Your sparky should be able to advise. Lighting designers are gonna be pricey and to be honest not going to do you many favours. Work out what type of effect you are trying to achieve find some pics .

And then there was light! Did you connect the earth? It’s pretty important.

So you re wondering what the bare copper wire is? That’s the earth you need to put some green and yellow sleeving on it and attach it it th earth terminal of your light. Which maybe a small metal lug on the bracket or the light. If your light has a sticker on it with 2 squares , one inside the other , it is double insulated and does not require an earth to be fitted.

Looks a bit odd. That’s a single and earth . Has the other cable got 3 cores in it , brown, blue and unsheathed earth? Bear in mind you may have a permenent live and a switched live there.

One thing to remember with mma is that it is basically a sport. So you train to get better at the fight aspect as a sport. So beating the other person in the ring/ cage. As it’s a sport however there are rules so if it self defense you’re after there are more effective styles, krav magra for example. As far as the mental / spiritual side there is some. The confidence , stress relief, adrenalin boosts and ability to keep a clear head when put under pressure are all mental gains . I run a kung fu school and also teach mma and kickboxing and would say that any martial art training will help with your biking due to the cv gains and also improving your core strenght. Which ever class you go to ask questions you’ll soon tell by the answers if it’s a good school or not. Anyone who answers a question with because I say so is not a good teacher. Good luck with finding the right school.

I think I shouldn’t have mentioned the pub bit. Think of it as more of an everyday bike. The thing is do you over pay for these ss bikes or is the quality in them .

Ok fair point. I suppose my question is are these bikes actually good value for money or are they just cashing in on the whole urban cyclist trend. The vitus seems ok for the money. The example of the ramin was just to show how much more seemed to be on offer for similar money .

I ve been looking for the same thing. The ones I ve looked at are,

    Vitus dee 29
    Bombtrack arise
    Merlin single malt
    Pinnacle ramin

Bombtrack and pinnacle are a bit over budget but look nice . The other two are both single speeds . Just a few more options for you.

Electric guitar, something like a fender strat. Gives you something to do when you can’t get out to ride.

Genesis ones are a it over budget. Never heard of islabikes but I ll take a look. I did look at at the long termer review but I need to upgrade to premier status to read it.

Qwerty , is there anything you want to upgrade on it. Normally at that price point there’s a corner cut somewhere.

the reason i said look at gymnasts is because pound for pound their strength is comparable to any athlete if not better, male or female, plus they combine endurance, explosive strength and flexibility. i just thought something along those lines as a training plan would be great for the OP

well to start with if they are low enough to the floor (abot 2 ft ish ) try doing standard press ups with your feet on the floor. if that is easy place your feet on a swiss ball. from the same press up position you can try extending your arms out to a T position and back in ( very hard ). then if you turn round lay on the floor you can do pull ups ( like a reverse press up) . also try triceps dips and from a similar position leg raises

have you got any Olympic rings at your gym . they are always a good shock to the system and build incredible pound for pound strength.just look at gymnasts

sounds like you already doing a lot of the things i would recommend. so the thing to change is the tempo. HIT training sounds like the way to go . its where you do high intensity exersises for a short period. for example burpees , box jumps, shuttle sprints maybe some boxing, slip some of these into your current program, between exersises and vary them to keep your body guessing.

dont know what you do already but i would suggest plyometrics and body weight sessions.

i ve been doing kung fu and also kickboxing for several years. kick boxing is fine and easy to pick up the basics plus it ll send your fitness levels through the roof. it ll also help condition you to throw and take punches which would help however it is still a sport so what you are learning is still confined by rules and the fact you have gloves on so cant grab. in my kung fu system we have a specific section on dealing with multiple attackers.

rule 1 ; RUN AWAY FAST (in the opposite direction)
rule 2 ; DISTRACT AND RUN AWAY ( SHOUT, SCREAM, FOAM AT THE MOUTH)
rule 3 ; EVEN THE ODDS ( look around see if there’s anything you can use to your advantage, like say a forsale sign. then pick it up swing it at them and run away.)

if you are cornered and have to go past them to get away.
rule 4 ; TAKE THE ONES ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE GROUP ONCE PAST THEM RUN AWAY ( try not to turn your back on , or go between any of them.)

i ve nearly finished the mag and have to say i m happy with most of it.there are always going to be bits you like , bits that you ve read before( just tweeked slightly)and then the fluff to fill the pages. but they make a fairly good job of it. it must be hard to find new ways of saying, " we got a bike of some sort and rode it in the mud somewhere.you should try it, it`s fun. "

i think he is referring to eye start focusing. so as soon as you look through the view finder it starts focusing with out the need to half press .dont think this is the same on the other 2.

if possible i would always recommend going into the store to try before you buy. the feel of the guitar is a very individual thing and some will suit you better than others.there are some better for say people with larger hands for example.as far as the best of the bunch you ve mentioned you re not gonna go far wrong with any of them. me personally would probably pick the yamaha.

lots of old ruined windmills along the Acle straight (the road heading towards Great Yarmouth). hunstanton is one of the only Norfolk coast resorts that almost faces west so you can get sunset shots into the sea. plus there are reddish clay cliffs there so they light up nice in the evening light.of course there are loads of places on the broads

dougal – she ( fudge ) is 2 yrs old now and has just about stopped being a puppy. she`s got quite a mild temperament .although she is always ready to play and has to have at least one scatty fit a day , which normally entails 3/4 high speed laps of the dinning room table.i think either the lab or the poodle bit helped.

i went for a vintage seamaster, 1951. i love it to bits. i think if you want a nice watch and can afford it then why not.i do think the vintage route offers a bit more protection if you change your mind as you shouldn`t lose out if you re sell.
