You may be able to justify the cost of the middleburn through superior longevity and cost of BB's

Does anyone know if Bontrager valve cores work with the "tape method" or do they solely work with Bontragers own rim strips?

The ultimate insult about deregulisation is that not only are private and foreign companies allowed to cherrypick profitable mail, but under 'downstream access' they simply hand all mail they cant economically deliver back to us, for a below cost fee, effectivly turning what would be a loss to them into a profit. We absorb the loss!
RM management had a chance to argue against or influence this policy, but chose not to.

Blimey it's worse than I thought. Thanks wk.

But it is their blindingly unswerving certainty that they, and only they, have the right answer/method/opinion on everything, all the time and without any ability to understand that there just may be another way to look at/undertake and complete a task

Young people in think they know everything SHOCKA.

Blimey we come across as a bunch of miserable old basterds

Everyone seems to be in some kind of a state of shock that a 21 (TWENTY ONE) year old has a sheltered and not necessarily realistic view of the world.

This echoes my thoughts from the other RM thread

Bring back the RM monopoly for the common good ie the people of the UK not for the good of a bunch of multinationals.

Christ I'm becoming some kinda leftie

Isn't one of the problems with RM being the breaking of the RM monopoly? Didn't the Government open up the "market" for mail services to "private enterprise", ie a lot of businesses paying employees around minimum wage creaming off the lucrative stuff, therefore wiping out a massive part of the cross subsidy inherent in the RM monopoly and causing the current fall out? Maybe we should just go back to the way it was recreating the monopoly and paying posties a decent wage. A one up for the common weal rather than the "free market."?

I don't think the free market is the best way of allocating resources in a natural monopoly like the postal service. Ref see also Gas, Electricity and Rail networks.

Like it a lot, someone with more seat post showing than me. You could lose quite a bit of weight getting lighter seat post and saddle but I guess you already know that. Think the crank looks good too. Brake levers sticking way out

I've just taken the plunge into the world of 29erdom and I concur with clink light cheap 29er wheels are non existent, except for the On One wheels which look very good but are a bit heavy – incidentally I have a brand new unused pair of On One Wheels + Shimano rotors for sale if you're interested.

Anyone tried a Geax Sagauro 29ers? Looking for an all condition tyre (I like Bonty ACX's and had them on my 26er just sounding out alternatives.

Can I ask exactly what is wrong with that? The primary school I attended demanded that pupils wear ties and the secondary school demanded a blazer also. These schools were both in Motherwell which is about as working class and left wing a town as it is possible to get.

You say that like left wingers are against uniforms

The Aztecs used obsidian blades (no steel technology?) and they are much sharper than steel. They can reach almost molecular thinness (so Wikipedia reliably informs me) and can be found in some modern scalpels.

    Triviatastic.

My Mrs has taken to baking some (Bran) apple tea bread (loads of recipes on web) – it's yummy and definitely works, it keeps you going on the ride and when I get home I no longer feel the need to instantly eat about 2000 calories of pretty much anything that comes to hand

For everything but extremely cold weather (and rain too I guess) Gore windstopper gloves are great, you can also buy undergloves for when it's really cold.

I like Schwalbe Land Cruisers for general bimbling. I've got 35c and run them at 60psi, cheap and seem pretty puncture resistant but a bit heavy for racing (probably)

I've been using this Rock Oil Chain Lube on all my bikes this summer, must admit I've been very very impressed, chain is cleanish, dry and noisless, I've just reapplyed it for the first time since May (?) Haven't used it in the wet as yet though.

I found Wheel Milk worked really well, only needed to top up every 4-6 months and even then there was plenty of liquid left. Used Bontrager UST rims with Bontrager TR tyres.

When my wheel milk runs out I may try some of the home brew recipes

However it also means narrower cassette sprockets

9 of the 10 "sprockets" are made from steel so should last better. Amazing tech really.

I've got both of the doofers and found the other doofer (which pushes the chain up) much better than the standard one.

    Other way round for me.

i've got a std doofer and the chain keeps catching on the guide loop attached to the jockey wheel – hence looking for something else.

Me too, I just took the loop thing off – works fine – it's only come off once in two years -although my SS is just used for riding around on rather than anything more 'core
