I’ve got a 2013 Defy with 622-14 rims. It came with 23mm tyres and since they wore out I’ve used 25s and now thinking of trying 28s. The charts I’ve seen say 28s should be ok on that rim width but I’m wondering if squeezing the tyre will make it taller and it’ll not leave enough clearance from the frame. What clearance is acceptable?

That’s in the same category as replacing a bike with a new one that’s the same colour. Fair game IMO

Friend tried that replacing a Suzuki GSX600F with a GSX-R600. His wife twigged and he ended up without a bike.

As mentioned above, watch the euro emissions standards.

“Owners of vehicles that don’t meet the following emissions standards have to pay the ULEZ charge:

Cars: Euro 6 emission standards for diesels and Euro 4 emission standards for petrol-powered cars.

Petrol cars that meet the ULEZ standards are generally those registered with the DVLA after 2005, although cars that meet the standards have been available since 2001.

Diesel cars that meet the standards are generally those registered with the DVLA after September 2015.”

There was a report at the weekend that tne cost per person for Rwanda was greater than the cost of housing them here, but i can’t find it now.

I saw that. I think the figure was £169,000

55mph/88kph coming south from Cairnwell (Glenshee), same place as Trailrat and Fasthaggis

Managed 44mph/70kph offroad last weekend though to be honest the track was like a motorway.

I think the pass will be fine, it’s been quite warm over that way this week.
I’d be more concerned about cold and wind this weekend.

    Such a loyal individual …

“Extraordinarily, Oakeshott handed the entire archive of Hancock’s messages to the Daily Telegraph despite being paid a rumoured six-figure salary by Rupert Murdoch’s News UK to be a pundit on its struggling TalkTV channel.

Staff at the Sun and the Times have been left fuming that they are now trying to follow up a story given to a rival newspaper by one of their own employees – while TalkTV has missed out on a scoop that could have helped it in its ratings battle with GB News.”

    RSPCA …
Cats are protected by law and are free to roam meaning they might go into other people’s gardens or
allotments. It is understood that some may wish to deter other people’s cats from those areas.

In attempting to prevent cats from entering a garden or an allotment it is important to make sure
that any deterrent methods used are nonharmful and don’t cause pain, suffering, injury or distress.
Causing unnecessary suffering to a cat is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (AWA). It
may also be an offence to put down snares, poison or an unlicensed deterrent. The AWA also prohibits
poisoning protected animals. The maximum penalty for anyone found guilty of an offence under the AWA
is up to 6 months imprisonment and/or a £20,000 fine.

Some suggestions which could help you are: https://www.rspca.org.uk/documents/1494939/7712578/CAT_adviceondeterringcats.pdf

My only bike is an Anthem X 26er so yours is very modern

I wish it had a slacker head angle, but it’s a very capable bike (within reason)

I still have my 26er but not used it for quite a while. Head angle is something daft like 71 deg

Small, 70s, 2 bed semi-detached bungalow using a Nest thermostat set to 16c overnight and 18-20c during the day/evening. All rads fully on.

    WFH 5 days a week.

Last monthly gas bill was £80, last monthly elec bill was £23

House doesn’t hold heat well and could do with better loft insulation.

I like that it wouldn’t take up much space but dunno how effective it would be.
