Looks like Silverfish is trying to reposition the brand by making them completely unaffordable. I’ve been using Superstar sintered since the time a couple of years ago when brand new Formula Oro (non-sintered) pads lasted a whole one and a half rides.

The Daily Mail website is basically just a gossip/celebrity sheet – the kind of colourful magazines like Heat or Now or More that are at the front of the magazine racks in every newsagent in the UK, it really bares very little comparison to the actual newspaper (this may be bs btw as I haven’t read the paper for years but often “stumble” across the website).

You may or may not like it but it’s a brilliant “product”.

I’m 6’1 with 34″ inside leg and ride an 18″ 29er with lots of post and a riser stem. Absolutely love it. Be interested to try a 20″ for comparisons sake but no intention to change

I’ve gone back to multi-blade after experimenting with DE razors for 6 months or so, I just prefer the ease and the “you could do it with your eyes closed” ability of multi-blades. It’s not as if you can’t enjoy the shaving experience of multiblades, I’ve bought myself a nice badger brush and some really nice shaving soap and that definitely adds to the pamper factor of shaving. Probably a slightly closer shave with DE but not that much in it.

To mitigate against the bonkers blade prices I’ve bought one of these razor pit thingys, too early to say how well it works.

Got a DHB one for christmas, I was a bit meh when I opened it (i’d given the buyer a list of “acceptable” product at various price points) but I must say I’m really impressed, very “athletic” cut though.

Pretty much indestructible as virtually every one else has said, but pretty poor/non existent filtration. Not sure I’d use one at home although our Sebo costs quite a bit in bags and filters.

Do Taiwanese bike workers get paid an unfair wage and work in bad conditions? Certainly the photos of Taiwanese bike factories I’ve seen recently look fine. Not sure about wages but I had a conversation with someone in the bike industry and he said the image we have of coolies slaving away in tin shack factories is out of date and that a wage of $20000 is not uncommon. Not sure why you can build steel framed bikes in Italy for £500 but the idea of doing the same in the Uk is deemed impossible.

Before the bin lids arrived we worked out our total costs, added some savings on top and set up a joint account to pay all of these costs while keeping the difference in out personal accounts. Worked really well.

What really caught me eye was how slender all the people on the bikes were compared to the typical lardy Britishers.

Innit though, on holiday in Italy in a predominantly Italian resort a couple of years ago the missus and I felt like relative bloaters on the beach. I’m 1.86m (6’1) and 80ish kg (about 13st) and the missus is 5’8 and about 9.5 stone. We kind of got used to the people over there and when we flew back to Stansted most people just seemed kinda fat and bloaty.

Wow that’s some inflation, I bought a 180mm Formula rotor and mounting kit a couple of years ago for £25 or something like that

I used Avast for years but abandoned it as it became more resource hungry, I’ve tried MSE and Avira which are both good AV programs (I preferred MSE) but in terms of lightweight AV scanners I’ve recently converted to Comodo which is great but a tad annoying to use to begin with as it “learns”. Definitely get rid of zonealarm.

I’ve gone for the outside on mine purely based on looks, it looks loads better but does stop me running a push up tensioner as it fouls on the chainstay. Managed to get a decent chainline on my cassette hub by using a spacer kit with a mix of spacer sizes.

Total waste of money if you live in the UK. In terms of driving its pretty difficult to differentiate between summer and winter here, apart from some exceptions.

Has anyone ever been more wrong on here?

Northerners are perceived to be more trustworthy and friendly with the obvious exception of scousers.

Also I think people in the south don’t really mind which accent is used whereas a southern accent to chippy northeners might as well be saying “don’t buy our stuff”.

Now Bibler for this to be true they would have to be selling the frame with different gears at a lower price as they don’t then your statement is untrue

*shrugs*, it’s what they told me, I believe it was even in their sales literature from then

I looked at a Thorn Raven years ago, soon after I first heard of the Rohloff, it did look like the most economical way of buying one but if I remember correctly they were making out that the frame was worth £650. Obviously subsidising the Rohloff by (massively) over valuing the rather average frame.

I badgered my old dear into getting some all season or winter tyres this year after a particularly nasty 7 hour 25 mile trip last year. Pleased to report that she thinks the difference is phenomenal and well worth the £400ish she paid for tyres and installation. Tyres are Bridgestone A001 all weather. She originally wanted Continental TS830 winter tyres but there’s a 6 weeks wait for those.
