I had a flying visit to Lewis and Harris about 10 years ago. Left home near Dundee at 6:30am, into Ullapool for 9:30 and caught the next ferry. Sorted B+B in Stornoway then went for a ride round Lewis to see the sights. Next day went down to Harris for a nosey then caught the 4pm ferry to Uig and home by 9:30.

A current tax disc must be displayed on the vehicle it was bought for. If you buy a new tax disc before your current tax disc expires, you should not display the new one until the old one has expired. The new tax disc is only valid from the first day of the month you have taxed from. The maximum penalty for failure to display a current tax disc is £200.

You could probably get a taxi at Pontresina station to the funicular, its only a couple of miles.

Haven’t been to the inn for a while but it always looks busy so they must be doing something right.

Not 100% sure, I’ve done the Albula pass and the Bernina pass but not the bit between. I *think* the stop you want is on the Samedan/Pontresina line not St.Moritz/Pontresina which is the other side of the river.

Not really, it just looks such hard work. No nephews or nieces but have a cousin who is 14 years younger than me. Used to take him mtbing and later on toured europe on the motorbike. Only possible regret is that cos I’m an only child my Mum will never be a grandma, though she’s never mentioned it.
