the criticisms I often hear is a lack of feeling connected to,, and receiving feedback from the front tyre, expecially during breaking- possibly as riders have become programmed to associate fork dive with breaking force and front tyre grip?

I've got an 1150GS. You just have to trust it and get used to it. Once you do it's great. You can brake late into corners and it stays on-line with no dive unlike my CBR600 which tries to straighten up at the slightest touch of front brake.
How much of that is down to telelever vs telescopic forks or 19" vs 17" front wheels I dunno.
