The new LED backlit ones (LCD) are meant to be seriously impressive, but think they’re still quite pricey.

    Horrid in herts, as usual.

    :(

Damn. I was on the cross bike this weekend doing a mixture of railway cuttings, woods and bridleways and thought it was drying out.

Where in Herts is that? I’m near Broxbourne and things are much dryer in the woods here.

    Cool!

I’ve been enjoying this series so far. Saw eps 3 & 4 last night, bit shocked how they presented drukgs, where was the peril, where was the “you’ll die if you take drugs” message? Hmm hmmm?

I’m really hoping that Cook gets a shoeing though.

How do you know which processes can be stopped/deleted etc, there seems to be dozens running on mine and I have no idea what they are?

    More RAM.

Also how many processes do you have running. A mate asked about his glacially slow XP PC and there were something like 80 active processes running on bootup incl Norton Security suite.

Weird. I’ve just bought some. Bought these for my daughter as a birthday present. I’ve bought them mainly as a toy but if they work well enough when we’re camping etc (which they should) then all the better.

The problem (I think) with Woolies is that when they were part of Kingfisher all of the freeholds to the stores were sold to property companies/landlords. A nice bit of balance sheet engineering ensuring big bonuses all round. Woolies were later sold off (probably in a leveraged buyout) so now not only had to service the rents they also had to service the massive cost of the buyout.

In this day and age I’d have thought that any bike shop which doesn’t really go out on a limb to provide the best possible customer service that they can really doesn’t want to be in business.

I don’t know much about U2 – they’ve always been a bit meh in my book but I actually liked one of their new tracks played on last night’s Zane Lowe show – seem to have gone in a bit of a post-rock direction (I was a bit drunk however, so my critical faculties weren’t set to maximum).

    How about the Rolling Stones?

If the kids are using childseats and you travel with 3 adults a lot then maybe consider a small(ish) 6/7 seater. If it’s only the occasional 3 adults and one of them is small or doesn’t mind being a bit uncomfortable then a Focus.

I got a Deuter Race EXP Air for my birthday and am really pleased with it. Not sure if you’d call it all day though at 12 litres?

I also considered the Kriega R15 and one of those Wingnut ones, but they were more expensive and I couldn’t actually check them out anywhere.

We’ve got a Phil and Teds and really couldn’t be more pleased with it. Yes it was expensive but they hold their value very well, not had any real issues with it, a couple of punctures yes but nothing more than that. We’ve really thrashed it over the 3 years we used it, it probably did more miles than our car, still going strong albeit a bit tatty now. For off road type stuff I’d say it was fine over tow path like surfaces and hardpack but not much more than that really. Of course it’s biggest advantage and ultimately the reason we bought it is that it takes 2, although with 2 aboard there is scant storage space.

Personally I think it’s a bit pathetic that you’re not allowed to swear, it’s aimed at adults but kids can read it too – big deal. Most kids are more potty mouthed than many of the people on here. But y’know it’s not my forum.

Anyway, if you need to recharge your swear glands here is every single swear word from every single epsiode of The Sopranos

Will the big Bite work with a Camelback valve lock?

Source bite valves are cack. When mine died (actually I persisted with the POS putting up with a wet leg from the steady dripping for about 6 months, why? WHY!) I replaced it with a Camleback Big Bite valve

    Big Bite

I managed to get it onto the source tube with just a tiny bit of bodging (I had to sacrifice about 5mm of tube). Then you have the best of both worlds, the Source hydration bag and Camelback valve.

I have UST rims with Bonty rim strips, valves and Bontrager tyres and use Wheel Milk.

Pros – One puncture in 2 years. Grip seems better even with same pressure (is it just me, am I deluding myself) the tyres seems to deform and grip around objects much better than with a tube? Weight I guess.

Cons – A (bit of a?) faff changing tyres, although it’s a pretty good workout getting the tyres up to pressure with a track pump.

If a child stays in education until they’re 18 that’s probably about 2600 (200 days a year * 13 years at school) days at school. Is 5 days such a big deal?

Sunrise, wrong side of another day,
Sky high and six thousand miles away,
Don’t know how long I’ve been awake,
Wound up in an amazing state,
    Can’t get enough,
And you know it’s righteous stuff,
Goes up like prices at Christmas,
Motorhead, you can call me Motorhead, alright

    Brain dead, total amnesia,
    Get some mental anasthesia,
Don’t move, I’ll shut the door and kill the lights,
And if I can’t be wrong I could be right,
    All good clean fun,
    Have another stick of gum,
    Man, you look better already,
Motorhead, remember me now Motorhead, alright

    Fourth day, five day marathon,
    We’re moving like a parallelogram,
Don’t move, I’ll shut the door and kill the lights,
I guess I’ll see you all on the ice,
    I should be tired,
And all I am is wired,
Ain’t felt this good for an hour,
Motorhead, remember me now, Motorhead alright

I’ve had some sort of legal (ish) sped recently – the kind of stuff they give to pilots. You don’t really get the high of speed, but you’re definitely “up” and the down is much more manageable, still not great though.

Thanks all. I was thinking s/h scaffolding boards would be the way to go but I guess they were treated bitd. Might go plan B and just buy all the wood.
