've just signed up for read it swap, but I've kno realised I've just given away all my rubbish books I didnt want to oxfam.

Does anyone have looks of spare rubbish books I can swap for some good ones ? Or am I misunderstanding something ?

    :D

With RISI you ask for a swap with a book of your choice, the person who has that book then looks through your "rubbish book" list if they like one of yours then you proceed with the swap, get the swappers details and post your book to them. Hopefully they do the same, have over 100 swaps so far never been let down yet.

The adverts are everywhere in that London and I'm sure the tech is great but what do they offer you that a paperback doesn't? Good idea I suppose if you do lots of long foreign trips.

I've been using Read It Swap It for the last couple of years great for those like me who've run out of space + cash.

I'm not a betting man but looking at some betting blogs the odds were

    Match Odds: (Decimals)

    Manchester United – 1.20 BetFred

    Draw – 7.00 Bet365

    Rangers – 19.00 WilliamHill

(Employed) Football managers are pragmatists in the main, not gung ho optitmists

Everton adopted the total opposite view to Rangers. They played to win it from the off. I don't think they were feeling particularly inferior.

Everton were at home were they not?

The game is about results imo and the best that Rangers could possibly expect is a draw. They played towards that draw achieved the result and should be applauded for their endeavor not castigated for their tactics. It might have been boring and frustrating to watch but win at home and draw away is the way to progress in the competition. Valiantly attacking in the name of entertainment or chasing a result (at Old Trafford!) is just mental. The fact that merchandise united made 10 changes just shows how lightly they were taking it. Maybe the people criticising Rangers should look closer to "home".

Tried the browser (wirelessly) on the Wii for about the length of time to deduce that it's pretty horrible. No point in using the iPlayer via the browser on the wii as there is a Wii channel you can download which works brilliantly, although the PQ isn't all that.

Met some recently at a garden party of some posh friends of ours, gentlemen farmers from yorkshire somewhere or other, posh and rich. However I think posh as a strata is seperate from a northern or southern identitity as they're posh/gentry first northern/southern second.

Giant AnthemX 29er – Giant seem to be importing them according to the ad in STW60. Although not sure if they'll import the full range or just the blinged up race versions

Source make the best bladders, but unfortunately Camelbak make the best bite valves – which is why I use a Source Widepack 3l and a CamelbaK bite valve.

Why are the various iterations of VW Transporters so popular with camper conversions rather than Transits, Renaults, Fiats etc – is it because they're smaller and more car like?

It's not the team orders that I find disgraceful it's the way Ferrari handled it the whole thing. I know all the teams use team orders but not so blatently.

So it's basically Ferrari's lack of subtlety/incompetence you have a problem with. Should have been more "British" about it and told Felipe to "turn down your revs, your engine is overheating" or somesuch. Only of course for Fernando to zoom past, "Felipe we have fixed your engine issues you may turn the revs back up"

That would have made it much better and no one would have been fooled.

that's why the current crop annoy me. No innovation, just tarted up bodyshells on dull chassis with largely dull engines.

Didn't most cars stop having chassis sometime in the 1960's?

How much drilling are you really going to do? Forget the expensive ones buy a mid range bosch and spend the rest on your bike/missus.

+2 for Bonty ACX, but they did get overwhelmed a couple of times in really claggy mud, not sure if a Mud-X would do better but I'm going to buy one anyway, not least due to the better clearance of the Mud-x. So I'm going to go for an ACX up front and a Mud-X on the back. Will prolly SS it as well to create the ultimate mud machine.

Incidentally what's better in the mud 26 or 29?

I managed to keep a GXP BB going for about a year via the simple expedient of stuffing the bearings full of grease. Having said that for a bomb proof commuter square taper is the way to go.

Brilliant bit of media buying in the ads "worships biggest anthems". Xtian music, first time I've ever seen it advertised. Still seems to be money in it, do people still pay £11 for CDs?

Lovely bikes but hugely expensive for a Taiwanese off the peg frames. I couldn't justify the cost to myself unless it was built out of something magical and/or welded by a beardy in a backwoods hut.

In addition to the Firefox recommendation above you can also use No Script. It's amazing how much Google stuff there is on almost every wensite you visit for instance this website has Google Analytics, Google Ad services, Google Syndication and Google APIs all running in the background.

    Google analytics is quite interesting

Must admit I've been loving Opera recently does everything so well and for some reason FF has been running slowly on my home PC. If it weren't for all the ad-ons especially those which shall not be named as well as the impending new version of FF I'd prolly ditch FF for Opera.

I use Blind Search every now and again – surprising how often you don't pick Google – it gives search results from Google, Bing and Yahoo. Depressingly Goggle is by far the best though.

Nicely done by the BBC / Steven Moffat / Gatiss I thought, well acted, well directed nice setup for the rest of the series. The plot was a bit anemic though, which is true to the original as well as a lot of Doyle's plots were a bit on the thin side too. Agree re Mycrofts' assistant.

Bonty Jones ACX 2.2 leave about 3mm space between it and front mech and about 8mm between chain stays. A bit of a pain when it's really muddy but fine the rest of the time. The limit on rear tyre size is really my only gripe with my Scandal.

IME riding rigid is fine but it does limit how long you ride for, after about 4 hours I get really tired, much more so than when riding with suspension.

You do realise that the whole 26er thing is just a historical accident and not the product of years of exhaustive empirical research by "The Founders of Mountain Biking™" into what is the best wheel size?

Gore? I've got the Alp X – seem pretty good so far, they seem as if they should be too warm but feel ok in the current high temperatures, good 3 season gloves imo.

I was pondering one of these although not sure 40 year old blokes should be riding scooters :-(. Bigger wheels than the Micro make it superior in the same way that 29ers are compared to 26ers 8)
