If you’re at all into Fantasy then the First Law trilogy would eat your long journies for breakfast running at 70ish hours. Set in the First Law world but a separate story I recommend “Best Served Cold”, 26 hours. His fantasy is more gritty and funny than most in the oeuvre. Bit blokey though.

In terms of crime/thrillers I really like the “Roy Grace” series written by Peter James, there are 12 of them and they’re around 12 hours long.

I’d think very seriously about a built in unit

Been there done that, never again, also a Liebherr incidentally, plus built in fridges unless they’re cu$tom built are quite small.

Just had mine done as part of a house refurb + extension, hard to put a price on it as it was part of a much larger project but I think somwehere in the region of mid 40’s.

Still have to get flooring and blinds for the velux windows, oh and bars to go across the window opening to get our building cert. We went for big tilt and turn windows rather than a juliet balcony but the building inspector insists on having something to stop people falling out of window – probably correctly.

Ours has a dormer, a hip to gable, two velux and am ensuite-ish bathroom. We also chose to remove the chimney stack in the roof (and throughout the house)

We had to sacrifice a big chunk of our already small bathroom to get the stair turn in so we turned that into a wet-room.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask

Scarpa HS12 is great, expensive mind. Certainly better than other leather treatments I’ve used. But prolly too late, it’s a preventative not a cure.

This is interesting

As the dust settles on America’s most controversial election, BBC Radio 4 asks five writers to give their view on where America goes now.

In this programme, the journalist and author Andrew Sullivan gives his verdict on why Hillary Clinton lost the election.

He argues that she was – from the start – unelectable.

Producer: Adele Armstrong.

It’s a crossover, I’m out.

Alfa want to break back into the states, therefore an SUV is absolutely essential, it will outsell the Giulia massively over there.

Bloody hell, just checked how much mine has cost for our downstairs extension and it stands at just over £2k this includes over £500 worth of revisions to the plans. Fairly complicated build mind, lots of steel and piled foundations + groundbeam

The HDR UHD TVs I’ve seen look a lot better in bright light than Plasma’s do though

Isn’t that the whole point of HDR though, not being limited to the relatively dim and murky pictures we’re used to caused by the inability of celluloid not to melt/catch fire when a really bright bulb is used to make a bright picture.

I’m a supporter, second from bottom on their Friend, Supporter, Partner Patron membership tiers, fairly happy paying £49 pa atm, certainly a lot less than my 5-7 day a week newspaper habit that I had bitd. Still waiting for my complementary National Trust membership mind, it’s only been a year.

One of my mates has a “4”, and it’s lovely, he must have one of the good ones as it hasn’t really gone wrong yet. I know it’s not a very fashionable attribute for a car to have atm but it is by far the most comfortable car I’ve been in. Only complaint from me, an infrequent passenger in it, is the elbow room seems a bit tight up front.

The reason Hillary “lost”, people just didn’t turn out for her. Mccain and Romney both had higher votes that Trump.

Just checked and Will Aid 2016 is now running, it’s not free the suggested donation is £95 for a single or £150 for a double but that money goes to charity, so I guess you can donate a bit less.

A local solicitor writes your Will without charging their normal fee. Instead you are invited to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid. The suggested donation is £95 for a basic single Will or £150 for a pair of basic mirror Wills.

Bimbler – some reports do show an increase.. here’s one from this year:

http://kutv.com/news/local/study-teen-pot-use-increasing-in-colorado-after-legalization

– past-month pot use for teens 12-17, has increased significantly.
– drug related expulsions and suspensions have increased by 40 percent

Here’s all the meat and links for the survey in the report I posted above, have you got a link for the KUTV stuff?

Drug deaths in Portugal – where all drugs are decriminalised for personal use.

Of course the rate of cannabis deaths is 0 as the LD50 (the median lethal dose) is..

At present it is estimated that marijuana’s LD-50 is around1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.

From here

Compare that to booze where the LD50 is purchasable in any supermarket for what £15?

Liberty innit.

I’m glad that portrait photographers earn a living, hell I wish everyone could earn a great living, but it is a bit scammy, a lot of the photographers do the you’ve won a free session, woooo, ok fair enough, but then charge a colossal amount for the photos, my old dear got done for £300 for 10 admittedly pretty good digital photos. It’s like the internet, only £1.99 for broadband, £18, line rental. Or the pricing of budget airline tickets.

So you want something tough, recent, fast and cheap, blimey.

IF about £500 isn’t too much what about a Moto X Force – with an unbreakable screen, it’s last years model still at this years prices there is a Moto Z force available but seemingly only in the US currently.

Not sure if they do a left hander or even an ambidextrous but I’m a massive fan of the Logitech mice with the “hyperfast” scroll wheel, great for spreadsheets or anything else where you scroll a lot. The previous generation one which lasted me about 5 years went through a set of batteries every 3 months or so, my current one “M705” is still on original batteries after a year(?), something like that anyway.

What advantage does this give? Wouldn’t I then just have two boxes plugged in to achieve the same thing? I’d prefer an all in one solution to be honest….

Because you can get much, much better routers than ISPs give you. Although my old dear has just got a Virgin Superhub 3 and pretty impressed with that.

Why don’t you put the providers router into modem mode and use your own router as the errr, router, (if you can) it’s what I do with Virgin.

I was a bit of a Nexus fanboi but I just don’t see how these Pixel phones are going to compete with Samsung in the android space and iPhones in the other smartphone space, unless all this machine learning whizz bangery is some serious next level craziness.

After years of using an uncarpeted Montana 6 we upgraded to a SH polycotton Outwell with a carpet. Wouldn’t got back now, make the tent a much nicer place to be.

In England on loamy soil it’s all nice and warm underfoot and on very damp ground it really lessens that squelchy feeling. In abroad-land where the ground is more likely to be hard and possibly stony it’s also much more comfortable.

Other than moaning, or should that be protesting, on a UK bike forum, what are you actually doing to highlight the scourge of American gun laws?

Bimbler
Free Member

We are in Britian, US domestic policy on firearms is pretty much none of our business.

Pretty much this, just don’t really get the British (European?) obsession with the American gun laws. I spose in a globalised world their news is our news and it’s all infotainment in the end, also a good chance to look down our noses at our American “cousins”.

If you want to get upset about stuff, there’s a lot more to be upset about than a bunch of people killing themselves with shooters and domestic gang wars.

I’m with Three, only positive reviews until yesterday when my local tower(s) stopped working for voice.

You get the best deals for a SIM only contract, “buying” your mobile through the carriers is a mugs game.
