Have to agree with antigee, once they can ride on their own I'd go for a croc thing. Tag alongs are great, we've one of those Adams ones which attaches to the seat pin and it's absolutely fine, my daughter loves it. But when she learns – (I wish she'd hurry up – she's over 5) I'm sure she'd much rather have the option of bimbling by herelf for a bit during a ride. Cheaper too.

Rock hard – makes me wish I had sent off the forks and shock to mojo sometime back.

Yup summer trails really show up the limitations of fully rigid bikes :-(

I find it entertaining and much better use of our Licence Tax….

Top Gear earns an absolute mint for the BBC iirc. I'm only an occassional watcher but usually enjoy it when I watch.

Probably not the place for this but I'm amazed we still build our houses out of breeze blocks and bricks, isn't there anything better/more efficient? Offices/factories have steel frames and are then cladded with materials of choice – would it be cheaper to build houses like that?

I've been using Olive Oil (extra virgin, natch) for about 4 years. Works an absolute treat, doesn't gum up the blades – although I only get about 5 or maybe 6 shaves from a Mach 3 unlike the 20 or so that someone was saying on here the other day. Far superior to creams/gels/soap imo.

Bimbler – Have England ever made it to a Euro final? I may have forgotten but can't recollect an appearance.

D'oh! Sorry got mixed up, they made the semis in 96

    From wiki (whatever that means)
Of the 27 games played against Germany, England have won 12, while Germany have won 10

    Fifa rankings 2010: Germany 6, England 8

At the sharp end however –

    Germany – World Cup Appearances – 17, Champions 3, Runners Up 4.

    Germany – Euro Champs Appearences – 10, Champions 3, Runners Up 3

Can't be bothered to count losing semi-finals appearances

    England – World Cup Appearances – 13, Champions 1, Runners Up 0.

England- Euro Champs Appearences – 7, Champions 0, Runners Up 1.

Love the way the English media build up England vs Germany matches as some sort of super clash of teams of similar standing, rather like Bolton bigging up their matches against ManUre.

You could get a Coleman Extreme or Igloo Maxcold Coolbox which will keep your food at fridge temperatures as long as you keep feeding the box ice, generally a bag of ice cubes every one or two days depending on the ambient temperature. Only downside is that they're a bit space hungry but well worth it imo.

Seed with clover or clover + grass. It's harder wearing than grass alone, grows much slower and does't need watering in ths summer.

Aye the Bonty's are designed to be run with plastic rim strips, they're not that great, I'd be inclined to try with the Joe's valves and some of the Stan's yellow tape or similar.

No problems in 4 years on mine, but on no account use SuperJuice, that is proper shocking and no mistake.

Do your wheels have the tubeless rim strips in? The Bonty valves mate with them as they have a built up bit where the valve goes. Certainly worked in my old Bontrager Mustang UST rims, pretty cheap too.

Thye're freaking menkal if they think that people will start paying for an online edition unless it offers something that you can't get from any of the other free national dailies. Otoh newspapers are facing a perfect storm of falling circulations and falling ad revenue so who's gonna pay for all the journalists doing their journalisms?

No personal experience but when our white goods man came around to fix our dishwasher* I was chatting to him about white goods, as you do and I mentioned that "I liked the look of them LG's", his face immediately fell and took on a serious cast, "don't touch em mate, they're good when they work but they break down alot and parts are hard to come by" or somesuch, best stick to Bosch then says I, "yes mate, you can't beat Bosch for the money". I nodded my head sagely and made him a cup of tea.

    *It was/is a Bosch too

What's so special about i9 wheels? They look a but spangly I'll give you that but are they any better than DT240's/CK's laced to a rim of your choice. Crank Brothers wheelsets at least notably different to the run of the mill.

Echo takisawa above the Outwell Montana 6 is a simply brilliant family tent. We've just bought one of these as a weekend tent, had a trial erection yesterday and it was very pleasing. Also considered the Icarus 500 which looks a great tent and has good reviews.

I saw this at the weekend, on the face of it it looks pretty damning, but then again that's what the TV show would portray, the way Cancellara can just zoom away from his competitors does look odd though. However I'm no expert just watching the Tour and a few Giro stages every year. Great tech.

Really like mine. Not in the same league for gadgeticity as an iPhone but does everything I need pretty well. The v5.something or other has really improved things imo.

I've used electrical tape to seal the spoke bed and then used a layer of the stuff reggiegasket linked to above, worked a treat, although I had to trim a few mm off of the packing tape stuff to get a perfect fit. Went up OK with Bontrager TR tyres and a bit of a track pump pumping frenzy.

Not where I live but where I work the council have decided to spend many hundred thousand pounds and numerous months replacing perfectly acceptable pavements around a distinctly teriary shopping parade with much much nicer block paving and dreamy smooth tarmac. Haven't a clue why, the old stuff was fine and would have lasted for years.

I've been using Caffe Latex for about 8 months now. It works well sealed a big looking hole quickly the other week. Due to put my summer tyres on tonight so I'll see how much is still liquid. Expensive though.

I'm a wee bit of a coffee snob have owned and used various espresso makers in the past, currently just own various sized Bialetti type cafetieres. However I was absolutely blown away by the coffee made by a Magimix (?) Nespresso machine. It's one of those pod type machines so probably costs quite a bit on a per cup basis but it does make very nice coffee and is pretty simple to use.

I bought a Paramo Quito reviewed here as a kind of do it all outdoor jacket. I love it but not really used it in anger on the bike yet, not sure how the relatively soft outer fabric it will stand up to branches etc. One of the major advantages of the Paramo system is that it can be mended unlike shell type jackets, it feels a whole lot nicer to wear than the traditional shell jackets.

Just changed my supertstar sintrered pads on my Formula Oro's last week, they were virtually down to the backing plate. Realised that I've had them on for about a year. I did follow the proving method to the letter though.
