Hi, I’m currently selling an XTC advanced 27.5 unused 2016 model frame, custom build.
I’ve got it on here and on eBay.
Awesome race bike, super quick and snappy, much faster for me than my 29er.
Probably helps that it’s super light.

Mainly for racing, or summer riding over cannock chase.

Slackman99 – thanks for the reply, but I’m after 27.5″.

I’m not sure but I suppose commuting would be a bit less pressure, where we ride it’s not massively hilly but there are some sharp climbs here and there.

Would you be comfortable with no tugs on a SS MTB ridden purely off road?

What do you mean by cheap?
I’ve tried SRAM, Shimano, KMC, I think the half link was Gussett.

    Is there one you recommend?

Yep, happened to me too, probably less than 12 months old. Drive side just fell off. Warranty replaced but will be going XT if it happens again.

Some people really have got issues!!!!

I thought this would be a straightforward question

I mentioned it was SS because many people claim bar ends are a must to help with the leverage along with the wide bars!!

Anyone know where I can get some ESI Chunky’s from the UK. I can only find hem from the states?

Anyone find not having bar ends an issue when it comes to the hills?

Anyone tried the Bonty 29-4’s in 2.3 width.

I’ve had a change of heart. Taking the advice form the people on here and others. I think with it being fully rigid i will need a bit more volume.

Therefore I am currently going to go with the Bontrager 29-4. 2.3’s. But I will probably change my mind again before I actually buy them??

Your thoughts/opinions on these are welcome.

    What about the tyres????

I am going to give the Bontrager 29-3 tyres a blast. 2.2 front, 2.0 rear.

Gotta be worth a try and if I don’t get on with them I will make use of Bontys customer satisfaction guarantee and get my cash back.

Just google’d the WTB Bronson’s and they sound good from what I can see. Also noticed the Wolverines get a good review. Anyone tried them?

Thanks to everyone so far for their opinions/advice, really appreciate it.

    Too much choice…..

If you didn’t have the luxury of changing tyres for each season, what would you fit for all year round Cannock Chase riding. Like many on here I ride more natural trails than the dog or monkey etc, but do use it to link around the Chase some times.

    I suppose the ultimate question…

What about Bonti 29-3’s. Anyone tried these?

Thanks, what sizes are you running, and what do you think to the RR’s front and rear for all year?

The deal is done I’m having them – thanks for all your advice.

£150, new pads and giving me the old ones (still got plenty left in them) and cleaning them up and bleeding them like new. Also thrown in matching (colour) hope skewer too. Recently had new rotors for them too.

They are mint condition and only been used a handful of times since the bike was built up because he has the priveledge of using the shops demo bikes whenever he wants.

    Bargain – cheap as chips!!

    What’s the verdict then?

Should I get them but try and knock him down to say £120 or get him to put new pads in and bleed them up like new and pay the £150?

He works in a bike shop so ths wouldn’t be a problem for him.

Nice one thanks for the advice. I might see if I can nock him down a bit. I was thinking about £100 – £120 max. I ride xc and these are planned to go on a single speed I’m building up. I weigh about 12 stone kitted up, do you think I should go for some more powerful brakes?

Do you have any links to them. Also is it a problem getting hold of 102 mm chain rings. I can only find middle burn ones?

TOP MAN…. I had not heard of these before.

Just googled them but it appears they are not that easily sourced.

Any ideas where is best to buy them from. Jeff Jones site is currently under modification so cant see a product list.

Thanks all, I have matching polished – White Industries, Chainset, Crank, Square Taper BB, Freewheel and Hubs. Hence why I was hoping to keep it all.

My next plan is to keep the hubs, build onto some new rims (moving to 29er from 26) with the existing freewheel but change the sprocket (which is possible with the WI freewheel as its all servicable and changeable), sell the chainset, crank, BB. Then either try and find a nice polished chainset or just a nice good one.

Thanks for your help. I suppose changing the hubs is a bit daft, just me being picky I suppose as it all matches at the minute

Seen some Spinergy wheels on the web, are they any good. I ride xc single speed.

If I can’t use my existing crank, what single speed specific crank/chain set would you suggest for the BB92 setup?

Check out magic shines 4led light. A good light for the money, very similar to the hope R4. You can get them off eBay.

That’s what I mean, surely some manufacturers have thought of this. I will have to keep searching the tinternet.

Thanks, I have seen bb30 to BSA adaptors, there must be one for the BB92 somewhere, it seems such a waste to have to get rid of the chain set. It matches my hubs, so new chain set will mean new wheels.

Oh well I suppose someone will be the lucky buyer of all my white industries kit
