Thinking about doing one soon. Do you have to wear a helmet? I usually do but my mate never does. Don’t want to get turned away on the day.

RE: the insurance against high excess – Is that insurance to cover the excess? Does it mean that instead of putting your CC to them you can habd them the insurance policy instead?

    http://www.carhireexcess.com/faqsUK.asp
The policy operates on a pay and reclaim basis, the hire car company would have already held an amount on your credit card to cover their excess. This amount would be deducted from you in the event of an accident in the vehicle you are hiring from them.
It is this amount that will be reimbursed by carhireexcess.com insurers.

Austria; vignette required for mways, about 6 quid for 10 days. Additional charges for some tunnels and passes.

Switz; vignette required for mways, about 27 quid for a year. Meant to be stuck on your windscreen but just hold it in place with your tax disc holder then sell it on for 10-15 quid

99% of mtbing and 50% of road rides are done solo. It’s good to have company on the road, chatting away as the miles pass :-)

As DickBarton says, it’s the power line. What a friggin mess. Think it’s going over the Corrieyairack then A9, Tummel Bridge, Coshieville, Loch Freuchie and Sma Glen :(

My Dad bought it new in Dec 77 so not sure if it’s a 77 or 78 (doubt there’s much difference). He used it for a while then I rode my first trial on it 79 :-) It’s good to still have it around.

The toilets in our place were refurbished recently, all very nice but when you reach for the bog roll you’re arm is too close to the sensor and it triggers the auto flush 8O

I upgraded to Android 2.2 and it became agonisingly slow when running some apps, including Google Maps. Solved by rooting and installing sysctl config.

Similar problems here after the 2.2 upgrade. Rooting and installing Setvsel sorted it.

My cousin’s husband has used the same bike for about the last 10 SSDTs. I think he’s happy to give up some competitiveness for simplicity and reliability.
